Alderman to Chick-fil-A: No deal

Moreno tries to block restaurant that opposes gay marriage from opening in his Northwest Side ward

A Chicago alderman wants to kill Chick-fil-A's plans to build a restaurant in his increasingly trendy Northwest Side ward because the fast-food chain's top executive vocally opposes gay marriage.

Ald.Proco "Joe" Moreno announced this week that he will block Chick-fil-A's effort to build its second Chicago store, which would be in the Logan Square neighborhood, following company President Dan Cathy's remarks last week that he was "guilty as charged" for supporting the biblical definition of marriage as between a man and woman.

Since when does a city councilman have the power to stop a private business from setting up shop? Is this now part of their job description?

And we have a peon alderman who thinks he can be a dictator and determine which businesses should or should not have the freedom to operate their business.

"You have the right to say what you want to say, but zoning is not a right," he said, adding that he also had concerns about traffic in the area.

You also have a right to equal protection of the laws and to due process.

Seems to me “ Chick-Fil-A - Banned in Boston, Banned in Chicago. Come see what’s too good for them to allow there.” would be a great advertising slogan.

Charge the Alderman with a hate crime..... Sue him and the city.
You can bet your bottom dollar that if this was reversed and some Alderman was trying to stop a business that openly supports perverts, there would be hell raising in the media over that.

Members of my family eat at Chick-Fil-A a number times a week.

Chick-Fil-A is a sponsor on a number of the schools in the local area “Power Cards”. Cards cost $10 and schools sell them at the start of the school year as a fund raiser.

Chick-Fil-A’s deal is a free chicken sandwich when ordering a # 1 Meal. Texas Road House’s is a free Cactus Blossom with two entree’s.

Biggest sellers of the power cards are the private religious schools.

Why would any self-respecting business want to set up shop in the cauldron of corruption known as Chicago, anyway? This is a blessing!

People who live in a sewer will eat any kind of crap.

ChickFilet should abandon the effort and move on.

So you can build a Bombmakers College (i.e., a “mosque”) on every other streetcorner, but you can’t open a fast food franchise because the owner believes in God?

File this one under “civil rights violation” and “restraint of trade” and Chick-Fil-A will make more money on the lawsuit than they will on the restaurant.

Let me just say I am no big fan of Mike Huckabee. I won’t bash him, I just don’t find him to be a very strong advocate for most of conservatism...but I fully, 100% supporft him and his effort to help Chick-Fil-A stand against the haters.

Pro-marriage and pro-Bible and pro-Western Civilization and CHRISTIAN does *not* mean hatred for sinful people who happen to be homosexual. And *celebrating* sodomy and then condemning people who happen to OPPOSE *celebrating* sodomy is infringing upon their belief system.

I say all that to say this: I am again going to eat at Chick-Fil-A today for lunch or maybe dinner to boost Huckabee’s project.

Enter the REAL bullies. The activist homosexuals and their supporters. The whole fake “I'm offended” premise is pure horsecrap bully tactics. Their success with this tactic has people supporting them in ignorance and based on emotional reactions more than anything else.

Ignorance? Yes, totally. Making people believe that a lifestyle choice (their words just 7 or so years ago) equal that of innateness as if being gay is just like being black or Asian or white is sickening and frightful. It basically means that if I create a good enough emotional argument I can justify ANYTHING.

Emotional? Yes, combined with ignorance of just what a right is and what family is we are witnessing people become part of the willful destruction of the basic foundations of a healthy society. Expect this to get worse. Expect all manner of people to demand equality for their own happiness in the strangest and weirdest of ways...from pedophiles to those who wish to marry a tree.

I enjoyed the line about not reflecting Chicago’s values.

And what are the values we are talking about?

Well we know one - blind support of same sex marriage.

But, what about the other values displayed in Chicago? Like the annual murder rate that could lead to over 500 murders this year alone? How about the long history of political corruption?

“So now we have the Chick-Fil-A civil war.”

Well said! CWII is off to an earlier start than predicted.

Consider the odds: Chick Fil-A patrons versus the angry two percenters. But when you order your `Chikin’ sandwich and take your seat, be on the lookout for Alinsky-style invasions as the Lavender Community has threatened militant kiss-ins at Chick Fil-A restaurants.

When that happens I will take my seat and throw it at them as hard as I possibly can.

"Chick-fil-A values are not Chicago values," the mayor said in a statement when asked about Moreno's decision.

Well PRAISE GOD FOR THAT!!!

I will make it a habit to eat at Chick Fil A. I will also make it a point never to set foot in Chicago.

Chick-Fil-A values are MY VALUES. Chicago doesn't deserve a Chick-Fil-A.
