Maybe for Obama 'Stuck in the Mud' is exactly what he wants

What the author, John Schoen, ignored throughout the article was the 800 pound gorilla in the room -- Obama's European-style socialist vision.

As for Obama's socialist vision, the path of the graph is exactly what he wants to see. This is the path towards ultimate government dependence on the part of the masses.

Maybe? He cannot fundamentally change America while it still exists in its current form. He needs people hungry, hurting, and scared who are willing to give up basic freedom for the helping hand of the government.

Nothing to see here move along...

Note to self: I Will Not Comply.

Rush was exactly right three years ago when he said Zero wanted to destroy the economy so that gubment could be the savior. You now have to seriously rethink the predominant view that FDR really was trying to “save” the economy in the 1930s. The min Wage law alone guaranteed no employment recovery.

He's doing the same thing with our national space program by handing it off to Elon Musk, an Obama supporter and host for an inaugural bash with Arainna Huffington. Once all the infrastructure and institutional knowledge is removed, they'll pull the plug on subsidizing companies like SpaceX (Musk and his family also have a subsidized electric car company, Tesla, and a subsidized solar panel company, Solar City. Then NASA can be a green-Earth centric bureaucracy.

NASA administrator says we can't cut it, we can't always be number one: Here

Obama's Science and Technology Czar, John P. Holdren, says the world is better when other countries pull up and level the playing field; that America can't always be number one.

To this administration, the de-development of the United States (as Czar John P. Holdren subscribes too and applauds) is a positive thing.

While I do think NASA has a place in our government, I am thrilled to see space privatized. When I worked on the National Aerospace Plane (X-30) program 15 years go, I constantly recommended that the USAF and NASA find a way to move orbital travel into the private sector. The USAF largely agreed, but the big contractors (Lockheed, Boeing, Rockwell, GE) did not---too much competition and only one winner (in their view).

Musk is only one of several seeking routinized space travel and even if he is an Obamaite, I wish him well in that endeavor, which will benefit all of us. ONLY when space travel is routine---which the idiot space shuttle was NOT---can it become the next frontier.

I want a strong space program too (national as well as commercial) but in the end, Musk isn’t taking us anywhere but to the cleaners.

Every ship that Musk puts up at private expense is a step forward.

One launch of what we had (access to ISS, except w/o people this time). Meanwhile we slip further and further behind other countries.

Look, we “slipped behind” while GOVERNMENT was in charge of space. Now, we have a chance to rapidly surpass the Chicoms and others. Government, even in space, NEVER keeps you in the lead.

....Now, we have a chance to rapidly surpass the Chicoms and others.

What is happening is the purposeful destruction of U.S. space capability. Private companies cannot fill the gap, cannot take the hit from accidents or protect claims in space against other government backed space programs.

I accept that we see this differently.

You fail to appreciate the difficulties, but you will.

And you worked in the space program how long? I was in for seven years. And I don’t understand the difficulties? Why did the USAF (!!!) insist that privatization was the way to go? (NASA refused-—gee, wonder why?)

You’ve resorted to saying because I don’t work in the field, I don’t know about it or understand what’s going on.

You are mistaken.

Nice chatting.

I think you said this: “You fail to appreciate the difficulties”

Really? Who is in a better position to “appreciate the difficulties,” one who has worked in a related field or one who has not?
