Real Clear Politics ^ | July 12, 2012 | Maggie Gallagher

The "veepstakes" speculation is in full swing:

Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey is signaling that if called, he will serve.

.........................................................

But if you ask me, the best choice for Romney's vice president is former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

Looks like Miss Gallagher is off her meds again. I am consoled that there is zero chance of this happening. What a ticket with a New Englander RINO at the top with the Christian Nanny as his running mate.

Huckabee?? My Gawd, what are these folks smoking!

Can we make the ticket any more pathetic than Romney/Huckabee? Seriously? Who is advising this, a democrat?

I don’t even like Romney and neither of those two is going to make that any better.

Huckabee?? What a snoozer! christie can be entertaining but needs to lose about 100 lbs

Why should Romney pick another liberal Republican?

This is how stupid this woman is:

The first rule in picking a vice presidential candidate is: Do no harm.

No sweetie, the first rule is pick someone who will help you get elected.

WTH!?

First off, wouldn’t it be nice if the entire country had a chance to vote for the best candidate? The system of primaries has to be changed. By the time most states get to vote the nominee is all but in place. If all primaries were held within the same one or two week period I doubt we’d be holding our noses to vote for Romney.

Secondly, HUCKABEE!?!?!? OK everyone, get a grip. I believe someone is just trying to either scare the hell out of us or put us all to sleep.

Might just prove what I’ve been saying all along. Romney was put in there to lose, just like McCain. It’s just his turn.

That's pretty pathetic, I think Romney/Pawlenty is a far worse ticket though.

The worst would be Romney/McCain. Ugggh, I shudder at that thought...

Romney needs Florida means the pick will be Rubio. That way Romney serves one term, and at the age of 70 does not run for relection. Rubio runs and serves eight years as president. Rubio will be able to steal the hispanic vote from the democrats.

The dog is the best looking one in the family. What a bunch of puss guts!

They must be trying to get all the stupid ones out of the way. Rice, Huckabee. What about McCain? Dole?

Remember the last time we had a compressed primary season over just a few weeks? It was all over by Super Tuesday (first Tuesday in February) and we were stuck with McCain.

This time, we at least had a contest until the end of March. I think the bigger problem is on how the delegates are allocated: too much emphasis on population and too little on states which actually deliver electoral votes to the GOP candidate. DC should get fewer delegates than American Samoa. And no way should California get more delegates than Texas.
