Have these 2 from my local TV station....
Texas Tribune calls Texas Railroad Commission Place 2 for Barry Smitherman, Commission Place 1 for Christi Craddick
Sure did. His ads were as dishonest as a typical dem ad. I didn’t know he had CIA roots either. That was a turn off for me just knowing how many globalist traitors we have now in the CIA.
I have not followed this closely enough. Why is this a huge upset for Cruz? I realize he’s Tea party backed, but in Texas I’d expect that to be a big plus. You’ve said this might be a bell weather for the presidential election in November. How so? I’m from La. and would expect a Tea party guy to win big here as well. Thanks.
Former state solicitor general Ted Cruz, a tea party-aligned conservative once regarded as a long-shot candidate, has won the Republican runoff in Texas, where he will be the GOP nominee for the U.S. Senate in the November election. The Associated Press has called the race for Cruz over Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst. Cruz will be a heavy favorite over Democratic nominee Paul Sadler, who also won a runoff on Tuesday.
Cruz, an emerging conservative star whose father emigrated to the United States from Cuba, has drawn comparisons to Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and has been lauded by national conservative political pundits and groups for over a year. His victory is a major blow to the Republican establishment in Texas, which lined up squarely behind Dewhurst. Its also a victory for the tea party and national conservatives who lined up behind Cruz even when a surprise win appeared unlikely.
Cruzs win is a remarkable political feat and arguably the Senate upset of the cycle.
[Snip]
While Dewhurst was extremely well-funded, a crucial national ally helped Cruz keep pace on the expensive Texas television airwaves. The anti-tax Club For Growth spent $5.5 million on independent expenditures to help the underdog pull off the upset. Despite their buy-in, Dewhurst and his allies still outspent Cruz and his allies on the air during the final week of the runoff campaign.
Texas Sen. John Cornyn, the chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, congratulated Cruz on his win and added that the candidate and his team ran a remarkable race and this is a well-deserved and well-earned victory.
Because of a problem getting our mail forwarded (because Mr. Prairie’s dad is real sick) we got our absentee ballot late....we filled it out and mailed it immediately, hoping that it would get there in time.
Looks like Ted carried it easily on his own, but we wanted to do our part....and we tried our best. On to November!
Now 59.3% of today's votes are for Cruz, per the SOS.
“It is an historic victory and a road map, as well.”
Please let us in on the secret. We seem to have a real scourge of gop duds here in Virginia. While we have some fair to middling conservatives like George Allen and a few great ones like The Cooch, it’s not a pretty picture.
You need to write for a Conservative News Station.(is there such a place?) Loved reading your post!!!
Cruz will continue to get my support as his words no doubt are turned to actions. He is the type of leader this nation needs right now and forever. He’ll have a tough battle as even his own party hacks will attempt to get to him, but as he said, he’s not susceptible to that.
I can’t wait to hear Levin’s show tomorrow! I bet he is going to be on fire broadcasting Cruz’ win. Insufficient results by the end of his show to even comment on it today, but I will not be surprised if Cruz is on his show Wednesday. In fact, will be a bit disappointed if he is not.
Now I’m doing the happy dance! Two conservative judges I picked are winning too. Yay! They think we’re too stupid to see the Dems in RINO clothing on the ballots.
Sarah is kicking butt on great a tonight.
How many of you had the privilege of hearing Ted Cruz’s dad speak? He spoke here in San Angelo last week. I hope he speaks out loudly before the November election, too ... and in support of other Tea Party candidates in addition to his son. Quite a man; quite a story!
And “Cruz” means “Cross” in Spanish!
Haven’t been to drudge since Bloody Thursday.
Texas just provided a road map.
First and most important, a credible candidate
Conservative Superpacs to Level the Money Playing Field.
Get behind that one credible candidate.
Bring in the Big Gun Endorsers like Palin, Demint
To Pump up the base.
I am not from Texas, but this is what I saw was the winning formula.
