Newt Gingrich Defends Bachmann's Islam Attacks

In a six-page, 2,500-word Politico op-ed (with an attached three-page, 1,800-word appendix), Newt Gingrich makes it crystal clear that he is on the side of Michele Bachmann and her four fellow members of Congress who want an inquiry into whether the government is being infiltrated by Islamic extremists. (He refers to the group as "the National Security Five.") According to Gingrich, the quick and plentiful denouncements of Bachmann's theory are simply examples "of the fear our elites have about discussing and understanding radical Islamists," he writes. "You have to wonder why people would aggressively assert we shouldn’t ask about national security concerns."

"It’s as though our leaders have forgotten every lesson of the 1930s about fascism, Nazism, and communism and every lesson from 1945 to 1991 about communism," Gingrich writes, noting that "political correctness" has taken precedence over security and that the "elites" worry that "if Americans fully understood how serious radical Islamists are, they would demand a more confrontational strategy."

What is up with Romney? so far Palin has not been invited to speak at the convention; Newt not speaking. God only knows what is going on with Perry and Santorum. Romney is not uniting the party.
Also, as to Bachmann..after the bashing she gave Newt during the primaries at least he is man enough to defend her when she is right. As for Romney's comments on Jerusalem as the capital of Israel and etc. Romney is following Newt on that one.

I don't follow Romney news, but I think you're right that he has not invited Sarah Palin or Newt Gingrich to speak at his convention.

I remain praying for a miracle in Tampa and short of that, I remain steadfast in my voting decisions, which are not open to change.

He won his nomination without my vote so he can damn well win his election without my vote. The GOP is >this< close to losing me altogether. I'll be voting TEA Party conservative where ever I possibly can.

Just peeped at Drudge. I haven't visited the site in ages and read that Newt will not be invited to speak at the convention. Have also read that Palin has yet to be invited and of course Cheney's comments on Sarah.
Long live the Tea Party. God be with us dear Onyx. We are in serious trouble. I am still in political recuperation.

That is a powerful statement,in and of itself.

Strictly for clarification, One who wins a nomination without your vote will not get your vote for the general, or is it just his particluar nominee?

Nice balanced headline there. Bachmann hasn’t “attacked Islam,” she has expressed concern about MB influence in the current administration. But the Left prefers to frame it as an “attack on Islam,” hence the headlne.
