The Obama Ad Blitz Isn't Working
Wall Street Journal ^ | August 1, 2012 | KARL ROVE

Posted on 08/02/2012 8:35:49 AM PDT by kingattax

Three months and $131 million in spending haven't moved the president's poll numbers.

'If you've got a business—you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen."

Despite President Obama's effort to walk back these remarks, the damage they've caused to him remains. And that's because what he said in Roanoke, Va., on July 13 came across as a true expression of his worldview.

The president's vivid words did not come out of nowhere. While pushing for higher taxes on upper-income people, Mr. Obama often refers to the wealthy as "fortunate" (such as at a Democratic National Committee event last September) and "incredibly blessed" (at a campaign event on July 23). Translation: Successful people don't really deserve to keep what they earn.

"You didn't build that" is not Mr. Obama's only recent problematic statement. In a June 8 news conference, he said "The private sector is doing fine. Where we're seeing weaknesses in our economy have to do with state and local government." And in Oakland, Calif., on July 24, he told donors that on the economy, "We tried our plan and it worked!" These comments make voters wince

Why, haven't you heard? Obama BOUGHT the NYT, CBS, Quinnipiac poll from yesterday...you know, the one where he's up 6 umpty points in Florida, Pennsylvania and whatever else battleground state he needs? Those states? I could win any poll where all I ask is "Do you love your Grandpa" if all I aksed were my grand daughters. Unless these tools have succeeded in putting together a massive, massive voter cheating scheme, Obama's butt will be out in November and we can all forget about this Hopey Changey Put-Racism-Behind-Us wishful thinking and get on to repairing this country. We can all say "Been there, done that - and it didn't work".

Liberals all believe that successful people are just “lucky” and that anyone can really do your job.

Somehow they miss that anyone isn’t doing my job, I am.

The public has made up its mind on OBama, nothing he says or do can help him at this point, only hurt him further. He is incapable of getting above 42-43% of the vote in November, and that’s if he runs a flawless campaign, the fact is his campaign is a disaster.

The public had made up its mind about this joker, and its not going to matter what he does or says he’s not going to change it, in fact, the harder he tries to change it the MORE of hte public will write him off.

This guy is a person who would wash out of intramural play, attempting to play in the big leagues, and has no clue what he’s doing on any level and it is blindingly obvious.

Obama’s best strategy would be to simply shut up for the next 3 months, he’d probably do better under those circumstances than actively campaigning in all honesty.. Still won’t win, but would do better on election night.

Barry has been advertising during the Olympics alot.

A 30 second commercial is supposed to cost $750k...I hope they’re not giving Barry a preferred rate.

Romney could win the upcoming election simply by running a single commercial..., the “you didn’t build that” - plain and simple.

Why? Because it is the smoking gun. It shines the spot light on the criminal mind, on the criminal himself - and there is no place for Obama to hide.

“Mr. Obama’s strategists know they won in 2008 in large part by outspending their opponents in the primaries and general election.”

That explains the desperate fundraising letters they keep sending out.

I would’t put it past them to start seizing private property by executive order, like Chavez did.

I did it... for you!

Barry has been advertising during the Olympics a lot.

I wonder how many other people are muting him? Plus, he seems to call every medal winner to congratulate them, and the commentators, of course, must let us know what a great guy he is to do that.

Maybe Obama would be better off if he told people to put HIS commercials on mute.

He’s probably calling them to remind them that they didn’t win that on their own...

DID I SAY THAT????

I've seen an awful lot of Obama ads trying to walk back his boneheaded statements lately, it would appear that the First Moron is on the ropes. If that's what his campaign "message" has devolved to, it's a pretty sure recipe for failure.

If you are going to run a campaign based on jealousy and class warfare aimed at the lowest common denominator, I have seen candidates at the county and local level do it far more effectively. Obama’s ads just stink.

Perhaps these phony polls and their really stupid numbers are intended to act as cover for massive vote fraud. The fraud will make the numbers come out right?

You know, the NFL season is going to be getting underway in another month. Isn’t it about time for ESPN to do a special with the President where we hear who he likes to win each division and the wild cards?

DVR! That is how we are watching the Olympics! We skip over the commercials and ESPECIALLY the Obama ones!

Every time the commentators mention Twitter and FaceBook numbers for the athletes, they also have to note the numbers of Obama - it is SICKENING! Can't we enjoy the athletic competition of the Olympics without the BS politics of this pathetic excuse of an American President?!?
