Would someone please explain to me what a "licensed gun" is.

At the point of sale in Massachusetts, the dealer fills out a state form with all identifying data on the weapon and to who it was sold. The form goes to the police department. I'm guessing that the information also goes to the State Police.

So, I am understanding that in some states—certainly not mine—there is such a thing as a “licensed gun.”
