What Obama is Thinking in Promise to Make Texas a Battleground
Yahoo Voices ^ | July 18, 2012 | Mark R. Whittington

According to the Washington Examiner, President Obama ventured to Texas in search of more campaign cash. However, while addressing a crowd of donors, Obama actually suggested that the Lone Star State would become a battleground state "soon."

On the surface, this seems like a mad thing to say. Texas is about as deep red a state as there is in the union, with all statewide offices and both houses of the legislature in the hands of the Republicans. The last time a Democrat carried Texas, Jimmy Carter was running for president in 1976

Unless he intends to make it literally a battle ground.

If 5 million illegals each vote twice, Texas is a battleground state.

Maybe we are missing the real meaning.

Maybe he means a battleground in the courts:

Immigration.

Obummer care.

Voter ID.

And more.

Maybe this is the key to his Texas battleground statement:

Napalitano: Obama suing every Republican governor to hinder Repub election chances

FUBO!

Yall come own down here. It is not like you think.

There were Tejanos and Gringos at both the Alamo and San Jacinto. Good Hispanic business men took your statement this week the same as Gringos.

Texas is not where you were born but a State of Mind, Heart and Attitude.

Texas will within the next 10 years be a blue state.

Here's why:

1) Liberal Democrats have migrated in mass from California to Texas.

2) Hispanics are growing in record numbers and illegal immigration in Texas is completely out of control (hence the fight over voter ID laws).

3) Blacks from Louisiana have migrated to Texas in huge numbers over the last few years (mostly due to Katrina).

4) The entitlement culture is taking hold among all demographics here, just as it is in most other states.

In short, Texas as a conservative state, is in its death throes.

Obama doesn’t realize the illegals in TX are smart enough to vote Republican so they can have jobs and $ to spend.

That one isn’t one you can blame Obama for. Illegals have been swarming across the border for decades and liberals have been going to Texas for quite a while too. Texas is also in the top ten in muslim population.

This stuff was going on long before anyone ever heard of Obammy.

I think the most important factor is the Texas pride. Pride in one’s state is a good thing but one also needs to question that pride enough to accept that things aren’t perfect.

Hell I love Michigan and I have pride in my state but I know we’re a basket case and that keeps me trying to make it better. We’re drifting rightward partly due to fleeing liberals and partly due to one of the most aggressive tea party sentiments in the country.

I keep hearing that, but so far haven't seen it.

The Democrats are so disheartened that they aren't even really contesting the Senate seat.
