CHICAGO, July 26, 2012, (Operation Rescue)—New documents released in the Tonya Reaves tragedy reveal a timeline leading to her death that clearly shows Planned Parenthood delayed summoning emergency care for the dying woman for five-and-a-half hours after a severely botched abortion.

At 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Reaves received a second-trimester dilation and evacuation (D&E) abortion at Planned Parenthood, located at 18 S. Michigan Ave. in Chicago.

After the abortion, Reaves suffered bleeding. The bleeding continued at Planned Parenthood for five-and-a-half hours before a Fire Department ambulance finally took her to Northwestern Memorial Hospital at 4:30 p.m. according to a report from Steve Miller of the CBS news affiliate WBBM.

Planned Parenthood only waited 4 1/2 hours before calling an ambulance. Maybe they hoped the woman would bleed to death before the ambulance came.

Woman has twin sister who has been asked about this case.

At this point family members are referring to attorneys since it appears a wrongful death suit may come out of this tragedy.

The lawsuit (when filed) should include:

Planned Parenthood of Illinois

Planned Parenthood of America

Planned Parenthood of International

One reason to cite other parts of Planned Parenthood is there policies that they have in place I am sure contributed to this wrongful death...

Time to go after Planned Parenthood's deep pockets.

They were primarily interested in aborting the fetus first, at all costs.

Oops! The bleeding occurred for 5 1/2 hours, not 4 1/2 hours.

How can any medical facility allow this happen (must not be a medical facility...)

Maybe people should go to a Vet for an abortion, and tell the Vet not to fix them (as they do for cats and dogs).

They might get better treatment than at an abortion clinic...

/sarcasm off ...

Our local PP here in Pittsburgh was cited by the dept of health because patients in the “recovery” area were not be monitored by nurses & the staff did not have physician oversight. There was a brief article online from the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, but (surprise!) it seems to have disappeared.

Article says the ER had to do two ultrasounds. One showed the abortion was incomplete (an Oops abortion). The other showed the uterus punctured (a double Oops abortions).

Can you contact the Department of Health to get a copy of the Citation? Then some Pro-Life group can post it online.

Maybe LifeSiteNews.com would be interested or LifeNews.com (Steven Ertelt) would be interested.

What was the approximate date of the article?

I’m not surprised.

Put them in the recovery room, tell them, “Some bleeding is normal. It will stop soon.” and then never go back until the “patient” asks if they can leave.

probably a very sharp hangar with the damage done... /sarcasm off

On a more serious note, the NAACP and Black Congressional Caucus should be outraged at how this patient was neglected at this abortion clinic.

If they do not, they are genuine HYPOCRITES.

I don’t know why you think referencing veterinarians’ offices is sarcasm. Several states have passed laws requiring abortion facilities to be subject to regular sanitary inspections and meet the standards of veterinarians’ surgeries, but courts have overruled the laws saying they would unreasonably limit “access.”

So if you were going to have an abortion, you’d probably be safer if you could get your vet to do it for a little extra cash.

It might have been closing time for the abortion clinic (ambulance came around 5:30pm), and this patient may have prevented from closing.

That might be a truly sad reason that the ambulance was called -- closing time, and need to get rid of our patients.

I would agree. And I have made the comment in the past that dogs and cats probably get more sanitary treatment than patients at abortion clinics.

Abortion clinics generally get nurses who can't get jobs elsewhere and doctors who can't practice medicine except at abortion clinics (and often they have problems with their medical records).

You just can't get good medical people to kill babies...

From the CBS article:

<<<<<<
In a written statement this past Saturday, Planned Parenthood of Illinois chief executive officer Carole Brite said “We were shocked and saddened upon learning of a tragic development at a nearby hospital. Our hearts go out to the loved ones of this patient.

“While legal abortion services in the United States have a very high safety record, a tragedy such as this is devastating to loved ones and we offer our deepest sympathies. Planned Parenthood of Illinois cares deeply about the health and safety of each and every patient. We do not publicly discuss private patient matters and we follow HIPAA laws that forbid the disclosure of patient information.”
<<<<<

A tragic development at a nearby hospital? An incomplete abortion and a perforated uterus, and yet they act as if they had nothing to do with the “development” at the nearby hospital.

Jerkwads. The only decent thing they could have said is that they would be conducting a thorough investigation to find out who was responsible and to ensure that this never happens again. But they didn’t say that.
