A clothing store in a trendy Chicago neighborhood is one of the latest victims of a so-called flash mob robbery — when a large group storms into a shop to collectively rip off a retailer.
About 20 people entered the Mildblend Supply Co. in Wicker Park on Saturday afternoon, together grabbing more than $3,000 worth of high-priced denim jeans, according to police.
“I’ve gotten somewhat immune to the shoplifting here with young people, but this one was certainly different,” store owner Luke Cho told NBC 5 Chicago Sunday.
Cho described the group as a teenage mob. Only four staff were in the store to oppose them, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
“They completely overwhelmed us,” Cho told NBC 5. “I went to lock the door and there were a dozen more waiting to come in.”

Well, at least the owner didn’t come out in support of traditional marriage. Chicago values are not under attack.
I love the way the articles come up on Free Republic. Larry Elder about guns and self defense and then flash robberies. Do you think if it was known that store owners had guns, these flash robberies would stop?
Haven’t seen much that would be an easier solution than what my wife proposed: doors that are easily closed and locked at the front, and a guard with at least two large and somewhat menancing dogs stationed at that point.
The sort of folks who tend to pull off these crimes tend to have a healthy respect for dogs. And the dogs don’t generally have much use for political correctness in who they intimidate.
Wait till it’s for food...then the thinnest veneer of civility that they showed here we come away and it will be nature, red in tooth and claw.
Its hard to believe that something like this could happen in a wonderful place like Chicago.

I have zero sympathy for these stores that cant fathom the idea of security with some bite.
Oh they will give you the once over if you return something without 6 forms of ID, but a bunch of Amish kids can just walk right in and have the run of the place? Idiots!
Store mgrs need to set up a procedure when this happens to lock the doors and dial 911.These scum bags would freak.
Installing ceiling nets that would drop when the looting begins may slow them down.

Last time I shopped at Ross Dress for Less I had to take something back and they asked for ID. Told them that was ridiculous when I had the store receipt and I would not be back. I haven’t.
From the headline you'd think they cleaned out the store. However, at the price they charge for "high-end" jeans (upwards of $250), that's about a dozen pairs. Doesn't make it right, but it's also not like they pulled a truck up to the back door and looted the place.
Let me guess... they were a “group of teens”.
There was an article yesterday about a blattack where the doors WERE locked, and the “teens” figured out how to unlock the doors and get out.

Watch the video ... There is indeed a blond white kid (tow head - tow was an old word for flax straw) who is carefully picking out the his haul, jumps up and down when he finds a pair that fits him, and takes it.
If we tolerate this behavior in one group, it’s not surprising that everybody in our freeloading society wants to get in on it.
