Seriously, though, everyone who's hooked up to natgas should have a standby generator for the "down" times and the rolling blackouts. My hope is that it will hit the libs the hardest.
Another “gift” we owe liberals for. What a horrible waste of money, both tax-payer and corporate, for no other reason than the pursuit of another liberal chimera, AGW.
And we’re eliminating other potential sources of hydro power by ripping out dams. I just read about another near Traverse city Michigan yesterday. The estimated cost of a modern generator retrofit is around $2 million and the cost of tearing the dam out is about the same. However the retrofit would actually produce power for years to come and tearing the dam out will forever remove it as a potential producer.
Things are gonna get real bad in coming years.

We can FIRE OBAMA FIRST!
Then, Romney can fire the necessary EPA staff, and overturn ALL orders to close power plants, and restart our exploration and recovery.
Cars w Obama stickers on them shouldn’t be allowed to fill up at gas stations.

Elections have consequences, BTTT
Thack, my biggest electrical expenditure by far is A/C.
Is there any potential on nat gas powered home A/C units?
Or maybe even crazier, what are the economics of at home nat gas powered electrical generation?
Even with several Dems voting for it, that Senate resolution stopping Obama went to defeat thanks to Snowe, Collins, Ayott, Alexander and Brown voting with the rest of the Dems.....
Just as campers have natural gas refrigerators available, nat gas AC is available.
But if a huge amount of coal-fired power generation is shut down, do not expect natural gas to stay cheap, IMO.
True enough, the GOP were right there helping to impose the great lakes drilling ban too.
“Relative prices of natural gas and coal as sources of energy, which have moved in favor of natural gas with the boom in shale gas production” This is due to the regs that Obama placed on the indusrty right? I want to say something uneducated like FUBO but this is a situation that is self explanatory. Obama said about coal...
“So if somebody wants to build a coal-powered plant, they can; it’s just that it will bankrupt them because they’re going to be charged a huge sum for all that greenhouse gas that’s being emitted”
It all comes down to pipeline schedules and how fast we build pipes from where the new gas is being found to deliver to where it will be consumed.
The price will be influenced by that more than anything.
So folks know, I know he said this but it took me a minute to find it, it sure as hell wasn’t the first hit while searching Barack Obama on coal.........
Look into radiant barriers, attic fans, and evaporative cooling (depending on your climate). I have the radiant barrier sheathing and you can really tell that it is cooler in the house than outside. Plus, with a walkout basement, an attic fan and a sprinkler set up outside the "intake" through the basement windows, it has to get really hot to be unbearable.

Well Mr B, based on the map of closures, you just might get your wish, but the way I understand how the grid works, by switching magic my guess would be we are all going to suffer equally. You know, the “fairness doctrine”.
Of course, when I was about ten or twelve, I understood the fairness doctrine to be what it was, horse hockey. The world isn’t fair, and if you build your life on the premise, you are sure to be disappointed all your days. Not aimed at you Mr B.
This EPA insanity is called by one local power company, “the train wreck”. It is a list of dates related to all of the demands on power companies to comply with the insanity. Believe me they cannot afford not to comply unless the full faith and sovereignty of the state in which they reside is behind them.
I personally have not yet seen the states rising up in anger at this treatment of their citizens, but if the cold hits and the blackouts occur, or the heat wave is not cooled by air conditioning, maybe they will get with it.
Cars w Obama stickers on them shouldnt be allowed to fill up at gas stations.
Now there is a leading statement. Oh how I would love to add thereto.
We need to tag these “Obama Blackouts” when they start occurring.
