"The victory of Ted Cruz in the Texas Republican Senate runoff primary means that the torch is being passed to a new generation of principled small government constitutional conservatives and that the 'let's make a deal' Republican Party of old will soon go the way of the Dodo bird.
"Ted's nomination sent a strong signal that a new conservative Republican Party is being born and, by 2016, principled conservatives will replace most leaders in Congress and the Party at the national, state, and local levels. GOP leaders should 'ask not for whom the bell tolls -- it tolls for thee.'

I believe Dewhurst was a bit complacent and took his insider status for granted and dropped the ball big time.
I offered up an extra thank you to God this morning when I read this news. God really is in charge.
More like a retaking of the GOP.
I, for one here in Georgia, will work diligently to primary our three major GOPe politicians: Deal (governor), Chambliss (senator), and Isakson (senator). We don’t need quisling appeasing politicians like this in our government.
It also sends a chilling message to Barack Hussein Obama and his entire Democrat “traitor” Party, coupled with the recent governor Scott Walker victory in Wisconsin, that Obama & his destroy America, Democrat Party is going suffer a devastating, embarrasing, crushing defeat come November 6, 2012.
Folks, disregard the MSM polls, they mean nothing and in reality are nothing but lies and distortions. Obama & Democrats are in free fall!!!
Not to say that conservatives can't identify with the TP.
You are dead on!!
I thought Deal was pretty good? Or was that just an unfair comparison to the Dem?
I got my check last week - .33 cents. No kidding.
Words to chill the hearts of the Go-Along-Get-Along GOP: “The TEA Partier are coming!”
And the very best time for the TEA Party to dump the dinosaurs is in the primaries. Get interested and get going in preparation for the next primary cycle in ‘14.
God Bless Texas - and Ted Cruz!
Nathan was my Congressman for years. What’d he do when he was elected Governor? Of course, the Georgia 400 Toll Road was nearing the end of its widely promised removal of tolls once the original debt had been retired. What’d he do? He started ogling over the revenue and offered up some excuse for more projects that could be funded. He caught hell for it...what’d he do? Of course, he dropped the tolls for a week and said, “we honored the promise.” Goddam bastard!
What’d he do next? Well, he issued some vague statement “we’d phase out the GA 400 tolls” (as an enticement for the TSPLOST)... Next, he partnered up with Mayor Kasseem Reed (I don’t care if I spelled it correctly) on trying to screw Georgians out of more of their money for a bunch of BS government/contractor/thief get-wells with a transportation SPLOST (which lost yesterday)....
He partnered up with a lying no good mayor who can’t even explain why his secret-partner contractor charged $1.2M for clearing some intersections during Atlanta’s last snow ‘storm’ (hardly)....an amount 3-5 times what the ENTIRE state of Georgia paid for similar efforts outside Atlanta......screw Nathan...I’m gonna give his GOP opponent, if there is one, the maximum for all my family members.
Complacent??? I saw his campaign as desperate.
http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2012/07/ted-cruz-wins-in-texas-gop-senate-runoff/
Dewhurst poured $11 million of his own personal fortune- he founded a successful energy company called Falcon Seaboard- into his campaign, spending a total of $19 million, as compared to Cruzs $7 million spent.
Conservative takeover of the GOP? I sure hope so!
You betcha!
I gladly voted for Cruz yesterday. I’m so glad that in November, we will end KBH’s Senate career.
IT is a breath of fresh air to see Cruz win the runoff against a RINO that was so heavily supported by the Repub establishment! I hope and pray that his victory really DOES hint of a major Conservative movement both in the GOP and this nation!
Talk about PollyAnna Utopianism... America cannot decide whether it was to be Queer, democrat or socialist..
compassionate, full of tough love or arrogant..
diversified, american or one worldly...
BUT judged correctly it totally depends on the WEEK..
America is so ridden with propaganda and agitprop the
attitudes of most americas are like a drunk with
Tourettes... reading Newsweek like a bible..
I hope more and more CONSERVATIVE thinking politically alert, like Freepers continue to do the heavy lifting.
I still maintain - we need to boot our more of the boo hoo Boehners, Lugars and McConnell types and continue to send this same strong message to ALL the RINOS. I’m sick of PC everything. PC is only a way to “reach across the isle and give up all backbone”. Dems NEVER do this. Why should we?
THANK you Texas for these results and from this proud Wisconsin Conservative - I’d say - keep the faith, keep up the great work and NO.... the T.E.A. Party is NOT dead.
I'd love to live in a country where the two major competing political groups are the conservatives and the libertarians.
That would be a colossal improvement over what we have now, where the major political opponent is the totalitarian left.
I look at it like the grassroots of the party reasserting themselves. The GOP was diluted when the socialists took control of the democratic party and ousted their moderates. The democratic moderates then moved to the GOP.
In truth we now have two parties: the socialists/marxists and the republicrats.
The MSM should always be regarded not as a news agency but an intrinsic part of the dhimmicrat party.
