'What a car crash... worse than Sarah Palin': British politicians' fury at Romney's..
UK Daily Mail ^ | July 27, 2012 | Toby Harnden and Thomas Duarte

Top political figures in Britain have been queuing up to criticise Mitt Romney after he kicked off his first foreign tour by publicly questioning whether London would be able to run the Olympics smoothly. The most high-profile humiliation came when thousands of Brits jeered him after London's Mayor Boris Johnson mocked him at a concert to mark the end of the Olympic Torch relay. However, behind the scenes officials were even more scathing about the Republican presidential hopeful, describing his visit as a 'car crash' and comparing him unfavourably to Sarah Palin. Another official who met with the former Governor of Massachusetts said he was 'apparently devoid of charm, warmth, humour or sincerity'.

What an overreaction. You see what happens when you let the left demonize one of our own. If it worked once it will work again. Although I'd love to see Willard withdraw and Sarah Palin take over. Heads would explode!!!

Thin skinned euro whiners that hate anything not socialist. We should be applauding him for saying no thanks to the idea of going the way of Europe.

Good on him for stepping on some toes.

The symbolism that means something is that he would return the Churchill bust.

They hate Palin. End of story.

I despise pandering

You disagree that diplomacy is mot important and it's pandering?

A good diplomat is one who can get others to do as he wishes WITHOUT pandering.

Geez!

I could not care less what people in the UK or Europe think of Romney. They all love Obama, after all. Perhaps after we fire him in November he can move there permanently.

Heaven forbid there is a terrorist incident at this year’s Olympics. If it happens, and if it goes badly, Romney will seem like a very wise man.

More likely the Dem-edia will say that it was Romney's Fault™.

They didn't force Romney to go now did they?

Obviously Romney cares or he'd be here talking to those who DO vote for US President.

> The Brits love Obama

0bama is the son of a British subject, as Kenya was under British dominion when 0bama’s father was born.

0bama himself may be considered a British subject, ergo the allegiance due to the satisfaction of having a Brit running the unruly Murican colonies again.

And on top of that, 0bama’s positions on “Palestinians”, Moslems and Jews is virtually congruent with that of England.

Ehhh.....liberals in England support the liberal candidate here. That’s one of the problems with liberals.....they’re never content to just screw things up where they are......they want to screw things up world-wide.

UK Media whorenalists are even more overtly partisan Obama cheerleaders than the USA media

Don’t pay any attention to this. They would have found SOMETHING negative to say no matter what he said or did.

How can they possibly blame Romney if something happens? Romney never said the Brits couldn’t handle the Olympics all he did was say he ‘Wasn’t sure” and he had plenty of evidence to support his statement. He made an impolitic statement but it is hardly an earth shattering issue and will not sway a single voter in either direction.

The Brits have already committed a MAJOR GAFFE in the preliminary soccer rounds even before the opening ceremonies.

The North Korean soccer team was introduced while the jumbo screen displayed their pictures along side the South Korean flag!

So, tell us again what a “car wreck” Sarah Palin is, eh Brits?

Maybe the British tabloids should be reminded one of the first things Obummer did upon ascending to the WH was send a bust of Winston Churchill (a gift from the British) back to Britain ... certainly a classless, clueless act on the part of the ‘anointed one’.

My impression is that the Brits have always hated Churchill for being right about Hitler. Churchill's undiluted pugnaciousness is much more popular stateside than in the UK. The only reason Churchill got to become PM was because he was viewed as someone with the necessary experience to get the job done, after Chamberlain set the country on a course for war by guaranteeing Poland's sovereignty and had his bluff called by Hitler's destruction of the Polish army. As soon as the war was won, the British electorate turfed Churchill.

Well. The first even (Archery) has gotten off to a good start.

London 2012 Olympics: hundreds of fans turned away from archery after turning up without tickets

London 2012 suffered another setback this morning when spectators were turned away from Lord’s after arriving to watch the archery competition.

Billed as the first London-based event of these Olympics, the ranking round is traditionally held on the day of the opening ceremony and is used to seed male and female archers for the knockout rounds, which begin tomorrow. The event was listed as ‘unticketed’, meaning that it was not open to the public.

However, by the time the competition began at 9am, dozens of spectators had arrived at the cricket ground in north-west London in the hope of entry. The confusion appears to have sprung from a lack of clarity in pre-event literature, as well as wrong information distributed by a number of websites not affiliated to the Olympics.

There is nothing Romney could have done or said that this Daily UK rag would have praised- NOTHING

If he walked on water they would have shouted “Romney Can’t Swim~!”

He's there to impress upon American voters that unlike Obama, he does not hold this nation's Anglo Saxon heritage in contempt. The optics are excellent from this side of the Atlantic. I think it's great that the Brits are whaling on him. It's Redcoats vs Minutemen all over again.

Don’t really think British politicians have much room to criticize anyone these days...and besides, he said wanted Churchills bust. That’s what really tweaks those freaking pansies.

Since he ran a smooth Olympics, perhaps they should listen to what he says.
