Exclusive: Matt Barber on 'gay' activists: 'They've picked a fight they cannot win'
WND Commentary ^ | July 28 2012 | Matt Barber

Posted on 07/28/2012 9:22:39 AM PDT by scottjewell

... The Jim Henson Company ...has severed promotional ties with Chick-fil-A – . . .

Their crime? Failure to obey the nauseating, mind-numbing dictates of political correctness.

Dan Cathy . . . recently made a few innocuous public comments in support of legitimate marriage – sentiments the vast majority of morals-minded Americans happen to agree with...

That’s the thing... about political correctness. It exists in the realm of fantasy...

They float the propagandist idiom “marriage equality” – choosing all the while to ignore objective “marriage reality.”

So-called “same-sex marriage”? A counterfeit... “Gay marriage” is no more real marriage then a rotten apple is an orange.

It’s unavoidable. Marriage is, by definition, the joining of two complementary opposites – two “others.”

“Gay marriage” is mock marriage. It’s fantasy – a dead end. Even a child knows this intuitively and, in their heart-of-hearts, lefties and “gay” activists know it, too. That’s why they respond so violently when people snicker at it or, as in the case of Dan Cathy, even respectfully acknowledge that it’s not grounded in reality...

The wonderful thing about liberals is that they almost universally overplay their hand. They respond to “inconvenient truths” with hysterical, reactionary overreach. There’s been a magnificent backlash from their attacks on Chick-fil-A. They’ve picked a fight they cannot win.. .

Fair enough. I just lost interest in Wal Mart when they signed on in support of Obamacare. It’s hard to find a major corporation which isn’t objectionable these days (Koch Brothers and Exxon-Mobil may be about it).

There are many more who have not surrendered, seems you have.

The “culture” they are leading in is the one they defined, the one catering to school kids and those with school kid mentality.

In one aspect you are right, they won the government. Not the same as winning the hearts of this citizenry.

We allowed the liberals to take over because America has always been a pushover to give everyone the “benefit of the doubt”. Just like Germany and Japan, once this sleeping giant is waked up just in the nick of time, it always fights back. We are about to reach that point.

I printed out all the Chick-Fil-A locations in my multi-state driving territory yesterday; and also made it a point to go to Chick-Fil-A for dinner. Cars in the drive-thru lane went around the side of the building, maybe 15 patiently waiting, and the inside was packed, too. And I'm in a blue state that always elects Democrats.

In every state where gay marriage has been put on the ballot, it is always defeated by 2-to-1. This is, indeed, a fight they can't win, because they are outnumbered and consumers want their "chicken sandwich - hold the hissy fit." But the tantrums do seem to be good for business.

Sad thing is most business owners are not liberal. The majority of small business in this country are owned by the fiscally conservative and more socially conservative in most ways. Liberals cannot continue existence without these conservatives. In those cities that begin to discriminate because of personal social or political reasons will die because the remaining welfare recipients will burn them to the ground when they are denied their freebies.

Yes, I recall that story well.

All that you are saying here is becoming more believable by the minute.

I think they bit off more than they could chew with this Chick-Fil-A fiasco. But there’s no putting the genie back in the bottle this time.

This is not to say Target is anti-gay (or pro-gay), but I think they try to be neutral.

About ten or twelve years ago, Target threw the Salvation Army Christmas bell ringers off their properties in response to pressure from gay activists who objected to the Salvation Army's pledge for moral straightness in its permanent employees (which most of the bell ringers are not).

I emailed them that I would no longer shop at Target, listing all the Targets I had bought from with my credit card (I travel a lot). Not only did I make good on my promise; but their next quarter earnings were dismal; so lots of other people boycotted, too. The same thing has recently happened to J.C. Penney's for trying to "espouse" gay marriage at a traditionally family-oriented store. They lost money and their top executive lost his job.

Many stores are also learning their lesson about the "Happy Holidays" or "Holiday Trees" crapola. People who want Christmas trees do not want the Christ out of Christmas, and vote with their feet. That's what free markets are supposed to do.

Maybe your view is correct and I am evaluating society wrongly, but I fear not. Either way we fight to the last man (or woman)!
Temporal hope for a better future, for victory is not necessarily for this warrior. we fight because we can not live in this time without being forced to arms. we fight because at stake is justice, righteousness, goodness, beauty. and on the side of these we want to be numbered by He who will finally make all things just and right and good and beautiful.

True, but things can reverse if the other side stops capitulating and being passive and complacent.

Right you are; and this one is so easy! Just make a little more effort to go buy some nice chicken sandwiches, or order a gift card online for family who live near a C-F-A. Painless and delicious.

They also have great salads, including chicken salad, whole wheat bread if you want it, fruit salads, nice desserts, those fabulous waffle fries and milkshakes with whipped cream. They are promoting peach shakes now in the summer.

