Creating a National Education System through Federal Waivers
National Review Online - The Corner ^ | July 13, 2012 | Sally Lovejoy

In just three short years, President Obama and Secretary Duncan have quietly been laying the ground work to put this country on the path toward a national education system. While many are celebrating the premature death of the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act, a greater threat looms on the horizon which has received little attention. Make no mistake about it; through waivers and federal grants, this administration is changing our K-12 educational system as dramatically as our health-care system but without the statutory authority granted by our elected officials.

Bush the Younger through his No Child Left Behind Act handed Obama and his Leftist syncopates the tools to give Washington the commanding heights of K-12 education. That is why I detest so-called conservatives like Bush the Younger. He never contested the first principle which is should Washington even play a role in K-12 education. That is why I think Romney is a horrid candidate and will be at best another Bush. Romney does not question the first principles that are leading to more and more power going to Washington. He just thinks he will manage it better not questioning why Washington should even be in a position to manage so many aspects of one’s life.

Unlike health care, there is still the opt out. My children haven’t spent a single day in public education, and they never will. Single payer, whether state, local or federal, will never ever work to educate children. It’s economics 101: When government officials spend tax payers money for services that they do not use, quality is low and cost is high. If parents had to write a check for tuition, quality would be high, and costs would be low.

In addition, no child can be educated without at least a basic knowledge of the Bible. The vast majority of literary works require that knowledge to understand the work. This knowledge is not obtained in a public classroom.

Bush, 43:
1) Should NEVER have “reached across the aisle” and allowed Teddy Chappaquiddick to write NCLB
2) Once he saw how horrid the bill was, he should NEVER have signed it.

Zero has shown America how perverted and corrupt our government is and, being a Chicago thug, has perverted and corrupted it more. The system that Washington has created to circumvent the Constitution guarantees that zero’s gross perversions of our government will be with us for decades.

These perversions cannot be resolved with a “stroke of the pen, law of the land”. Congress’ perversions and corruptions of everything they touch have made sure that the worst laws perpetrated by them remain untouchable. They will make lame attempts to undo the damage they and zero and have done but it will be mere symbolism over substance.

The only way we can fix these issues and restore our government to the Representative Republic envisioned by our nation’s Founders is to dissolve the current government, fire everyone associated with it and hit CTRL+ALT+DEL and start over.

The question is, do we have the will and the desire to restore our government to the Representative Republic (which it is currently not) the Founders created, or are we too complacent to take the actions necessary to fix a system that is horribly broken and no longer functioning as designed?

IMO, we will keep applying bandaids rather than taking the steps required to actually fix this problem.

“Now, legal plunder can be committed in an infinite number of ways. Thus we have an infinite number of plans for organizing it: tariffs, protection, benefits, subsidies, encouragements, progressive taxation, PUBLIC SCHOOLS, guaranteed jobs, guaranteed profits, minimum wages, a right to relief, a right to the tools of labor, free credit, and so on, and so on. All these plans as a whole — with their common aim of legal plunder — constitute socialism.”

“That is why I detest so-called conservatives like Bush the Younger. He never contested the first principle which is should Washington even play a role in K-12 education.”

I think this is the crux of the issue and a good observation.

I found NCLB to be a very good program for our public schools, improving learning and accountabiity in the classroom and in the administration offices

Why do you think liberals and unions hated it so much and liberal states like MD got obama waivers from it?
