The world’s largest military naval exercise – RIMPAC (Rim of the Pacific) is taking place this month in and around Hawaii, and includes bombing at the 133,000-acre Pohakuloa Training Area, in the center of Hawaii Island. RIMPAC involves 22 nations, 42 surface ships, six submarines, more than 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel.
The money required to eradicate hunger for everyone in the world has been estimated at $30 billion a year… about as much as the world spends on the military every eight days. The U.S.A. is the world’s top military spender, spending nearly as much as the rest of the world combined. Meanwhile, 28% of the children on Hawaii Island are food insecure. It’s time to set our priorities straight!

Blaming military exercises for what the writer could do something about quietly and without facebook fanfare tells me much about the person.
Pick any subject, The war on Drugs, public school systems, congressional spending, Greek finances, all could solve the worlds hunger problem. /s in a pigs eye!
In a representative Republic such as ours, Government nor its many agencies are constitutionally directed to solve the worlds hunger problems.
That is what humans and churches do, and if they do not, they suffer the judgement. They cannot pass the personal responsibility off on government.
Government is without compassion, and has no soul, it cares not about people, it should be engaged in protecting the rights of people to care for the less fortunate, the very few who cannot take care of themselves. There is no way in the United States of America that government should be running a welfare state with wic, snap, crackle and pop, for too many unwilling to work for a living.

A quick internet search revealed that in 2012, U.S. government provided $52.7 billion in economic assistance. $15 billion was military aid and $37.7 billion in economic assistance.
In addition, in 2004, it is calculated that $24.2 billion in economic aid was provided by U.S. private citizens to developing countries.
Take away? The blogger is very misinformed.
Most actual hunger ("food insecure" is nonsense) is caused by weather or war. Mostly war. Having armies trample your fields tends to reduce your harvests.
The weather is usually not enough rain when you need it. Irrigation systems would solve that problem.
Which people are not going to build when they have armies tramping across their fields. Irrigation systems being rather hard to pick up and move out of the danger area.
Which brings us back to the first problem.
Get rid of war and you get rid of most hunger problems.
Of course the best way to get rid of war is to have a stable government with the rule of law, respect for personal property and a strong military that will smack down tin-pot wana-bes.
Which is something these protesters don't want.
It is almost like they want people to be hungry.
