Powerful conservative Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., thinks former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin deserves a prime speaking position at the Republican convention.

"I'd love to see Sarah Palin have a big slot — as far as speaking — because there's no one still in America that excites the base of conservatives and even libertarians as she does,” he told Fox News Thursday.

“She can draw a crowd more than any other Republican, and I think has more influence in primaries than any other endorsement right now, so I think she'd be good."

Actually, the book is written in a very fair, evenhanded manner. The author is complimentary of Romney at times and even seems to be somewhat of an admirer. But the thread that runs through the narrative, repeated from many sources, is that he’s unknowable unless you’re a rich Mormon. He simply isn’t interested in you otherwise.

Also interesting was the description of how he came by his political “convictions”. He would ask how the issues were viewed by this group or that, but it never occurred to him to figure out how he felt, himself. In other words, he played to his audience.

All of this is pretty much in keeping with what we already know of Willard.

I think Palin realizes the gravity of the situation if Obama wins another 4 years of his regime, so I would expect that she would wade into the convention of RINO’s to shred Obama.

If she could do a repeat of her spectacular first speech and take down Obama, that would be a good service to the country.

I don’t think she should speak, because the nominee isn’t a real conservative. If she spoke, she would have to poke all the establishment in the eye, repeatedly, and they don’t want that. By doing what’s right, she would upstage the entire reason for the convention, thereby pointing out all of Romney’s shortcomings. It’s sad that we have to twist ourselves in order to support this nominee.
