If you 'didn't build that,' they can take it
The Orange County Register ^ | 7-22-2012 | The Orange County Register Editorial Boarad

President Barack Obama, who promised to transform America, told a campaign gathering this week, "If you've got a business, you didn't build that."

Whether you take his words at face value or prefer to infer he simply meant government can help businesses by building bridges and roads, the president's speech was troubling.

Implicit in the president's message is that private individuals and privately held companies are not sufficient. Big Government is the engine that pulls the train, in his view. . .

James Taranto in the WSJ as quoted in the Orange Country Register editorial:

The president should have said: "If you've got a business – you did build that. Somebody in the government just made it more difficult for you to do it."

Similar to our rights being God-given: if they aren’t given to us by God, they’re given by government; in which case they can be taken by government.

Whether you believe in God or not, it makes sense to maintain these rights as given by God, if you don’t want government to have the means to take those rights away...

Note also the date of publication.
Two days into the future.

We are reading Sunday’s excerpt today! The prescience is blinding in it’s excerptage.

When Warren or Obama proudly announce that business did not create a building, that someone else created the building, they are highlighting their socialist belief and proud of it. They are misguided and it would be cute if such ignorance was not in power doing horrific damage to our country. It is appalling.

For a business to have contracted a builder to build the building the business and the contractor had to agree upon a trade off of mutually rewarding benefits for each party. The business gets a building and the builders get money to use where they see fit.

Once the building is finished and the contractor is paid, is the contractor still owner of the building? Does he still have a say in what is done there? No of course not. He was paid for his services therefore it is the end of the contract. Liberals believe that they own everything forever, like perpetual children that never grow up becoming responsible for themselves.

After a doctor helps give birth to a baby does he still have responsibility for the baby’s outcome? Does he have to pay for its diapers or in parenting of this child? No he got paid for his services and the parents got their baby. The liberals believe that society owns the baby forever.

After a waiter brings me the food that I order is the waiter responsible for paying for it? After all, I didn’t make it. Of course not but the Liberals believe they own all the food that others produced forever. The producers should want to give all their hard work away with no chance of getting anything for themselves. Those selfish capitalist!!

This is the perfect example of a socialist. They do not believe in ownership. They hate capitalist.

With this gang rule or community ownership of the world, there is no responsibility. This philosophy goes against the nature of man. When man is not responsible for the fruits of his labor nothing will last. If man does not own his labor he has no reason to be responsible. What would be the incentive for any individual to make any effort at all to produce goods to trade so as to sustain their own life if anyone can come in and take the fruits of their labor without trade of mutual benefit? Whether they realize it or not liberals are proponents of death and chaos.

Comrade, the means of production belong to the people. There is no such thing as private ownership.
That is the only moral way.

(Standing ovation)
That was magnificent!

Obama is the anti-Jefferson.

Thank you, Mark, for posting this article. It’s good to hear a voice of sanity from CA. (I used to live there.)

I especially like the last line -

The president should have said: “If you’ve got a business – you did build that. Somebody in the government just made it more difficult for you to do it.”

Indeed.

Here is another observation: Most business start-ups fail within the first two years. That said, that means if your business fails YOU didn’t fail, other people did.

If he wants to claim the successes then he has to claim the failures.
