My favorite quote from the article:
"If you look at the clientele at tobacco shops, they're not exactly the best people. They're buying drugs for crying out loud," Ray said, referring to shops that have "thumbed their noses" at the state's ban on selling spice.
I suppose that the smoke shops were just asking for government intrusion when they break the law constantly. I wish they would have just complied and slipped back into the cultural shadows. I still don't think that the conservatives of this state understand the small government portion of being a conservative.

There'll be even more of this with Romney. Then there's that problem with Coca Cola, tea and coffee.
No idea how those people stay awake.

Local towns should be able to make their own zoning laws.
Porn used to be outlawed in decent communites until the federal courts took the power away from the people.

When hookahs are outlawed, only outlaws will have hookahs.

Or, more likely, their town simply has a 'bad clientele' to start with. The cigar shop near my house is pretty nice and doesn't seem o have any issues that they describe here.

If you look at the clientele at tobacco shops, they're not exactly the best people. Indeed! In November, 2008, a group of conservatives met for a cigar party at a tobacco shop in Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif. The man who organized the group now serves on the city council.

These people are f'ing morons.
No difference between this and the Chick-fil-A flap: trying to shove your own morals and opinions down the throats of others.
The Kenyan must go.

Their approach is wrong. When you have a dozen different people spit-balling how to exclude a business, and saying so, it almost guarantees that the courts will find those actions to be unlawful. It is called “telegraphing” your intentions.
Instead, being careful not to break any public meetings laws, you do your planning quietly and speak with one voice, through a single spokesman, using some technique that has been proven to work elsewhere.
Judges are often amenable to such exclusions, as long as they are not blatant and are presented in an orderly fashion.
