Colorado judge bars school from releasing James Holmes documents

............On Monday, the judge issued a gag order barring the defense team, the prosecution team and law-enforcement agencies involved in the case from speaking to the media.

On Wednesday, the judge reaffirmed his original order after several media outlets, lead by Fox News.com and the Denver Post, reported that Holmes had sent a notebook to a psychiatrist at the University of Colorado Denver, Anschutz campus. The notebook reportedly contained details of the planning for the shooting rampage, according to unnamed law enforcement sources quoted by the media. That could be important for the prosecution in showing that the suspect acted with deliberation and calculation.

Sylvester on Monday also signed an order barring the university, where Holmes was a former graduate student in the neuroscience program, from releasing any records about the defendant. Several news organizations, including the Los Angeles Times and the Associated Press, have filed requests for the records, which could give some insight into how Holmes, described by friends and teachers in Southern California as a brilliant science student, may have changed under the pressure of a new environment and scholastic program.

........What might be slightly unusual in this case is how soon the curtain has begun to be lowered, especially when it comes to the order on the school records.

Mark Caramanica, freedom of information director at the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, told the Associated Press that the order was “highly unorthodox.” He said it was unusual that a public institution would consult with an outside entity instead of just following the law and answering the request.

“It seems very premature for a court to get involved and make such a sweeping order,” Caramanica said. “It seems like a very broad and overly aggressive approach.”

I can’t help but compare this to the Zimmerman/Martin case in Florida. The way these two incidents are being handled shows a stark contrast between them.

There are many issues here, one being the giant overreach of the judge, making every other law subservient to his dictates in handling this case.

Another issue is what exactly other than interesting information would these media-sought records show?

From the article, apparently they want to compare and contrast what he was like back home and in previous school settings with what he became in CO under a more grueling academic program, and they want to possibly blame the changed setting for his drastic change.

So far, I’m not seeing it that way. Sure he was under more pressure, but this is pressure he placed on himself. From what I’ve read, he was obsessed with academic achievement beyond and almost to the exclusion of everything else.

When he took the oral exam required for continuing in the CO program, apparently it did not go well, and from that moment he planned to murder people in a mass setting in cold blood as his reaction.

Somebody tell me...what’s going on with a person who pushes himself beyond reason and has no other life to fall back on when that push fails, then decides the answer is to murder innocent people going to a movie???

They say his main weapon jammed and many more would have died and been maimed had it not. We’re talking about a massacre and maiming innocent movie goers on a unprecedented, unimaginable scale. The guy in Norway who went on a murderous rampage at a youth camp is the one thing coming to mind even remotely similar.

That guy had a “cause” you could call social or political to blame for his actions.

This guy had a failed oral exam in an academic program.

So a bunch of people had to die and be brain damaged and incapacitated for life.

Robert Holmes (the father) is tied to the LIBOR scandal. That could be a reason for the gag order. This is not what it appears.

Prove it.

Prove that the judge is issuing orders to keep documents pertaining to a trial sealed in order to protect the father being tied to a scandal.

Use common sense. In your mind, remove the father from your thoughts. Imagine the situation being everything that it is, only there’s no father involved in a scandal, as you say. I don’t know about that, but it’s irrelevant.

The judge would, or would not, issue the gag order anyway??

Common sense says you’re mixing apples and oranges when you try to fix blame on a father’s scandal for the judge issuing orders pertaining to information about James that pertains to his upcoming murder trial.

More and more I understand the title of that book a few years back, “The Death of Common Sense”.

The Left will treat Holmes with muted and biased coverage, just like they did John Walker Lindh, the American Taliban and others who have committed violence against Americans (Major Nidal Hasan - Ft Hood shooter, Seung-Hui Cho - Va Tech shooter, William Ayers - Obama supporter and Weather Underground bomber). Close examination would expose associations, ignored warning signs and NO involvement with conservative politics.

The fathers involvement, according to reports, is that of exposing the LIBOR scandal (actually naming names). I merely suggested that that could be a reason for the gag order. I have no way of knowing for sure. Don’t pick a fight where there is none.

The effort to make this about gun control is pathetic.

Anything, anything to focus attention away from the true problem, which was something terribly warped and twisted about this individual.

And to harm second amendment rights at the same time.

Notice with the left it is always about the Collective. They don’t want individual responsibility.

Warped and twisted James Holmes did this. But but but, they say the differing programs and school settings changed him, and we need this info so we can show how he changed from one setting to the other.

Balderdash. He grew up exclusively fixated on a single thing. He drove the process, the process did not drive him. Then when the goal proved unrealistic, he decided a bunch of innocents had to die.

Then there’s the judge, who has become a dictator over other people and other laws instead of subjugating himself to the system in place, imperfect as it is.

As of last night, there is NO information backing this up except a report out of Russia.

That is where the info generated and everyone has run with it.

The conspiracy sites are going wild with talk of Promis/Inslaw.

Most have never heard of it.

No one will ever know the truth on it.

But enough is available to know something went on there with the Government.

Holmes father is very influential in banking circles.

A lot of things don’t add up but you have to be cautious with this.

A report out of Russia doesn’t make it so.

If he had been about to testify I am sure it is scrubbed by now.

The reports that Aurora movie theater gunman James E. Holmes was a former member of the “Black Bloc” faction of the Occupy movement have caused considerable debate. Yet the most strident denials of this reportage seem to come almost entirely from the political left. More objective sources as well as blogs and web sites on the right seem to assert Holmes was a member of the group.

The “Black Bloc” faction of Occupy has targeted law enforcement in other instances, and three members of the group are facing charges of attempting to kill cops in Chicago. It has become clear the “booby-trapping” of his apartment with trip wires and bombs was intended to kill the most likely next persons to enter that apartment, namely law enforcement. Aurora, Colorado police have state they are angry at knowing they were targeted in this way by the alleged movie theater shooter.

The web site GodLikeProductions.com has done an analysis of the commonly seen picture of Holmes along with two others that are allegedly him also, one from the dating site profile that is believed to have been his that had the line about visiting him in prison soon, and another of a mug shot of an Occupy New York member arrested in October of 2011.

Private Investigator Bill Warren reported on his blog the connection between Holmes and the Occupy movement, and his web site is still reporting that information as a result of his investigation of the issue. As some of the left seem to more stridently deny the connection, it appears more evidence is reported showing that Holmes might well be a member of the Occupy movement or a former member of the group.

JULY 19th, 2012 MOVIE REVIEW:

“The Dark Knight Rises,” the third and final installment in director Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, pushes the ideological envelope even further than before. It’s impossible not to feel Nolan’s disgust at Occupy Wall Street a movement the film paints as both incoherent and violent courtesy of a class warfare villain armed with nuclear weaponry.

“The Dark Knight Rises” never mentions the 99 percent or other overt Occupy Wall Street slogans. But Nolan clearly summons the spirit of the ragtag movement with a propensity for violence. Bane’s henchmen literally attack Wall Street, savagely beat the rich and promise the good people of Gotham that “tomorrow, you claim what is rightfully yours.”
