Analysis: The summer Mitt Romney didn't want
Yahoo News ^ | July 15, 2012 | Rick Klein

Posted on 07/16/2012 3:04:03 AM PDT by Truth29

"Somehow, the summer of national economic discontent morphed into the summer of when Mitt Romney left Bain Capital and how many years' worth of tax returns he's released to the public.

Along the way, Romney has lost control of his campaign message, and lost perhaps his best opportunity to define himself to undecided voters."

And a week ago it was all downhill for Obama. What childish whining. Did conservatives think there wouldn’t be a campaign? It’s not Romney who’s a wimp, it’s childish conservatives. But then this is NOT unusual, in every election many freepers panic as soon as the conservative is attacked. Heck, half of you believe the attacks until calmer minds prevail.

People will not reelect Barack Obam simply because Romney’s former company outsourced some work.

The wisdom of the cooler head prevails. Great post.

LOL

Nope. He was seriously challenging obama’s use of EP to cover up an op that was done by his administration.

Thing is, was it something he will continue to talk about or was it a harmless flirtation with a lead trial balloon?

More like the summer blockbuster and sequel......”BAIN! THE RETURN OF HALIBURTON”. The story of another corporate name morphed into an evil enterprise that destroys jobs, takes money from the middle class, and starves children. Starring Mitt Romney and cameo appearances by Dick Cheney.

We have been the fight for sometime. The white flag was raised by squishy “Conservatives” a few months back, why we got Romney.

True patriots have no representation in the race, therefore the negativity is earned towards Mitt, we know him. Perhaps by pointing out his weakness now that they are becoming very clear the squishes will realize their mistake and either fix it (unlikely) or at least hold the SOBs feet to the fire instead of codling him and all that damn cheer-leading.

I have been wondering for quite some time as to why Sarah did not take up the challenge. Maybe it is coming into view now as I suspected when she announced she would not run.

She was better situated to see the landscape with regards to the GOPe and what they would have done again to marginalize her while she also would have been taking it both barrels from the left.

So why not make your case as she did with the bus tour and then continue as a pundit to keep that message going all the while the GOPe would eventually marginalize itself again. I believe she feels that Romney will win but in doing so revert back to the same old Stupid Party tactics of the GOPe that will cause even more to look at her again for a primary challenge in 16. The general public will know they have been fooled twice in essence being mad at both party establishments and at the same time mad at themselves. This is what it will take to get a grand majority to take serious consideration of true outsiders.

By then, both party establishments will have marginalized themselves and voters on both sides will be looking for a true alternative. Ron Paul will be way too old to mount another challenge and his supporters will glob onto anyone espousing small government like she does. Also, if the GOPe continues playing the insiders game when it comes to energy, she will still be there with her wheelhouse experience to answer the call and the direction of true leadership.

In the mean time, we need to focus on getting true conservatives into office on a local, state and national levels. The race for the Texas Senate is a prime example of what can be done if we cultivate and present true conservatives, committed to service and not a career in our pockets, to oust the establishment types. Only then will someone like Sarah have the mandate and honest support to put this whole episode of the last 100 years of our progressive history behind us with a direction and drive to return to the founders ideals.

IIRC, Mitt never got even 30% of any primary vote. The real problem is that the conservative camp was split among three or more candidates.

Sorta.

The real problem is that plurality "victory" should not be permitted in primary elections.

The distribution of delegates at the nominating convention should reflect the proportional support they had, pre-convention, and if there is no majority because that's the state of the party, so be it.

Being nominated should require 2/3 of the delegates (which it did prior to 1968), this would crush weak "frontrunners" and force the delegates to come up with someone acceptable to all factions.

and would love to deliver the death blow to the GOP(hell, he already did to the MA GOP)

To be fair, the MA GOP was there already -- always recruiting a liberal GOPer to run against any conservative with the temerity to run! I'll go to my grave convinced that the MA GOP recruited Romney to run for gov -- birds of a feather, you know!

“””It seems to me that Romney is the enemy.”””

Oh we are playing the “Seems to me” game. Okay, I will byte....
Seems to me that you and others are suffering a sickening type of political moral equivalence. I mean, do you really think that they both have equal enemy status? Really?.... Is there any doubt in your mind that Romney is at least a patriot and loves this country very much? Can the same be said about the current usurper Obama? Be honest with yourself... If we allow obama another term, we are on our way to socialism... no doubt..... So, whatever you think of Romney.... At least he has American values... Think Man, we need to defeat Obama.... That is the most valuable act we can do to save our union.

It is mitt that is running and it is mitt that must win this election and not the voter and certainly not Conservatives. Your opinion is mitt's opinion. Here is a flash of truth for you... mitt is not representative of the electorate that would vote for the gop in this coming election... in fact in some ways he is the polar opposite... and everyone including mitt knows that he is a liar and has changed all of his ideology 180 degrees to run this time. mitt will probably lose... not because of FR or Conservatives or “whiners”... but because mitt is just that bad... losing to obama... can there possibly be a worse legacy to leave behind. One good thing... there will not be another romney running for high office again... not in our lifetimes.

Agreed. Romney’s response to Obama’s nonsense is easy enough. Simply pointing out that Jeffrey Emelt, Obama’s job czar, happened to outsource jobs out of Ohio and Wisconsin (read: swing states) to China and declared on national television that GE’s next biggest market was going to be Brazil is game enough.

Obama has zero room to talk about outsourcing.

It’s also a much easier route to get Romney back to talking about policy, which frankly, he’s better at than Obama is.

Mr. RomneyCARE is only “courageous” when he appears
after a surrogate has put a knife into the back
of a real conservative, especially a woman candidate.

Mr. RomneyCARE is afraid to attack because he, himself,
has an incredibly weak, feigned, “record”, like Obama.

Remember, Mr. RomneyCARE was selected from millions
of conservatives by the DNC/MSM to be the GOPe candidate
precisely because Mr. RomneyCARE removes every issue
the GOP might have had.

That's all true and worth repeating. It's only July so I'm not sure why there is so much whining about Romney's ineffectiveness. In any case the next 4 years are going to either be an inflation party courtesy of the Fed or a taste of reality with rates that reflect economic reality (mortgages of 10-15% versus the current 3.5). The politicians will mostly determine the spending levels (ridiculous deficits versus merely large and unpayable deficits). In those senses it doesn't matter as much if Obama is reelected. What would matter is that the social fabric of self-reliance, private chartity, entrepreneurship, etc will take a huge hit under a continued Obama regime (not to mention cheap energy). But a Romney presidency won't save us either.

Obama spent $100 million in swing states attacking Romney on Bain Capital and the media have chimed in. And yet Obama hasn’t moved the needle in terms of electoral support in polls. I’d say it’s Obama who’s having the bad summer.

“”””Geez, newb, I’ve been posting here for over a decade.
Your boy Mitt destroyed conservative opposition in the primaries. He has been running for president for what, six years, and was not ready for this?””””

First of all, I have been here at least as long as you and used to post before under another name. So, do not try to diminish may disagreement with your political strategery by calling me newb. I am sorry if you feel offended but all I want is to save our country from this usurper. If I was a liberal and wanted to be a plant on this website to discourage conservatives... I would say some of the things you are saying.
Listen, Romney is our nominee he promises to be conservative on most issues we care about. So what ever you think of him, he is the only one with a chance to get rid of Obama.... And we must get rid of obama!!! Can’t you agree on that fundimental concept?
