Scalia on Obama: 'What can he do to me?'
By KENNETH P. VOGEL | 7/29/12 10:29 AM EDT
Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia on Sunday said he did not view it as a threat when President Barack Obama in April predicted his signature healthcare overhaul will be upheld because it should be upheld and that anything less would constitute judicial activism by the high court.
Scalia conceded in an appearance on "Fox News Sunday" that Obamas forceful comments on a pending Supreme Court case were unusual, but as I say I dont criticize the president publicly. And he normally doesnt criticize me.
But when host Chris Wallace pressed, asking whether Scalia, who in June sided with a minority seeking to overturn the law, felt any pressure as a result of that to vote a certain way, Scalia laughed.
No. What can he do to me? Or to any of us? the justice responded. We have life tenure. And we have it precisely so that we will not be influenced by politics, by threats from anybody.
Scalia did, however, express disapproval of Obamas criticisms of the Supreme Courts Citizens United decision during his 2010 State of the Union speech.

Obama is not the problem. It’s the people who profit from his culture of corruption. Michelle Malkin’s cousin is still missing.
Personally, I wouldn’t ask that question when dealing with Chicago thugs.
What can Obama do to me??
I dunno, what did he do to Roberts??
Scalia must be immune to evil, in it’s many forms. That or he’s just plain stupid.
Whaaat?
Message delivered by horses head in the bed.
Roberts got it.
No kidding. Maybe Scalia could ask Andrew Breitbart, if he was still alive.
What are they going to do about vetting that bastard?
Absolutely nothing.
Worthless Supremes, all.

Yeah....unless he’s part of it all.
[I’ve taken cynicism to an art form]
[[That or hes just plain stupid.]]
Which makes ya wonder if he’s infact that stupid, and he’s on the ‘supreme court’- then this country is in worse shape than we imagined (We have seen that we’re in really bad shape with the refusal by roberts to rule objectively- and with some on the right calling robert’s decision ‘brilliant’? Really? blowing a massive gaping hole in our consitution and allowing our governemnt to intrude into our lives like never before and tro FINE us for simply existing if we choose not to purchase the Mafia’s (oops, I mean government’s) ‘insurance plan’ is ‘brilliant’? The Mafia was hutned down for forcing people to buy their insurance agaisnt their will- but apparently roberts thinks it’s legal for our government to do the exact same thing
I saw the interview on Fox News Sunday. I hope he stays on the Court — God willing — for many more years.
‘What can he do to me?’
Make you a martyr.
That's not the job of the Supreme Court; that's the job of US, the voters. One of the risks of our Representative Republic is that sometimes voters can be manipulated, as many were in 2008. They wanted change, and they got it, but it was not the change that many actually wanted. I believe we'll have another change in November, and I hope this one will be better for the United States than the last one.
He went wobbly on the Second Amendment today with abc news.

I believe if there is a question of a Presidential candidate’s Constitutional eligibility which (s)he will not come clean on, it is the duty of the Supreme Court to determine if that candidate is eligible for the office. That fits within the scope of the Supreme Court’s function to asssure that the Constitution is enforced. And I believe that it is more than IMHO.
