Mark Levin Says No To Condi Rice As VP: "Pick A Damn Conservative"
Real Clear Politics ^ | July 12, 2012 | Mark Levin

I've been thinking during the break because this story broke on my watch -- can you imagine? This is actually bad politics not only will Romney be defending Bain right up through the election now he's going have to be defending Bush and Bush's policies right up through the election. This is a bad idea. No offense, Condi Rice.

Didn't they say throughout the Republican primary we had a nominee Romney because he's the only one who could win? Why am I the only one remembers that?

And these polls, don't they make you nervous right now? The economy's on its back. Romney's running against a true loser who has nothing to offer the country, literally nothing. So he's a propagandist. So far the Romney team has not been able to cut through it and then you get this John Sununu -- who gave us Souter for all those years -- walking around like he some kind of smart uncle telling us they are husbanding their resources are just waiting for the right time to unleash on Obama.

Obama's spending the summer trying to define Romney, successful or not, and Romney's not spending the summer trying to define Obama, which he must do. So here we are debating Bain capital. And then we'll be debating RomneyCare. And if he does pick Rice, then will be debating the entire George W. Bush record which is exactly what the Bush people want. Well it's not what I want.

Now pick a damn conservative whose managed something. He's got a strong bench to choose from and stop playing

Right. Just like not believing in the Loch Ness Monster makes one a wimp.

As far as I know, the Loch Ness monster is not mentioned in our Constitution.

So, wimp it is.

As difficult as it is to really “know” a man, it is safe to say that Romney is as squeeky clean as you are going to find in a politician. Don’t waste your time hoping for bimbo eruptions.

I blame conservatives for the fact that we are stuck with Romney. We wasted our time fighting over dead-end candidates, split the vote, and wound up stuck with a guy who never polled above the mid 20’s. I agree with a lot of what the following candidates had to say, but they NEVER had a chance of winning the nomination: Ron Paul, Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachmann, Herman Cain, Rick Santorum, Gary Johnsonn, John Huntsman, Thaddeus McCotter, John Bolton. The only declared candidates who had the ability to beat the field AND Romney were Gingrich, Pawlenty, and Perry. Of the three, I’ll take Gingrich. Warts and all.

Unfortunately, Gingrich spent too much time defending himself from other conservatives, and not enough attacking Romney. So we’re stuck with the worst choice.

In a two party system, failure to vote for the least undesirable candidate constitutes a vote for the most undesirable candidate.

Hey Senator Boxer, it's Lieutenant Colonel Allen West. He earned that title in Kuwait, thank you very much.

And hundreds of thousands in the US military have given their lives for your right to do so. However, in disrespecting Lt. Col. West, you are also disrespecting the rank and the uniform.

(from Wikipedia)

Iraq interrogation incident

While serving in Taji, Iraq, West received information from an intelligence specialist about a reported plot to ambush him and his men.[11] The alleged plot reportedly involved Yahya Jhodri Hamoodi, a civilian Iraqi police officer.[11] West, who was not responsible for conducting interrogations in Iraq and had never conducted nor witnessed one, had his men detain Hamoodi.[11] In the process of detaining Mr. Hamoodi, soldiers testified that Hamoodi appeared to reach for his weapon and needed to be subdued.[11] Hamoodi was beaten by four soldiers from the 2/20th Field Artillery Battalion on the head and body.[12] West then fired his pistol near Hamoodi's head,[11] after which Hamoodi provided West with names and information, which Hamoodi later described as "meaningless information induced by fear and pain."[11] At least one of these suspects was arrested as a result, but no plans for attacks or weapons were found.[11] West said "At the time I had to base my decision on the intelligence I received. It's possible that I was wrong about Mr. Hamoodi."[11]

West was charged with violating articles 128 (assault) and 134 (general article) of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. During a hearing held as part of an Article 32 investigation in November 2003, West stated, "I know the method I used was not right, but I wanted to take care of my soldiers."[12] The charges were ultimately referred to an Article 15 proceeding rather than court-martial, at which West was fined $5,000.[11] LTC West accepted the judgment and retired with full benefits in the summer of 2004. Asked if he would act differently under similar circumstances again, West testified, "If it's about the lives of my soldiers at stake, I'd go through hell with a gasoline can."[12] At his hearing, West pointed out that there were no further ambushes against American forces in Taji until he was relieved of his leadership post on October 4.[13] After West's retirement he received more than 2,000 letters and e-mails offering him moral support.[11] A letter supporting West was signed by 95 members of Congress and sent to the Secretary of the Army.[11]

In September 2010, West spoke in defense of a group of U.S. military personnel known as the "Leavenworth 10" who were convicted of war crimes.[14]

Ok, then I’ll just support someone else whose other supporters are less rabid.

