Entercom picks up Howie Carr's option

WRKO today announced that it has exercised the option on Howie Carr's contract, keeping the longtime radio host on WRKO for the foreseeable future. Carr, who anchors weekdays 3pm to 7pm, has been with WRKO since 1994.

"Howie Carr is a Boston radio legend and I'm looking forward to having him continue to anchor afternoon drive. This is a great day for our listeners, affiliates and advertisers, and I'm excited that we've extended our relationship," said Jason Wolfe, Vice President of Programming for Entercom Boston.

"Howie Carr has been a lynchpin for WRKO for years and we are thrilled he will continue to be part of the best talk radio in Boston," added Jeff Brown, Vice President and General Manager/Entercom Boston.

Howie was awfully pissed about this on the air today. If they had any balls, they would suspend him for three days for insubordination.

Maybe Howie wrote the contract himself? I remember the last time he went before the judge, the judge said that he there was a clause authorizing WRKO to match any other offer, plain and simple. What the hell ws he doing in court with no reasonable argument, he said.

Missed Howie’s show the past few days due to a trip to Va./DC/Maryland (saw Nationals game tonight,nice field!) May be back in Howie-land by tomorrow aft (Conn. etc) but the news of Howie’s “renewal” was announced.

If (When?) Mitt Romney becomes president, I wouldn’t be surprised at all, if Mitt puts Howie Carr somewhere within a Romney administration. Howie has been “too pro-Mitt Romney” for too long, and that makes me suspicious as to, exactly, why.

I haven’t been able to listen to him lately because my Am radio crapped out and I can only listen to FM. This does inhale because WRKO is a dead man standing. Once I get my Dodge Challenger in another month I’ll be able to listen to him again. one of many excuses to buy it. LMAO!

I'm a huge fan of Howie's.I've been listening to him since his days with Jerry Williams and Barbara Anderson..."The Governors".But this constant tirade against Entercom is absolute BS.And,for the record,neither I,any member of my family nor any of my friends has *any* connection to Entercom.Does Howie understand that over the last 5 years,during which time he's been making close to a million a year,that his "typical" listener has been making $40K a year (if he's lucky) working for an outfit at least as bad as Entercom? Does he even *begin* to understand that he sounds *exactly* like the "beautiful people" for whom he claims to have so much disdain? I've seen Howie's house in Wellesley (no,I'm not a stalker and his address is easily obtainable...completely legally...on the internet).It's very,very nice indeed....far nicer than anything *I've* ever lived in.And I've always had a rather comfortable life.

Howie...give it a rest.We get it.You're the highest paid,wealthiest "victim" in the entire Commonwealth.
