Romney's Apology Tour (and embracing our allies)
The American Thinker ^ | August 1, 2012 | Pamela Geller

Mitt Romney's recent triumphal tour of Britain, Israel, and Poland struck me as a much-needed and most welcome apology tour for Barack Obama's abject abandonment and humiliation of our most loyal and trusted allies. Finally, here is an apology tour that Americans can get behind. It was a triumph. The enemedia says otherwise, of course.

Mitt Romney began the long overdue, overwhelming task of beginning to rebuild allied relationships with longtime friends who were abandoned and betrayed by a reckless, feckless, subversive president.

He was off message with his Olympics criticism, which gave the press a narrative for the whole trip. Mr. Know-It-All doesn’t get any points even if he’s ‘right’ when he’s supposed to be Mr. Diplomacy, showing his diplomatic contrast with Barry.

But this was my original post:

‘To: Cincinatus’ Wife

Well done in Poland and Israel, but not quite a victory in the UK.

You have a media that is always looking for a gaffe on the part of conservatives or the GOP. That’s SOP. His UK “gaffe” wasn’t a gaffe, but it was characterized as one.

Later, among those paying attention it’s been shown that Romney was right. London and GB weren’t ready for prime time. Romney’s Olympics was despite starting from a worse position. Point to Romney.

Your original post to me was:

“There was nothing good or positive about it.” You were referring to the entire trip. You know that Romney doesn’t get any “points” from the MSM anyway. He’s won them among those paying attention and comes home a stark contrast to Obama’s failed foreign policy.

The trip was a massive success. It accomplished what the campaign wanted.

CW: courtesy ping as you were mentioned in the previous post.

Thank you for the ping.

As you have noted, Romney understood that the 2012 London Olympics has had difficulties (if anyone is in a position to understand this, it would be Romney). It was only a “gaffe” to those predisposed to look for something to criticize.

On your part that’s now repeated misrepresentation of my postings, this is my last response to you.

I initially wrote that he’d done well in the other two countries, but that he wasn’t quite victorious in the UK. The man is running for president and over there to show his superior diplomacy skills to Obama’s. When you’ve got prominent UK pols reacting with indignation in response to his gratuitous commentary on their handling of the Olympics, that is not a diplomatic success whether or not he was right in his assessment.

You responded specifically about England, since that was the focus of my initial post, and my subsequent response, as in “It was...” was likewise so focused.

Your repeat dishonesty in addressing my posts here does not do your man Mitt any particular favors.

Don’t bandy about “dishonesty” to cover your wrong opinion. I’ve done nothing dishonest nor misrepresented your words. You typed them and you have to own them. Plenty of FReepers have gotten it wrong from time to time and I include myself.

The MSM has and will always work to wound the conservative or GOP candidate. I specifically separated those two because I don’t see them as one and the same, particularly in Romney. Despite your false allegation Romney is not “my man”.

Your posts are public and clear. I believe you’ve fallen for the MSM meme that Romney and by default all conservatives or GOP candidates are gaffe-prone fools. See their original and continuing treatment of Sarah Palin, but they did it to McCain, GW Bush, GHW Bush, Reagan, etc. They’ve been doing it since the MSM became compromised by Soviet Communists in the 1920s. They will do it again.

Romney was correct about the London Olympics. Reality has proved it. The British tabloids don’t represent the British people any more than we do. The Mayor of London is a liberal and an open homosexual. He has an agenda as does the liberal Cameron.

Romney scored 3/3 and has wounded Obama. The more attention this gets the worse things are for Obama. That’s a win in our column, despite Romney not being another Reagan, but this time around I didn’t see Reagan’s torch bearer.

When I do you can rest assured I’ll support him. Right now Romney’s the man. Obama’s the target. You work with what you have.