Grats, champ.

Unfortunately, Gingrich spent too much time defending himself from other conservatives, and not enough attacking Romney. So we’re stuck with the worst choice.

Before Bachmann dropped out she was basically attacking whichever conservative was on top any given week. She held off from attacking Romney until rumors started flying that she may have been on Romney's list of potential VPs. So to save face, she'd do a RomneyCare attack every once in a while.

After Bachmann left Santorum and Romney were tag teaming against Newt Gingrich.

Santorum who once had endorsed Romney claiming that Romney was "a real conservative" was just putting on a show with hopes of splitting the conservative opposition that Romney faced between he and Newt.

Once Newt dropped out, Santorum disappeared. He no longer seemed interested in winning the nomination. Mission accomplished!

Santorum gave us Romney

Thanks for the clarification about your reference to the Constitution. I was focusing on Rice, not Levin, so your original comment went completely over my head. (Not that that’s all that hard to do)

Wrong. CINOs know that unprincipled conservatives will hold their noses, so you end up with a librul each time.

The thing that constitutes a vote for the most undesirable candidate is when you ACTUALLY VOTE for that candidate.

Who you "support" is irrelevant. I'm not sure you understand how the selection process works for Vice Presidential candidates, but it comes down to a two man electorate. Only Mitt Romney and his choice get votes on this one.

I was advising you to respect our military. If you have problem with that, perhaps you'd feel more welcome on a site like Huffington Post.

You are ignoring basic arithmatic here. If you fail to use your alloted vote against Obama, it fails to cancel out one Obama vote. What part of “one man one vote” are you having a problem with?

***The part that asks for a vote for a librul, regardless of whether there’s an R in front of his name.

A vote for Obama is a vote for Obama. A vote for Romney is a vote for Romney. A vote for a conservative is a vote for a conservative. A vote for Romnuts or zer0bama is a vote for a librul.

Trying to separate a conservative from his conservative principles on a conservative website by getting him to vote for a librul is being a librul. Free Republic is a conservative website, not a republican one.

Spend your RINO time trying to get other squishes and mushy middlers to vote for the R POS candidate.

I think I’ll go ahead and send a donation to Mr. West’s future opponent in honor of presidio9.

It is not irrelevant who I support, I live in Florida, genius.

If you wished to advise me, perhaps you should have not called me Senator Boxer, Mr. Weiner, your winning personality is kind of a rub.

I think I’ll do the exact opposite of what you advised.

Admittedly, I was never a big fan of math either, but the one thing I liked was that the rules stayed constant, no matter what variables you use.

Your temper tantrum impresses nobody. There is no conservative in the race. Get it through your head. Your choices are a centrist liberal or a socialist liberal. Those are your only choices. Failure to vote still adds one vote to the socialist liberal's column.

Not too bright are you? You have more in common with Senator Boxer than you care to admit.

Lt. Col. West isn't running for anything. Sorry to disappoint. His only possible "future opponent" (as it pertains to this conversation) would actually be, I guess, Joe Biden, assuming Mitt Romney had chosen West as his VP candidate. Good luck with that.

It is not irrelevant who I support, I live in Florida, genius.

Again, there is no election for VP candidates. The Nominee picks his running mate, and that man (or woman) has a right to accept or decline the invitation. Those aren't just the only two votes that count, they are the ONLY two votes in the process.

I think I’ll do the exact opposite of what you advised.

Hmmm. As far as I can tell, the only thing I advised was that you honor the US Military. Since you're no longer doing that I'll throw in that you at least not disrespect any servicemen to their faces, and I suggest you do follow that advice.
