**Exclusive**
Late Thursday evening, Mitt Romney's presidential campaign launched a new fundraising drive, 'Meet The VP' -- just as Romney himself has narrowed the field of candidates to a handful, sources reveal.
And a surprise name is now near the top of the list: Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice!
The timing of the announcement is now set for 'coming weeks'.

Bottom Line: Condoleeza Rice will not attract conservatives.
Who does Romney want her to attract?
She doesn’t bring a state, she doesn’t bring in Hispanics, she doesn’t attact conservatives, and she won’t pry away blacks.
Does he think she’ll bring more women to his side?
FATAL mistake. Condi has ZERO appeal among Blacks, is a mealy-conservative, if even that, and brings up Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush. I have tremendous respect for her as an intelligent person and strong piano player but this is big time NG.
Agree it most likely will not be Condi, but why would he pick someone with absolutely NO federal government experience? Romney and his running mate will be seeking to take the reins of the federal government.
One or the other must have federal government experience, i.e., ‘know where the bodies are buried,’ and it ain’t Romney. You don’t need a ticket where both bring executive experience only. IMO neither West nor Rubio has enough experience yet in the federal government.
I can’t think of a major party ticket in my lifetime where one of the 2 at the top didn’t have federal government experience, as Senator, or Congressman, or Cabinet member, something!
When Condi was Secretary of State, I was in love with her and actually had the chance to talk at length with her step-brother, Gregory Stuart Bailey. Gregory is a true conservative and a solid Christian as is Condi. This just is my speculation, but I think she would be one to oppose the repeal of one man one woman and support the reverse of the don’t ask don’t tell repeal if Romney pushed for it. As far as being pro-life, I can’t say. Rumors say she is pro-choice. I am sure my FRiends will hit Condi with their best shot on these subjects and a lot more.
I saw the same interview, not sure of the program. Is Romney just trying to scare the ___________ out of Obama for fun, or is Romney's braindead spokeperson yapping at the mouth again?
I cannot imagine what would motivate her to do this.
West should be right at the top(he’s a leader, not a follower), he merits serious consideration, and the base, I think, would be secured with his selection, something Romney needs to do. As for Rice, I see she has more critics here than fans, deservedly so. She has many faults as have been pointed out here.
Not so much that she pushed for elections, but that she pushed for the participation of Hamas against the loud objection of Israel and the softer objection of Abbas, who knew the risk to his power but couldn't speak out. Also pushed for the Muslim Brotherhood to participate in Egyptian elections but Mubarak said sorry. A strong supporter of the Arab spring.
This is one and only one thing....a ploy by the GOP to blunt the MSM criticism of the Mittens NAACP meeting by tossing out a ballon that Mittens is considering Condi Rice as VP....
So Mittens is not a mean nasty racist after all.....
Some times we forget the GOP actually plays politics instead of looking at their navel lint....
Amazingly stupid analogy. Got a chip on her shoulder.
He’s done WON! Yeah!
A black female? It will never happen. This is just hype to make him seem non-sexist and to downplay the institutional racism of the LDS church.
Sorry not buyin it either. Condi Rice has got to be the last person on Mitt’s list for VP. He wants Portman and that is probably who it will be.
Vomit. Of course, I already find it next to impossible to support that gun grabbing socialist turd.
Is this a way to blunt the power of Hillary taking Biden’s place?
How is Jim Robinson’s heart? We’d hate to lose him.
