Mayo Clinic Fires Doctor Advocating Female Genital Mutilation

The Mayo Clinic has fired one of their doctors for advocating female genital mutilation. Dr. Hatem Elhagaly, left, a Muslim pediatrician, was dismissed from the top-notch clinic for promoting a practice that is illegal in America but, in his words, "honors Islam."
The barbaric practice has no health benefits to women. On the contrary, in addition to the emotional and psychological trauma of the procedure, mutilation of female genitals can cause severe bleeding, urinary problems, painful mentruation, cysts, complication in childbirth, sterility and death.
In a statement released announcing Elhagaly's dismissal, the Mayo Clinic wrote, "Female circumcision in children, referred to as female genital mutilation in U.S. legal statutes, is a felony-level child abuse crime. Mayo Clinic strongly opposes the procedure and it has never been performed at any Mayo Clinic facility."
An internet blog devoted to cutting-edge medical practices and treatments says that Elhagaly "justifies this position by referring repeatedly to the words of classical Islamic scholars from the four schools of mainstream Sunni Islamic thought, all of which attest to FGM's legitimacy under Islam. He also refers to the words of the Prophet Muhammad himself, who reportedly counselled people in his day on how to perform FGM in a way that would be 'more beautiful to behold and better for [the woman's] husband.' "

Slaves owners. IMO I can't understand women who put up with this. These animals just tolerate females so they can produce other male animals to sacrifice in jihads. That is no life. They are slaves...that identify with their capturer. There's a name for that.

Uh Oh....I smell a lawsuit. How dare the hospital go against this man’s religious beliefs. I think after obama hears about it, this hospital will have it’s own wing to honor the muslim religion regarding this practice.
No doubt he was trained, at least partially in this country with government (read: our taxes) grants.
Because we are allowing record numbers of Muslims into our country, and they have large numbers of children. It’s that simple.

Hopefully the NOW gang will protest in support of this guy because they are bosom buddies with CAIR. And then the rest of us can watch to see if the MSM realizes that NOW is once again allying with the oppressors of women.
I don’t know what this guy is talking about. Female circumcision is rare of outside of africa. Turks dont do it. Iranians dont do it. Iraqis dont do it. Afghanis and pakistanis dont do it.
I would probably bet on the Mayo Clinic on this one.

I see these people all over the place now and not that many years ago never saw them. Is this their reward for incinerating 3000 + of our innocent people?
The very worst thing Obama and his co-horts have done to this country long term is to let these people in.
