Anti-Abortion Group Comes to Town to Take on Stericycle

GRAHAM — An anti-abortion group made a return trip to Alamance County this week to protest against a medical waste disposal company.

On Tuesday, members of the Campaign to Stop Stericycle protested on the steps of the Historic Courthouse in Graham against Illinois-based Stericycle, a medical-waste disposal company with a location near Haw River. The Campaign to Stop Stericycle alleges that the company disposes of fetuses that are the product of abortions.

The protestors said they have collected evidence that Stericycle contracts to dispose of medical waste for abortion clinics, including more than 600 Planned Parenthood locations across the U.S. The group is from Philadelphia and travels to places in the United States that have a Stericycle location nearby.

. . .

“Our main goal is to help the people of Haw River to become aware of the evils of Stericycle,” Marcavage said. “Stericycle takes aborted baby fetuses that are in the trash and they incinerate the voiceless, precious, innocent children into ashes.”

Marcavage also said that the people of Haw River do not have a clue about what is really coming out of the smokestacks at Stericycle.

Do you think the neighbors have a right to know what is really coming out of the smokestacks at Stericycle?

Did they get that from Solyent Green or something?

The moral decay in this country is repugnant. It is like soiling our own beds. Our respect for life has dwindled to near nothing.

I’m not sure where the name came from, but I think it would be creepy to live near this plant. It’s an ugly, ugly “business” for sure.

And is already in the White House.

I want to believe that public opinion is continuing to move in favor of life, but we still have much ground to cover.

We need to squarely face what we as a people have been permitting.

In his book, When A Nation Forgets God, Dr. Erwin Lutzer, the pastor of Moody Church for 30 years, shared an eyewitness account of how some church members reacted to the Nazism of their times:

“I lived in Germany during the Nazi Holocaust. I considered myself a Christian. We heard stories of what was happening to Jews, but we tried to distance ourselves from it because what could we do to stop it.

A railroad track ran behind our small church and each Sunday morning we could hear the whistle in the distance, and then the wheels coming over the tracks.

We became disturbed when we heard the cries coming from the train as it passed by. We realized that it was carrying Jews like cattle in the cars. Week after week the whistle would blow. We dreaded to hear the sound of those wheels because we knew that we would hear the cries of the Jews in route to a death camp.

Their screams tormented us. We knew the time the train was coming, and when we heard the whistle blow, we began singing hymns. By the time the train came past our church, we were singing at the top of our voices. If we heard the screams, we sang more loudly and soon we heard them no more.”

And then the eyewitness shared with Pastor Lutzer, “ Although years have passed, I still hear the train whistle in my sleep. God forgive me, forgive all of us who called ourselves Christians and yet did nothing to intervene.”

Thanks for sharing that. It's too painful for words to adequately describe.

When you drive to Stericycle you go a little distance to Bain, and when you get to Bain you turn left at Romney.

And so it goes.

Yes, but it’s not something that he brags about much anymore. It’s an ugly way to make a living.

So sad that this can occur in a nation dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal, endowed by their Creator with the unalienable right to live, with a Constitution whose supreme stated purpose is to “secure the Blessings of Liberty to Posterity,” and which explicitly and imperatively forbids the killing of any innocent person, all of which every officer of government, at every level, in every branch, swears to God to support and defend.

That is clearly their duty, Tom.

Odd group.

The relevant issue is that babies are being killed. Focusing outrage on how their bodies are disposed of rather than the fact of their killing seems a little misplaced.

Disposal by incineration is in essence no different than cremation.

Would I want to be the person who has to pick up the "medical waste" from the local Planned Parenthood?

Nope. But it has to be disposed of in some way, and given the refusal of the institution and government to authorize appropriate burials or cremations, I fail to see why Stericycle being involved is so terrible.

Stericycle disposes of medical waste. It’s not like it’s an organization set up to dispose of fetal corpses. I would be very surprised if abortion clinics make up as much as 0.1% of their business.

Okay, but my original question remains: “Do you think the neighbors have a right to know what is really coming out of the smokestacks at Stericycle?”

From the article: “Local and corporate Stericycle representatives refused comment on the allegations after calls from the Times-News this week. The company makes no statements about the allegations on its website.”

I think the neighbors deserve to know what is coming out of Stericycle’s smokestacks.

No one needs to make a living this way.

Make the abortionists dispose of their own waste ~ but according to law.

Just do it.

No sense for normal human beings to be burdened with their gore!