Also, they sell excellent iced sweet tea or unsweetened iced tea either in beverage cups or in gallon jugs -- why buy Arizona or Turkey Hill when you can support the institution of natural marriage?

This is not to say Target is anti-gay (or pro-gay),”

They now have special recognition in their bridal registry for same sex couples. This is in addition to the special tee shirt they were selling honoring the gay community.

They certainly can do what they wish as a business, but we won’t shop there any more.

The corporate world seems to be getting just as bad as Hollywood in terms of projecting abject contempt for my values. So, I guess I’ll be treating them the same way I do Hollywood, by avoiding spending any money with them, unless I’m convinced they aren’t in league with the leftist degenerates that continue to turn the country into a socialist, morally repugnant sewer.

The pleasant anomalies, like Chick-Fil-A, will get my complete and vigorous support. In fact, I’ve never been to a Chick-Fil-A, but I’m going to one this afternoon. And I plan to join in on the “buy-cott” slated for Wednesday.

I told Hubby they should just say....okay you win, we are leaving

Can't do that. C-F-As are independant Owner/Operator. There are families there running a lot of those places.

"The wonderful thing about liberals is that they almost universally overplay their hand.

Yep, and that goes with the fact that liberals are aggressive and conservatives are defensive. Playing offense all the time does incur the risk of overshooting.

The liberals have gotten away with it because they have a shield that's close to unbeatable. It's always "I The Victim," or "I Fight For The Victim," which is profoundly disarming. Typically, it puts the other side on the defensive: that explains why conservatives are almost condemned to play defense. A loophole comes with prosperity. Thankfully for conservatives, liberal economics doesn't work; thus, conservatives get the chance to go on the offensive when it comes to national prosperity.

Liberals have another weak point that condemns them to play defense on another issue: American military strength. Both of these "holes" were worked masterfully by Ronald Reagan. He went on the offensive with both prosperity and military strength, while having the gift of doing both in an easygoing manner. One of the profoundly important secrets to his success is his knack for going on the offensive in a non-threatening manner. (In this respect, he was the opposite of Barry Goldwater.) As a result of his amiability, liberals didn't know what to make of him. The best they could come up with was "amiable dunce" or "manipulated puppet."

Another secret to his success was the conviction that liberals are at heart elitist. He didn't say it all that much; instead, he used it in his inimitable amiable manner. That further pushed liberals off-balance: they found out that positions they had denigrated as "extreme" were in fact popular. They were increasibly out of touch and Reagan knew it well. He knew it so well, he didn't have to make a big deal of it: he quietly and amiably, but firmly, used it.

With the above in mind, allow me to present a different slant on the liberals going "Gaga" over homosexual marriage. Apart from the vanity-tickling association with the world of fashion, glamour and style, the reason they're pushing an issue important for only 2% of the population is...they're running out of victims. Their kind of victims, that is.

Allow me to repeat: they are running out of victims. The liberals' "victim politics" is reaching the point of diminishing returns. All-too-many of their traditional "victim" bases actually have it pretty good. (Think SEIU.) Their moralizing is becoming easier to debunk empirically.

In other words: as time goes on, they're living more and more on a bluff. They rely more and more on the Supreme Court. In everyday life, they're more and more openly putting down conservatives. Just look at the comments sections in Yahoo! News and similar places and you'll see loads of it.

However annoying, those liberals are playing into conservative hands. They've fatally adulterated their I-The-Victim strategy. Moralization works very well - but combining moralization with a superiority complex is a fatal mistake. Why?

Because it blinds the liberals to a growing class of real victims, in large part of their own policies. Those victims, they despise. In the long run, that disdain of theirs is going to ruin them politically.

All it would take is a conservative champion to proudly and unapologetically stand up for the Obama-called "bitter clingers" - as victims - and the field will get tilted the other way. Sure, it'll stir up a huge cat-fight at first...but the conservative man or woman who perseveres in this course will end up assuring that conservatives can play offense all round.

I realize that I'm being visionary here, and I'm probably being impractical because there doesn't seem to be any conservative champion with Reagan's necessary amiability. Call it a think-piece.

Excellent analysis and critique. I do hope the field indeed gets tilted the other way, and the sooner the better.

I will do whatever I see is necessary to save our beloved America. And I like you will do so reluctantly as any conflicts will not improve our lot without a first drop into the primitiveness of the 3rd World.

Look back at America's history, we have been “up against the wall” many times, and many of those times make our current situation like a ride in the poop-truck rather than the Apocalypse. Each of America's trials has been overcome.

Thanks for posting the link to that video. I wish I could say it surprises me, but their hypocrisy seems to be par for the course. They shout at the man not to judge, and then they stand their judging him and swearing at him. What can you expect from a society where a woman would be proud to wear a T shirt calling herself a slut?

The left has to take every opportunity that presents itself to get homosexuality in our face. One would think it is raining queers.

Now THAT is funny right there.
