Letterman continues to mouth the same lies about fracking - contemptible deception with no basis in reality.
We finally have an energy source that has tremendously reduced the cost to heat and light the homes of the poor, by multiples, create well paying jobs by the thousands and put states' budgets into surpluses - and what does the Democratic Party and its chimp-astronauts continue to do? Trash it, destroy it and then bow down to the Mid-East Caliphs who take trillions of our wealth to sell us their oil. (Obama and his chimps publicly said that we need to buy Brazil's oil (rather than develop our own)). Obama and his chimps would rather spit in the face of Canada, our greatest ally, and dare them to sell their oil to the Chinese rather than allow a pipeline to be built into America.
Where is Romney on this? He should be tattooing this on the blank faces of Obama's chimp-astronaut army.

Growing up in Western NY (north of PA) there have been TV reports for years, well before Fracking, showing ignitable water from faucets. Natural occurring gas in water wells is rare but not very rare.
Liberals use any method possible to push their agenda including junk science because they are rarely challenged. At least with the internet some challenges are taking place but it is hard to erase the damage done by our MSM and our communist infiltrated public educations system.
I’ve been holding opinion on fracking to “wait and see” as the drilling has been getting closer and closer to me.
The newest site lights up our night sky now and is close enough for them to reach underneath us.
So...we will wait and see.
I have a question for those who are more in the know than I am.
What is the standard procedure if the crew drilling a new gas well find an old orphan oil well?
By this time, you'd think they would have come up with a few major stories about people who have gotten sick/died from the chemicals and made a big movie about it.
The biggest thing I've seen is that video which shows water from a faucet on fire. But that is easily explained by naturally occurring methane in a well.
Fracking is just as safe if not safer than other drilling methods. This is all just the usual fear-mongering to slow business advances.
The problem is - it seems - is that when fracking is not perfectly fine, and when the companies make a settlement with property owners, those people have to agree not to speak out publicly in order to receive compensation.
This just happened in Wyalusing PA.

In the Wyalusing case, the property owners insisted on being able to speak out.
There are settlements made all the time with big business. An incident doesn't mean the problem in fracking is widespread or any more dangerous than any other kind of industry.
Accidents will happen. I was just talking to an ex-EPA employee the other day who is adamant that coal, for example, needs to continue to be regulated by the federal Gov't because of some deaths which might take place from polluted air. But I made the point to him that because there are isolated injuries/deaths this does not mean that hundred of thousands of people's means for providing meals on the table should be taken away...utopian safety standards are just not possible. I'm sure you already know this but the incident is still fresh in my mind so I thought I would relate it.

I haven’t ever sided with any industry over another - or claimed any problems were widespread.
The local reaction to the influx of drillers has been a mixed bag.
Of course everyone likes economic growth and an expanding tax base.
At first people were mad about the roads getting torn up, but the companies did a good job repairing them.
The increase in crime has been the major complaint. Local county jails are overflowing, and the cost for that has skyrocketed.
It appears some of these companies are not vigilant about the illegal immigrant status of some of their employees.
Extreme traffic in small towns where their streets and roads cannot accommodate it was a main complaint in areas like Wellsboro and Towanda.
We had a well blowout in LeRoy PA. and subsequent well testing indicates last year’s rains helped resolve that problem.
The situation in Dimock probably is what most people point to as a reason for their distrust.
There is an impression that - if your well goes bad - the company will say...you can’t prove it’s our fault. We came to your area because methane was already here.
And so people are worried if they are one of the unlucky ones, they will get strong armed this way, and be stuck with a worthless piece of property. Who will buy a house when you can’t use the water?
Maybe if the companies worked a little harder on compensating some of these people that would help their PR problem.

Possibly. But the communist/EPA/anti-American business assault would continue so I'm not sure it would help a whole lot.
