It's called "leadership," and "doing the right thing." Why would we need any politician to lead us in a mission in support of our faith?
That's the purview of church leaders, not politicians.

IMO, it would be called stupidity for getting involved in a no win scenario.
Those conservatives disposed to dislike Romney will not be swayed and it would fill the LSM heart’s with glee as they went after him.
