Christie tapped as keynote speaker for Republican convention

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will deliver the keynote address at next month's Republican National Convention in Tampa, FL.

NBC News' Jamie Gangel reported Wednesday that Christie would be afforded the plum speaking slot at the convention, a gig that sometimes serves as a launching pad for political figures with ambitions of higher office. The selection of Christie, though, would seem to suggest that Christie is not likely the choice by Mitt Romney to serve as the GOP's vice presidential nominee.

Typically, the keynote speaker is separate from the vice presidential nominee, who, like the presidential nominee, speaks on separate nights.

Republicans have not yet released a detailed itinerary of the speaking schedule for their convention.

there are certain cases where the life of the mother is at direct risk from her pregnancy , therefore the baby is lost in the process of saving the mother...this is very rare. So as tragic as it is to loose the baby, it is not intentionally trying to kill the child. thus, not intrinsically evil, where abortion's specific goal is to kill a human being, which can never be justified.

the 'life of the mother' claim is a bit vague though, particularly when spoken by a politician..it sounds so logical..unfortunately its just another way to provide wiggle room to abortion industry or to communicate 'wink-wink I'm actually pro-choice'.

Well put and I agree on the moral question here.

You can’t really enforce the morality totally. I believe it was a founding father who said that this system of government assumes and requires moral people.

I think the ‘life of the mother’ exemption is moral - as you described it. I also think politicians and abortionists will use it for immoral purposes nonetheless.

thanks for your reply.

And this is a CONSERVATIVE web forum. Not a GOP-e cheerleading section.

If you like squishy, spineless, a-hole "Republicans" who are little more than Democrat light, there are other places for you to go and sell out your principles on.

"Ignorant" my ass newbie...

If it's human, killing it is by definition murder. Life of the Mother does come into play though if the baby is killing Mom... This is rare, as it should be. Mom should also be given the option of giving up her life so her child may live.

Having an "oops" because you are promiscuous should not be justification enough for an ongoing campaign of murder...

Sounds like if we can just avoid Jebbie or Condi for VP, we can proclaim success with the hand the uninformed Republican primary voters have served us again!

Nobody is doing cheerleading for GOP-e. Nobody said anything about liking “squishy, spineless, a-hole Republicans”. Just trying to educate you before you lose all your credibility.

Actually, you are doing some cheer leading right now. Which makes your “ credibility” non-existent...

After everything we've been through, after 2010, through the primaries, they pick Christie as a keynote?

Morons.

Gov. Crispy Cream of NJ is absolutely the wrong OPTIC for the party.

He will represent a party which is out of touch with starving poor people.

OMG! I guess I have only seen Christy standing behind a podium, I had no idea he was such a porker!

If he has to speak, do it by video.

He is clearly the wrong OPTIC !

400 lbs of blubber is very poor marketing.

Crispie Cream sells the same old excess, out of control.
