Islamist Generation (Your Weekly Hit of Steyn)
National Review Online ^ | July 14, 2012 | Mark Steyn

Posted on 07/14/2012 5:57:34 AM PDT by C19fan

Media types like to talk about “the narrative”: News is just another form of storytelling, and certain plot lines grab you more than others.

The easiest narrative of all is anything involving young people. “I believe that children are our future,” as the late Whitney Houston once asserted. And, even if Whiney hadn’t believed it, it would still as a point of fact be true. Any media narrative involving young people presupposes that they are the forces of progress, wresting the world from the grasping clutches of mean, vengeful old men and making it a better place.

One would think that the optimistic Whig view of history would been destroyed with the horrors of the 20th century but we see this in our elite's nieve view of what is going on in the Arab world. I have seen the photos Mr. Steyn referred to with pretty Afghan, Iranian, and Egyptian girls and young women in Western 50s/60s clothes. The change over a few decades has been shocking.

There Steyn goes again, writing articles about politically incorrect realities, refusing to recognize the wonderfulness of the ‘Arab Spring’.

Tyrannical brutality is the NORM of most of history.

The left has shredded so-called “western” values (as if they were only nation- or ethnic-based, as opposed to truth-based).

America is (was?) a unique experiment in history, developed by brilliant, brave men who knew history and were trying to avoid its pitfalls. Of course, these very men have been clay-footed by the intelligent-sounding deconstructionists.

Unfortunately, this hasn’t been taught in our public schools, and our youth has been cut adrift. They don’t know it yet, but many of them are being sucked down the drain of what we had fought and dreamed was a not inevitable historical maelstrom.

Thirty-six percent of young British Muslims think the penalty for apostasy — i.e., leaving Islam — should be death.

It's a cult - more so now than in the past. No Western country should allow immigration from Arab countries.

Very sobering analysis and observations by Mark Steyn. Several things jump out ....

Today’s Muslim youth are less Westernized than their parents were.

The female graduating class of Cairo University in the Fifties looked little different from Vassar. Half a century later, every woman is hijabed to the hilt.

today you see more covered women in London’s East End or the Rosengård district of Malmö, Sweden, than you do in Tunis or Amman.

Thirty-six percent of young British Muslims think the penalty for apostasy — i.e., leaving Islam — should be death.

So where are the so-called "feminists" of this country 'giving a voice' to these oppressed women? Where? Augusta National?! Are you serious?

For some strange reason a religion that vows to kill or eradicate any non-believers and promises 72 virgins for martyrs attracts millions of violent, stupid and misogynistic males.

We have to tell our young children and grandchildren about American History and our traditional religious values. There is a cultural *cleansing* gowing on. They are changing the definition of words, eliminating some words from usage and replacing them with *their* words. They are rewriting history, eliminating what they don’t like and giving it a marxist twist.

Look for old books whether history, storybooks, religious books or anything that predates the great leftists takeover of the culture. Old clasic children’s books that teach traditional values in their stories are a good way of teaching children what it was like before the cultural takeover of the left. Anything that is wholesome or normal is going to be pushed out of the culture as quickly as the marxist fanatics can get to them.

I am in total agreement and we should keep informing our leaders of this. George W. Bush was led down the garden path by Grover (p!ss be upon him) Norquist who introduced CAIR into the Bush Whitehouse. Gullible George just went along with it. Of course his family has been too cozy with the Saudis for a long, long time. Kick out anyone tainted with the Bush dynasty, not just those with the Bush last name but anyone who has the Bush imprimatur on them.

Tyrants whether kings or dictators have been the rule throughout history. Americans have a unique history of just the right things coming together at the right time. Most of the world’s people have not had the opportunity to participate in their own governance and when they do, they usually do something stupid like voting socialist. Even with all of the historical benefits that Americans have benefitted from there are still about half of the population who cannot resist the siren song of socialism (oh whoops!—the democratic party).

The age of kings came to an end from the 18th through 19th century, followed by the age of radical ideologies causing many wars and destruction. As bad a the kings were, if a nation has a vote and they do not understand how to use it, it is like giving a loaded gun to a baby. Most of the nations that have elections end up voting the socialist way or some variation of it or they waver back and forth between left and right governments dictators. The right dictators do not win the hearts of the people while the left dictators often know how to promise that they really have the interests of the people at heart.

When this nation came into being in 1776, the rest of the world was in political darkness and it looks like it is going to remain the same way but with different players. We have to consider a possible scenario of the United States being surrounded by a hostile world of leftists and their muslim allies. We need some really bright and patriotic people who will fashion some new ways of dealing with this.

I’ve been trying to pick up old school textbooks. You can see the difference even in math texts, reading primers, and the like.

I’ve got a junior-high level history books with Columbus discovering America on the cover. Can you imagine that happening today?

You're right - didn't notice until you mentioned it... Is seems the forces of darkness and ignorance are reasserting themselves... it's depressing.

Thanks. Dave Dougherty and I deal about these themes in our forthcoming book, “A Patriot’s History of the Modern World,” due out in October. This is, however, the first volume that goes to 1945. Volume 2, to the present, will be out next year. That volume will deal with the rise of Islamic terrorism. These are VERY good books, if I do say so myself.
