Warner Bros., the studio releasing “The Dark Knight Rises,” is considering whether to cancel screenings across the country after a massacre took place at a midnight screening in Colorado that left 12 moviegoers dead in the early hours of Friday.

Executives at the Hollywood studio were gathered at the Burbank offices from the middle of the night, struggling with whether to alter roll-out plans for the second-biggest release in movie history.

An executive told TheWrap that Warner was watching the situation and still considering whether to take further measures beyond cancelling the Paris premiere, including cancelling screenings at theater chains.

The executive said they would be making decisions on Friday and throughout the weekend as they conferred within the studio, monitored news reports and spoke to theater chains.

This is stupid

It’s not like the movie had anything to do with it

it was just the location this a-hole decided to go to

For the luvofPete, there's more normal people than freaks and Black whatevers. You let them terrorize you and they've won.

Just tell your customers to bring their pistols.

Bad movies, bad rock music make people do bad things.

Every theater should cancel the showing of the movie.

Meanwhile, behind closed doors, the execs are rubbing their hands with glee over the all the publicity.

I know I’m an old fogey, but I believe movies that portray explicit violence are sick, and it’s getting worse all the time. There seems to be no form of torture, bloodletting, or murder that is off limits. It’s porn just like explicit sex scenes are porn. To what base instincts does this disgusting gore appeal? As the Bible says, put no worthless things before your eyes.

Dumb idea to blame the movie for a nut case.

This little tidbit of info may need it’s own thread. Harvey Levin from TMZ just said they’re part of the Warner Brothers family and their plans are to go forward with the movie because:

“They’ve been checking and nobody has asked for their money back.”

I kid you not. He also said there’s no need for a premier because now everyone is talking about the movie.

Every theater should cancel the showing of the movie.

Not only that - every Batman comic should be burned, all Batman merchandise should be confiscated & all bats (and robins, just to be safe) should be shot on sight.

Whatever, but just out of respect, they’re going to have to pull it - and not after the weekend, within the next hour.

It’s a tough decision, a lot of people are counting on the revenue, not just the execs.

They’ll regret it if they don’t.

Just my opinion.

You can bet Mikey “Bloomers” Bloomberg is already working on banning it in New Yawk City.

I wouldn’t be surprised if it turned out that the shooting was provoked by the infantile quality of this glorious entertainment product.

If they are going to cancel the all night screenings, they better get on it. We don’t need copy cats coming out of the woodwork.

Is anyone here old enough to remember the movie palace (there were movie palaces in those days!) massacre on the day that Frank Capra's It's a Wonderful Life movie premiered?

Cancelling screenings could backfire in my opinion. It would give a warped sense of power to the shooter of last night and might encourage other copycats to do something similar when the movie reopens so they too can shut the movie down.

Lot of nutjobs out there. You know, John Hinckley types.

Every theater should cancel the showing of the movie.

Also, we should all head over to Adam West's house; gather on his front lawn; and give him really, really mean looks.

Seeing as how he has just as much to do with what happened last night as a Hollywood movie does.
