The worlds largest military naval exercise RIMPAC (Rim of the Pacific) is taking place this month in and around Hawaii, and includes bombing at the 133,000-acre Pohakuloa Training Area, in the center of Hawaii Island. RIMPAC involves 22 nations, 42 surface ships, six submarines, more than 200 aircraft and 25,000 personnel.
The money required to eradicate hunger for everyone in the world has been estimated at $30 billion a year about as much as the world spends on the military every eight days. The U.S.A. is the worlds top military spender, spending nearly as much as the rest of the world combined. Meanwhile, 28% of the children on Hawaii Island are food insecure. Its time to set our priorities straight!

Ha!
That's $2.5 billion per month.
There's probably 2.5 billion hungry people in the world.
They can each be fed for $1 per month?
about par for the course Duncan ; these people lie , exaggerate , obfuscate , commit hyperbole , and all around generally transmit anti-American , anti-U.S. military misinformation , all in the effort to generate grant money form Leftist supporting organizations , that they then in turn can live off of . Share with them your own good 2 cents .....
Honestly, looks like about 25 people to me.
They had a protest outside an ANG base near where I live a couple months ago. Anti-Droners. About the same size crowd, 15-20 people. No media coverage that I was aware of.
Pathetic.
Wonder how much of that grant money they then share with the ‘food insecure’ (obviously doesn’t hungry, else they’d say so) children in Hawaii?
....”and if THREE people do it, I say if three people do it, it’s a movement!”.....
In three part harmony.
My initial reaction is, typical Facebook/Social Networking crap.
Blaming military exercises for what the writer could do something about quietly and without facebook fanfare tells me much about the person.
Pick any subject, The war on Drugs, public school systems, congressional spending, Greek finances, all could solve the worlds hunger problem. /s in a pigs eye!
In a representative Republic such as ours, Government nor its many agencies are constitutionally directed to solve the worlds hunger problems.
That is what humans and churches do, and if they do not, they suffer the judgement. They cannot pass the personal responsibility off on government.
Government is without compassion, and has no soul, it cares not about people, it should be engaged in protecting the rights of people to care for the less fortunate, the very few who cannot take care of themselves. There is no way in the United States of America that government should be running a welfare state with wic, snap, crackle and pop, for too many unwilling to work for a living.
You asked, I respond. There is much much more to the story.
Just wondering, does the UN contribute to the cost of feeding the world’s hungry?
Those who bitch about the cost of Military operations are the first to pray for protection.
Who, that is you and me and the rest of the US taxpayers, is footing the bill? Not the complainers. A friend from Scotland puts it this way. “Why should we have submarines, the Americans have enough.” This is the attitude of the rest of the world, let those Americans, whose streets are paved with gold, pay for it.” Makes me sick.
They want less money spent on the Navy? Then stop buying that stupid green algae gas for our ships —it costs 20x more than the real stuff.
Oh, wait..! Yes, Obama’s BUDDIES formulate it —well, sure, then THAT is ok, suuuure...!
The money required to eradicate hunger for everyone in the world has been estimated at $30 billion a year
A quick internet search revealed that in 2012, U.S. government provided $52.7 billion in economic assistance. $15 billion was military aid and $37.7 billion in economic assistance.
In addition, in 2004, it is calculated that $24.2 billion in economic aid was provided by U.S. private citizens to developing countries.
Take away? The blogger is very misinformed.
Most actual hunger ("food insecure" is nonsense) is caused by weather or war. Mostly war. Having armies trample your fields tends to reduce your harvests.
The weather is usually not enough rain when you need it. Irrigation systems would solve that problem.
Which people are not going to build when they have armies tramping across their fields. Irrigation systems being rather hard to pick up and move out of the danger area.
Which brings us back to the first problem.
Get rid of war and you get rid of most hunger problems.
Of course the best way to get rid of war is to have a stable government with the rule of law, respect for personal property and a strong military that will smack down tin-pot wana-bes.
Which is something these protesters don't want.
It is almost like they want people to be hungry.
Hungry, and dependent on them for food.

Check out P.J. O'Rourke’s book “All The Trouble in the World”. There is a great chapter on man made famine.
War?
I think it was Plato that said only the dead have seen the end of it.
Maybe this assclown could volunteer for a local Food Bank and really provide food for folks. Nobody needs his mouth contribution.

LOL!!! I’m just trying to watch my language, but I see you got the point I was trying to make.
