I see your point and am inclined to agree, but wasn’t Palin a first term governor?

You have to consider that with Condi as VP, that ~means Bolton for SecState. For all of us crestfallen with people we used to admire who went to the dark mitt side, that’s also a consolation.

I'd be curious to see how your math was done. I think there are far more toss-up states than you're accounting for. I would take all of the states that Obama won in 2008 and turn the following from "Blue" to "in play":

1. Colorado
2. New Mexico
3. Wisconsin
4. Iowa
5. Ohio
6. Indiana
7. Virginia
8. North Carolina
9. Florida
10. Nevada
11. Pennsylvania (yes, Pennsylvania)
12. Michigan (yes, Michigan)

Some of these may already be leaning Romney's way (North Carolina, for example). I don't see how Obama's chances are very good if he has to "play defense" in all of these states while there probably isn't a single "Red" state from 2008 that he has a good chance of turning "Blue."

“Palin Test”

The MSM will throw "gotcha" questions at any opponent and declare any brain-dead democrat a genius.

There is no correct answer or middle ground or compromise, you are either with them or against them. It is pure partisanship.

In the end i seriously doubt he’ll pick Rice. For what does she bring? Would she help pick up a battleground state? Would she win blacks over to Romney? Blacks never gave GWB any credit for picking Rice as the first black female Secretary of State. Would she help with women? Feminists never gave McCain any credit for picking a female running mate who would have been the first woman VP. Mostly she would remind people of the GWB years and the media and the White House would play up that angle all day every day. And what’s more, would it rally conservatives around the ticket? Not likely considering her position on abortion.

Yeah it’s there...hit refresh.

It refreshes itself. Earlier, when I visited after opening this thread, it was "Romney Narrows VP Choices, Surprise Name Emerges as Frontrunner." Then briefly "Surprise Name" became "Condi," then it changed back to "Surprise Name" for a little while before returning to "Condi," where it still is...for now.

There's even a Drudge Poll, "SHOULD ROMNEY PICK CONDOLEEZZA RICE FOR VP?" The reported numbers are now at 31,074 yes to 17,256 no.

but she sure would wipe the floor in the VP debates.

With Biden's wit and wisdom on full display, that'd be fun to imagine.

Who I’m hoping he’ll pick: Allen West

He wouldn’t pick Allen West simply because Allen is a real MAN with ironclad convictions and would show him up horribly while in office.

20 faced Romney needs a total WEAKLING who will simply be a gender or racial token....not someone who is more qualified than him.

The last thing this country needs is that same group of jack@sses from the Bush team polluting the next administration.

A Condi selection brings to mind a famous John McEnroe quote: “YOU CANNOT BE SERIOUS!”

Per other threads, it is Condi Rice.

A trial balloon?

I hope it crashes.

Oh, no. I hope Drudge is wrong and Mittens is NOT seriously considering Dr. Rice. She is smart (to say the least!), but as boring and humorless as Mittens himself. Also she still carries the taint of the Bush administration. C’mon, Mittens, can’t you do better than this?!

In all honesty, if you start from the assumption that Romney and his inner circle don’t give a flying fig what conservatives think or want, then when you factor in that bit of information, a Condi Rice Vice President makes perfect sense.

I really am worried that Romney will pick a dud. I really hope he goes with a bold conservative choice. Unfortunately I think Romney things Olympia Snow is an ultra conservative.

I love Mr. West...but we all know the liberal media will go after him with a vengence because you know he is black...and they will take him down like they did Hermain Cain.

I pray whoever he selects doesn’t have anything hidden in their closet....because if there is anything, the left will find it....
