The following is my understanding. If I’m mistaken I hope somebody will correct me.

The insurgency in Iran was genuine. But Iran is already under sharia so Obama had no need or desire to change anything there.

In Syria the people rebelling are the die-hard Islamists who seek sharia. Hence, Obama’s support.

That pretty much sums it up. Another freeper on the other thread had an excellent point : that on the same day that the WH leaked that they were supplying the insurgents in Syria with missle launchers, Panetta was giving a public statement that the Syrian military needed to stay in control to secure the WMDS.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?

Wonderful. And if Assad is overthrown, the rebels will turn on us. But what the hell,,,as long as King Barack looks “tough.”

Here is the report about Panetta. Excerpt follows in italics.

US: Syria military must remain intact

Washington - Government forces in Syria should be held together when President Bashar Assad is forced from power, the US defence secretary said on Monday, warning that the mistakes of the Iraq war must not be repeated.

This is one of the major problems when you try to remove someone through a third party surrogate force. You really have no control of the situation on the ground. It will be far worse then Iraq. Sure, we disbanded Saddam's forces, but we replaced them with a stronger US force. In Syria, we will replace a strong force with a weak terrorist force. So Obama/Hillary's genius plan is to keep the Syrian forces together, the same forces who had their commander killed in a terrorist bombing. Another one of the brilliant DINO plans. Expect the RINO's under Romney and his right hand man McCain, to ride to the rescue and send thousands of US troops into the breach.

Thank you for the link. It is so unbelievble and disconcerting on so many levels. It’s like one hand doesn’t know what the other hand is doing in this administration.

We are giving these more weapons to kill Christians with as could be predicted. Another upcoming victory for “democracy” should really help our efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Al Queda really should be armed by us, what a great idea.

It is the same as Egypt. Replace the government in Syria with an extreme Islamic one. Obama has it all planned. After Syria then it will someone else.

If The Disaster showed up dressed and armed like Rambo he still wouldn’t look “tough.”

He, at best, could look like a female weightlifter.

I can remember in Gulf War I when my son was in country with the 82nd, a really stupid question. Our troups were moving up the Saudi highway to Kuwait and also by sea, when some idiot reporter asked, “what beach do you plan to put our landing craft on?” I forget what response was given, but it was not an answer.

The article said he did some of this a while ago, and they did not know how long ago it was. Seriously, how long can a secret like this be kept in Washington. There is a lot to blame Obama for, but I doubt that disclosing this “secret” is it.

Until we know who actually leaked this, you probably have a valid point. I will remind you that the details of the Laden raid were all released. We know almost everything, which is really sad, because it will allow our adversaries to avoid certain things in the future. We could have used some of those methods over and over. Now it will be very hard to do so.

When all is known, I’m still pretty sure the Obama White House will figure in the release of this information.

Still, at this point, I do think I was a little to quick to speak of that as being undeniable at this point.

Your point is reasoned... for now. ;^)

Syria is another secular regime to be replaced by an Islamist one.

Hussein and Hillary the Muslim Brotherhood tool via Huma Abedin conduct the Arab Spring.

Hussein bows to the Saudi king, the keeper of the holy sites in his Muslim faith.

The use of CIA and NATO to conduct this jihad is without precedent.

See also the 2004 Council on Foreign Relations paper by Zbigniew Brzezinski and Robert Gates "Iran: Time for a New Approach" signalling the end of George W. Bush's Axis of Evil.

Note how Hussein did not move against Iran when it brutally suppressed its citizens in 2009--yet now Syria is in the same dog house as Egypt and Libya.

Do we see a pattern here by our Muslim president.

He has a Communist dimension as well.

Just as the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem (whom MX found admirable) was a natural ally of Hitler and Himmler, so, too, the American Left and the Islamists collude.

How can they reconcile their Chick-Fil-A brouhaha with sharia impalement?

Liberalism is a mental disease.

I think that given the mile or less proximity of the Bin Laden raid from the Pakistan military academy, it would have been pretty hard to hide what happened, especially as his wives were alive Better we put our spin on it first.
