An Angry Sarah Palin Responds To Dick Cheney: He Is Buying Into ‘Lamestream Media’ Spin
Mediaite ^ | 7-31-2012 | Josh Feldman

On Fox News’ On The Record, Sarah Palin responded to Dick Cheney saying in an interview earlier this week that she should not have been chosen as John McCain‘s running mate in 2008. Palin said that Cheney made a rare “misfire,” and suspected that he had bought into the “lamestream media” spin on the election.

Greta Van Susteren noted that Liz Cheney made it clear that she disagrees with her father on Palin, before asking the former Alaska governor what she thought of Cheney’s comments. Palin admitted she was not happy with the former vice president’s thoughts on her qualifications.

“Well, seeing as how Dick — excuse me, Vice President Cheney — never misfires, then evidently he’s quite convinced that what he had evidently read about me by the lamestream media, having been written, what I believe is a false narrative over the last four years, evidently Dick Cheney believed that stuff and that’s a shame. So he characterized me as being a mistake.”

Palin said that she felt “honored” to accept the nomination to be McCain’s running mate, and that the true mistake would have been if she had decided to “hunker… down,” stay in Alaska, and serve out the rest of her term as governor.

Van Susteren noted that Cheney wrote in his memoir that Condoleezza Rice cried on more than one occasion, wondering why he would want to say things like that to prominent women like her and Palin. Palin said that Cheney just misfired, just as she believed the GOP establishment misfired when other Republicans made similar statements about her 2008 candidacy.

Angry? She was not angry, just pointed. So I guess the new definition of angry is that you disagree with something.

Cheney still doesn’t realise that it wasn’t Palin’s fault McCain didn’t win.

When a candidate backs his opponent instead of opposing him he cuts his chances of winning immensely.

Nothing to be afraid of in an Obama win McCain said.

Boy was that a stupid statement or what?????????????

The media has destroyed Palin’s image, just as they did with Dan Quayle and so many others.

Cheney is a flaming A-hole. I never trusted the guy, and when he was selected to be GWB’s running mate in 2000 it was obvious that Bush v2.0 would be nothing more than the same big-government “New World Order” globalist crap from Bush v1.0.

Cheney had it exactly reversed; McCain was the wrong candidate and Palin was the right one.

Bingo! She was, in fact, extremely graceful to Cheney considering how moronic and hateful his comments were. Anyone who actually LISTENS to Sarah when she speaks can’t help but walk away understanding that she far outshines the Repug establishment types and is THE class of Repug party.

Palin is 10x the pol and statesman that Quayle ever was.

That’s why she’s still the standard-bearer for real conservatives and the GOP base, whereas Dan never reached that status despite the lift that Poppy gave him.

“The media has destroyed Palin’s image, just as they did with Dan Quayle and so many others.’

The LSM are like the Columbians. They don’t just destroy you. They also have to destroy your family so there can be no thought about revenge.

Romney can fix all that by putting Palin in charge of the EPA.

My theory is if McCain had chosen Pawlenty or Romney, the resulting media scrutiny in election cycle 2008 would not be what we've seen against Palin.

But as soon as she burst onto the national stage, it will be existential hatred from both media and GOP establishment. Remember she got unbelievable scorns from GOP insiders and media happily 'reporting' along?

She would still get slanted coverage but not an all out war to destroy her.

I think that Cheney made an uncharacteristic mistake and walked into a trap, partly of his own making, sprung by a media determined to reelect Obama and destroy Sarah Palin. So Cheney was thinking in terms of process and made the mistake of making a substantive observation. He was the director of the process and charged with the responsibility of leading the vice presidential candidate twice in his career and he scrupulously followed is indisputably correct sequence for picking a vice president with the first and indispensable qualification to be whether the individual was ready to be President.

In this context, a process context, Cheney was thinking about the people he had worked with and served under all of whom at the very top, like Donald Rumsfeld, Colin Powell, Gerald Ford, who were man of vast experience compared to Sarah Palin. If he had thought about it, he might have observed, as did his daughter, that Palin's experience, especially the quality of her experiences, was in sum greater than the combined experience of Obama and Biden.

On the other hand, Cheney's remark betrays a serious deficiency in the Bush administration, a phobia of partisanship, a hesitancy to plead one's own case, an utter inability to fully appreciate the evil motive of Democrats, a tendency to regard party politics as "smarmy," a tendency to throw fellow Republicans under the bus, a willingness to compromise fundamental conservative principles if regarded to be necessary to advance the war on terrorism.
