Sex-crime victim could be jailed for tweeting her attackers' names

Savannah Dietrich, 17, could be locked up on contempt-of-court charges for tweeting the names of her attackers after they allegedly got a sweetheart plea bargain, according to a published report. * * * The judge in the case had further protected the sex fiends by placing a gag order that barred Dietrich from talking about what happened to her.

“There you go, lock me up,” tweeted Dietrich, who agreed that her name be made public although she is a sex-crime victim. “I’m not protecting anyone that made my life a living Hell.” Good for her. If she was a willing participant, that’s one thing. If not, then it is a crime and I say “shout it from the housetops”.

“Because a woman is passed out at a party, she doesn’t become free game for rape.”

I specifically said in an earlier post that I didn't defend the perps. I don't think a woman who passed out “becomes a free game for rape.” All I said was I think there is more to the story.

“Because a woman is passed out at a party, she doesn’t become free game for rape.”

I agree, even though I implied the opposite. What I was getting at is that the recording of the crime elevates it to an even higher level and, if anything, those “children” should get some serious punishment.

If there were no recording, then the damage is less to the victim (like it or not) as it’s only a he-said/she-said situation and she can (mostly) put it behind her, once she gets away from that bunch. And yes, it’s a crime, but unless there are a lot of witnesses willing to talk, or solid evidence, a prosecution is much tougher and cutting a deal makes more sense.

If there are photos, then there is evidence. The girl is suffering from sexual trauma, complete humiliation as those photos have been publicized. SHe is unable to sleep. There is no way we can factor in the psychological damage done to her. Just because she was passed out, does not mean her body does not retrain the trauma that occurred. Then there is is the additional embaressment and then the lack of justice by the judge downgrading the charges. This whole case is a disgrace.

Do you want to know what is going on - something that has been going on for a long time. Sexual victims are not treated well often. Their cases are ignored, ridiculed, etc. more than you care to know. It is only when a case becomes highly publicized do we see corrective action.

Yes, by all means...let’s blame the victim here.

This could mean several things.

First of all, that she was penetration raped, in one form or another. Second that what she calls rape wasn’t, but was a form of sex abuse, which could even include posing and photographing, which is pretty common.

Third, it could mean that the boys had, or had not raped, were charged with rape, then the charges were plea bargained to sexual abuse.

Fourth, that the offense and charges were always sexual abuse, and were plea bargained from a D felony to an A misdemeanor, or from an A misdemeanor to a B misdemeanor.

Most people assume that she was raped, and the defense plea bargained down from a much more serious rape felony, probably 5-10 years, to a B misdemeanor, which is unlikely because of all the other variables between the two.

In any event, her tactic of violating the judge’s order is actually a good one, which puts the judge on the spot, as if she doesn’t punish the girl, the order is effectively dead and the girl can get a retrial in the court of public opinion, and really punish the boys.

And if she does punish the girl, the judge will be vilified from around the country, and might even be forced from office.

“She goes to a party and drinks until she passes out and then claims she was raped.”

My sympathy for her went out the window when I found that out.

If you want to run out into the freeway and play, go ahead, but don’t blame someone else when you’re driven over.

Based on what I know so far, put her in jail.

Where are NOW, the feminazi and other usual suspects?
Gloria Allred, for one, is probably not interested in this one as it has no celebrity value.

There have been enough cases, just on this site, of guys getting their lives wrecked because “the girl was mad at him” (often a step-dad, or some other authority figure). There is a reason to be suspicious before you TOTALLY WRECK the life of a person who simply might have a (totally legal) style that some girls don’t like.

In other words, I see both sides. In this case, assuming what’s on the video is clear-cut, these guys need some serious time in the clink.

So being drunk means she wasn’t violated even though she was passed out at the time? If she didn’t give consent, it’s rape.

“SHE chose to get drunk.”

And the boys CHOSE to take advantage of her. Don’t set a fire if you don’t want to get burned. It works both ways.

she wasn’t playing on the freeway. She was minding her own business after drinking. Someone else chose to play on the freeway, not her.
