I remember when George Wallace was shot by Arthur Bremer. The whole thing was caught on film but he was still the “alleged” shooter till after the trial.

I don’t remember if Jack Ruby was also referred to as the “alleged” shooter of Lee Harvey Oswald, or if Oswald was referred to as the “alleged” shooter of John Kennedy.

I don’t recall “alleged” being used by the media and political activists in reference to the Zimmerman case in Florida.
