Exclusive: Interview With James Michael Holmes, Hispanic Tea Party Member Falsely Accused by ABC
Big Government ^ | July 20, 2012 | Joel B. Pollak

Posted on 07/20/2012 11:26:26 AM PDT by Free ThinkerNY

Breitbart News spoke to James Michael Holmes, the Tea Party member falsely identified this morning by ABC News' Brian Ross and George Stephanopoulos on Good Morning America as the possible suspect in the mass shooting early this morning at a screening of the new Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises. He is a 52-year-old Hispanic conservative who joined the Tea Party after becoming disillusioned with the Republican party.

"It was freaky," said Holmes, describing his reaction when ABC News speculated that he was the culprit who entered a crowded theater and opened fire on dozens of innocent men, women, and children. He disconnected his telephone and says that he is worried about members of his family who might be contacted by the media.

ABC News has since corrected its initial report, but tried to share the blame with "social media" and "members of the public" at first:

An earlier ABC News broadcast report suggested that a Jim Holmes of a Colorado Tea Party organization might be the suspect, but that report was incorrect. Several other local residents with similar names were also contacted via social media by members of the public who mistook them for the suspect.

Now the correction has been updated, with ABC News and Brian Ross taking full responsibility, and apologizing:

An earlier ABC News broadcast report suggested that a Jim Holmes of a Colorado Tea Party organization might be the suspect, but that report was incorrect. ABC News and Brian Ross apologize for the mistake, and for disseminating that information before it was properly vetted.

I’m sure they did it in purpose and for obvious reasons.... I highly doubt it had anything to do with being politically correct....

The fact that he is Hispanic is germane to the discussion, because the media wants to portray the Tea Party as a white supremacist organization. Therefore, anytime we can highlight the fact that it isn’t, we undermine the media narrative.

Before this is all over, former heavyweight boxing champion Larry Holmes will probably be contacted and asked if he knows the shooter.

There is a reason they are called the ‘enemedia’, ‘enemy’ + ‘media’ that needs an ‘enema’.

Dumb asses.

I think Mr. Holmes needs to issue a statement:

"It's sad that that in the midst of this tragedy the liberal media is falling back, as they have done in the case of George Zimmerman, on the democratic notion that Hispanic males are automatically guilty when they can be associated with violence. This same stereotype of Hispanic males as heartless killers was persued by the White House in their Fast and Furious operation, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of innocent people. It is a notion that the White and their press surrogates should abandon as it serves neither justice or truth."

James Michael Holmes != James Eagan Holmes (Dec. 13, 1987)

What qualifies Brian Ross to be a reporter?

ABC News and Brian Ross apologize for the mistake, and for disseminating that information before it was properly vetted.

That's just it. By ABC standards, it was properly vetted. They presented the story first to their political editor/officer who reviewed it and said, "This is exactly the political angle we are looking for. Go ahead and run it".

They accused the wrong guy of the act. That is slander and false publishing.

Now, I had a dude on another thread say that since ABC apologized, its all over.

NOPE NADDA..it aint over. The act caused serious harm to this fellow and unless he accepted the apology in writing, ABC is liable.

I see a BIG law suit and if this guy is as patriotic as a tea party person he should be, he must sue and the demands should include that both Ross and Stephy resign. Then top it off with a billion dollar suit, if that amount is possible.

While you are correct in general about the Left having pre-empted our language and concepts that is not what is happening with bb here. They are using to fact that the guy is a Hispanic Tea Party guy to refute the implicit and explicit lie that the Tea Party is some sort of racist, anti-Hispanic group as is so often claimed in the Treason Media.

Very effective undermining of the Lies.

I can’t help but wonder how much Zero pays ABC and its reporters to eff up the news? They all need to be sued ad infinitem. Just because.

Does the Tea Party have any real (corporate) existence? It could not sue otherwise.

Holmes DEFINITELY should sue.

Such a suit may not get him any money but this would cost ABC nonetheless.

Another and glaring example of media and cultural bias at work. If any indication of a leaning to the right surfaces, this shooter will be held up for months, years, decades as an example of a dangerous/murderous right-wing extremism”.

But if he shows up leftist, even a devoted leftist, convocations of intellectuals will be presented on air to convince us all that this was the act of pure and simple nut case.

Check out Manson & Family (esp. Squeaky). Check out the Arizona shooter, his writings and his devotion to a terrorist neo-communist rock group.