Yes, that would be an improvement. But the way libertarians denigrate real conservatives, we wouldn’t miss the abuse from the Left.
Keep your chin up!
If Cruz can win in Texas against the GOPe’s.
We can win anywhere, if we have a credible candidate running.
Mourdock won in Indiana. Walker won his recall, Fischer won
primary in NE. Even COD beat Castle.
Given an energized grassroots Army, as shown last night,
a credible candidate and Grassroots will Steamroll GOPe’s
Astroturfers.
The Tea Party is getting more savvy in their choice of candidates to support. I believe Sarah Palin has played a huge unofficial leadership role by getting out early and endorsing top notch conservatives who can win against the establishment primary candidates and also can win in November.
When Palin puts her stamp of approval on a candidate, it gives the Tea Party confidence in supporting that candidate.

That's a pretty rosy outlook. It's certainly where I've wanted to see our party go for the last 24 years.
Lets hope the guy is right. I have a hard time thinking the RNC and guys like Rove, Card et al will go down without much of a fight. This could easily turn into an old fashioned western range war.
There are times when I get the impression the old guard in the Republican party (the current leadership) would rather see it dissolved than let Conservative Constitutional Republicans take over.
McCain and others have made it crystal clear what they think of Conservatives over the years. A pox on them all, with that school of thought. It's time for some real leadership for a change.
Boehner, McConnel, move over...
And vice versa, from what I see here on FR. But history shows that political abuse is by nature an inherent part of human political action.
Even America's founders weren't shy about abusing their political opposition.
I've been to his web site and it attacks labels the pro-Israel position "neocon" even though his own poll on Israel vs. Iran returned a 71% pro-Israel response. As I understand it, he used to be pro-Israel. Has he changed into a "palaeo?"
Another concern is that (according to Wikipedia--granted, not the most reliable source) he is against the death penalty and wants a moratorium. NB: I am not defending the death penalty as currently administered, which is contrary to Divine law. If Viguerie is opposed for the same reason, well and good. BUT, if he is opposed to the death penalty in principal then I have a problem with his position.
We refer to our own idiots in D. C. as the GOPe. I think it’s way past time to come up with something for the media, like the DNCm. I’m sure most of us would even go so far as to refer to them as the DNCp, for propagandists.
I think I’ll start referring to the MSM as the DNCp.
Has a nice ring to it...
I'm more than willing to set aside any differences until a goodly chunk of that 90% has been accomplished.
Oh BS. One victory is one victory.
My point exactly.
I agree with you. With the exception of National Defense issues, Conservatives and Libertarians pretty much see eye to eye as far as Federal involvement is concerned.
However, National Defense is a huge problem. I don’t want to set that aside.
Closing down most of what is left after that is something we can work together on.
“libertarianism is NOT strictly conservatism”
Not strictly, no. But all government is inherantly liberal.
So restriciting government is inherantly conservative.
A cakewalk for Cruz when conservatives in Texas descended on neighborhoods with great support for him and broke a sweat to help him. This was BEFORE the late endorsements I might add.
Freedom Works and Jim De Mint were instrumental coming up with the the early money, a great cold cash injection and rallying a little DC help.
Mark Levin was the early endorser who turned some heads.
There ... I fixed it.
This country has survived and even sometimes thrived in the various RINO administrations since World War II (Eisenhower, Nixon, Ford, Bush & Bush) but we can't survive Marxism for much longer.
No doubt, the hard work done before the Big Guns came in set the stage for victory.
The biggest difference is how these Conservative Superpacs
helped level or as close to level the money advantage Dewhurst had. It helped counter-balance the money advantage
Dewhurst had.
A Road map for Tea Party victory was tested in Texas and it
ALL came together. The hard work of grassroots, the conservative superpac money (leveled the playing field)
and the final help of Tea Party Big Guns. Of course, the most important of all, you had a credible, gifted candidate.
a credible candidate
Dewhurst figured he could “shock and awe” Cruz with his $$ advantage. But the overwhelming negativity turned a lot of folks away. I’m not sure the tea party aspect deserves as much credit as does Dewhurst’s campaign incompetence.
They who? You sound like Rip Van Winkle.
If memory serves, Viguerie has opposed the death penalty at least since the 1980s out of fear that an innocent might be executed by mistake.
I agree. The members of the Tea Party and I (and you) think it’s time for us to finally see some real differences between the candidates. I’m sick to death of having to choose between hard left statists, and those stuck in the middle of the Left side of the spectrum.
Let me at least vote for someone in the center of the spectrum. And by accident, perhaps give me someone in the middle of the right once in a while.
I'm very libertarian but I like to say that I became a conservative on 9/11. My libertarianism is not of the "tear it all down" variety, but rather of the Constitutional / States Rights variety.
Remember that libertarians are "this close" to being anarchists (those dregs that call themselves anarchists today are really just more Marxists giving anarchists a bad name).
Of course, none of this excuses many of the Ron Paul supporters who act like liberals. Our differences, after all, are way less than our commonalities vs. the left.
