Report: Chick-fil-A's public relations director dead of heart attack
The Daily Caller ^ | July 27, 2012 | Alex Pappas

Posted on 07/27/2012 12:02:56 PM PDT by Ranald S. MacKenzie

The head of public relations at Chick-fil-A died Friday morning of an apparent heart attack, according to a local news report.

WBRL News 3 in Georgia identified the employee as Donald A. Perry, the company’s vice president of Corporate Public Relations.

His death comes as Chick-fil-A finds itself embroiled in a public relations fiasco with the gay community and supporters of same-sex marriage protesting the company because of statements made by company president Dan Cathy.

Perry joined Chic-fil-A in 1983, according to information posted on the website of Hillcrest Church of Christ. He became an elder of the church in 1997.

The church biography said Perry “enjoys leading his church fellowship cell group, as well as working to help maintain harmony in the congregation.”

“One of the challenges sometimes is helping to reconcile differing views among members,” Perry said, according to the church, “but we work to keep unity of the faith.”

The Daily Caller will update with more details as they become available.

Prayers up. And I just ate Chick-Fil-A for the first time today.

I don't eat fast food, but I made an exception today and will for National Support Chick-Fil-A Day 01 August 2012.

It seems he worked there for almost thirty years. I've never eaten any of their food and so I don't know if their food is healthy, but I've often wondered what health risks might accompany working/eating at a fast food establishment over a period of many years. The last fast food I had was a Big Mac about eight years ago. Fast food is convenient, delicious and deadly.

Mormons are quite schizophrenic about the clean living thing. You have charm-offensive people like the Osmonds on one side, and then the bishop Mitt Romney when he served in Massachusetts on the other... if anyone you’d think would know better it would be Mitt and yet Salt Lake City apparently has not called him to heel on the gay marriage thing which they formally oppose. Oh to be a fly on the wall of the Mormon temples where those high muckety mucks meet and discuss such things.

I hold the gay community responsible - and Chicago democrats ... and liberal elites ... and the MSM that always sides with the powerful against the rest of us...

So what kind of food is Tau, which is supposedly better for you than the mainstream fast-food fare?

One could nit pick about the vices of this food. Truth be told, even at most fast food franchises it’s possible to pick things that can comprise a sane diet. But who lives day to day on that stuff, unless down and out as a beggar?

The timing is suspicious.

Of course. But when you look at the statistics it is not that unusual.

Sometimes a banana is just a banana.

In this case, we have questionable history and ethics which just adds to the 'timing' issue.

One thing for sure, It is very likely that whether he was killed, or it was just 'his time', we will never know the truth.

Breitbart has been dead for... how long?... and still don't know for sure what happened.

JFK has been dead for over 40 years, and I doubt more than a handful of people know exactly what happened.

Bump your post! I use the words homosexual and lesbian but sodomite is a great word.

I’m so sad about this man’s stressful death.

May God hold him dear and provide comfort for his family and everyone who knew and loved him.

Yes, that is possible, but I think if I had begun working on a daily basis in a fast food place, perhaps beginning my career at the counter, later in the kitchen, assistant manager, manager, maybe regional manager, etc., there would be too many temptations for me not to suffer from some adverse consequences. Fast food does taste good and it's easy.

Tau is just a protein.

They're not "gay," they're "queer," as in "odd."

Yeah.... 'angry gay' seems self-contradictory while 'angry queer' is much more reasonable, and makes better literary sense. Besides, most homos are queer. The 'gay' ones are really queer.

He was killed by a Commie. The Left can't face up to that fact, that's why all of the conspiracy theories.

Adults are adults, though and are responsible without nannying to make sane choices. A big enough deal has been made about calories, fat, and nutrition that there is no excuse not to know to seek not to live on hamburgers and milkshakes alone. Even yet, beside the meager fare of more sickly ancestral times, a hamburger diet would be a comparative godsend.

I’m sure it’s possible to make less-fat, less-sugar versions of most fast food items. Baked rather than fried, and that kind of thing. Nobody’s clamoring for them or they would be offered.

“Food from a restaurant at a funeral is almost unheard of and would get you talked about. ;)”

Here in MA a lot of us are invited to restaurants after the funeral. This was not done in the “good old days”.

. . .as Chick-fil-A finds itself embroiled in a public relations fiasco with the gay community and supporters of same-sex marriage protesting the company because of statements made by company president Dan Cathy.

I doubt they consider it a "public relations fiasco". Mr. Cathy knew there would be a backlash for stating his personal views. He's always been very vocally Christian and is used to taking flack for that from various special interest groups.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if some of the homosexual activists dance on this guy's grave. In fact, it would be very typical of liberal behavior.

You’re right, it’s market driven. And, I’m not above being a long term investor in a very large fast food operation. “I’m lovin’ it.”

We do the best we can, we do. ;-)
