Washington Post ^ | 8/3/12 | Jena McGregor

Posted on 08/03/2012 2:09:25 PM PDT by DallasBiff

Who knows whether or not Cathy’s remarks will create risks for his sales over the long term—a temporary boost appears to be underway, and customers can have short-term memories. But at a time when young people increasingly support same-sex marriage, what kind of risks do they create for the company’s pool of potential employees?

I admit, I’d never been before this controversy.

I’ve gone 4 times this week alone. Even took my camera today to take pics of the lines and the “protesters”

Amazingly, ZERO “protesters” had the “balls” to show up. Such little cowards in the face of opposition

But at a time when young people increasingly support same-sex marriage

The only one's who believe that are those who've been totally brainwashed by leftist teachers at government public schools and college academia, which happen to be full of commies and liberal intolerant zombies.

No,the opposite will be true.

I agree. Chick-fil-A can't discriminate in their hiring, but attracting a higher proportion of God-fearing Christians into their applicant pool can NOT be a bad thing.

Jena McGregor doesn’t have a clue. Where does she think the phrase, “that’s gay” came from? Well Jena, it’s an expression that kids originated, which crept into common usage.

Like has been stated on the thread, there are only maybe 2% of kids who have any real mental disturbance over ‘the birds and the bees’.

Forgive them. They were ordered to write the article. Reporters for the NY Time, Washington Post, and other progressive media do not have control over the content of their columns. They are told what to write and the only creativity allowed is in the viciousness and vileness of the content.

Pulling out all the stops, aren't they? The Times implies the food isn't safe, the Post, that standing up to outrageous activist bullying is demotivating and never mind who started the bullying in the first place. I wonder when we're going to get the article that states that any restaurant that draws that many lines of cars and customers should be shut down in the interest of public safety? "Nobody goes there no more," sez Yogi, "it's too crowded."

The hate campaign failed, and what we are hearing is the sloppy flailing of the corpse that doesn't know it's dead yet. It's pretty funny if you have a touch of sadism in your sense of humor. I do.

And this whole notion that more and more people are supporting gay “marriage” is simply a lie.

More young people are supporting gay marriage...they grew up in gay acceptance in the media/culture. Just because your circle of friends and websites you may post on say's otherwise does not mean it is not happening(more gay acceptance)...it is.

Fortune 500 companies don't take dummy pills. Nearly everyone of them has pro gay marketing...they would NOT be doing this if the country was gearing to less gay acceptance.

Don't attack me..I'm just giving you the cold hard truth of what is happening. Again I'm speaking of the younger than 35 set which I am part of. Whether you want to keep you head in the sand is up to you. I respect your opinion.

Daughter works at a local CFA along with several other friends. They were a bit apprehensive about Weds and the large crowds, but by the end of the night they were excited to be part of history!

I believe it is too, but it sure isn’t for the lack of trying. They have done everything they can to turn our kids to Leftist anarchist ideology on all levels. Somehow, our kids remain reasonably resilient, and resistant to it.

Evidently parents aren’t obsolete after all Lefties.

Hysterical! This hack could not be more uninformed. The contrast between cheerful and clean-cut CFA workers and the dour, surly workers who populate other fast food restaruants here in Atlanta could not be more stark! CFA used to require a recommendation from church leadership to join the team. The type of kids who would be offended by CFA’s stance on this issue would likely not have a prayer of landing a job there anyway. LOL!

You mean you might not get this young person to work for you:

And you will have to settle for this?

I think the company will do just fine.

Simply more leftist blather from WAPO.

To the contrary Chick-fil-A will prosper. Until Wednesday I had never eaten at a CFA. On Weds I bought two sandwiches and $100 of gift cards.

I may not dine that much at CFA in the future, but I will definitely buy their gift cards that I donate to my favorite Christian organizations.

WAPO is only reflecting their own miserable financial prospects. WAPO has turned off their Christian readers and are nearly bankrupt.

Wow, what a joke of an article. Pool of potential employees? For a fast food restaurant? The people in that pool don’t really have any other pool to swim in, so where are they going to “shrink” to, genius?

Concern troll doing what concern trolls do.

You don't like Chick-Fil-A? Don't go there.

Otherwise, STFU.

"Who knows whether or not Cathy’s remarks will create risks for his sales over the long term..."

" Well, this writer and others of her ilk can always hope..."

On Monday, two black store employees gave me the devil for going to Chick Fil-A; one of them said the business will probably be okay because, quote: "People like you will always go." Ha!

I was to a CFA ONCE.

About 2-1/2 years ago.

They opened the first one near me (that I know of) 6-12 mos ago.

Until today, I was only at CFA once, because I never really had the opportunity to go. And since I have so many choices for food and so little time, when they did open, I stuck with my regular places.

But because of the situation these last 2-3 weeks, like you, I will be frequenting CFA more often.

And I'm sure there are many more of us out there.

Apparently, the author does not live in the South. Every time our Chick-Fil-A is hiring, they have more young people apply than they can hire. I know this because I go to church with the franchise operator.
