President Obama is of the view that he knows the key factor for the re-election, and it is very close to the White House. Last night at a high school in Leesburg in Virginia, Obama told supporters that if we win Virginia, we will win this election. Obama became the first presidential candidate four years ago to win in Virginia, since President Lyndon Johnson in 1964. He was also winner in the neighboring North Carolina, the first Democrat to do so since Jimmy Carter in 1976.
The race this year in Virginia also features a wild card, the possibility of independent candidacy by former American Congressman Virgil Goode, a resident of Virginia. Goode, is a former Democrat-turned-Republican, a conservative and could take a significant number of votes from the Republican candidate Mitt Romney.
Virginia was made corner stone of a solid GOP South in the presidential elections, from Ronald Reagan to George W Bush. Cracking of the South by Obama virtually guaranteed his win over John McCain, and would probably do that again, against Mitt Romney.

Obama can believe whatever he wants. If MItt believed that he’d been much more serious in campaigning in Virginia but it’s pretty obvious he doesn’t really think Virginia counts.
I wonder just how many times the population of Washington D.C. will vote there?..
2 or 3 times... or more?..
“Obama says....”
:::::::::::::
That should tell the story right there.
That fool Goode. If he selfishly pulls a Perot that costs us Virginia, he will deserve a kick in the @$$.
God forbid a guy run for Presidency in America. You communists kill me. I say I hope he wins the entire Presidency. Sure better than you nasty candidate Romney.
Fairfax County is blue, blue, blue. When I was at the government center last presidential election, I saw people bussed in from a mentally handicapped facility. Each handicapped person was chaperoned by a volunteer from a womans group (stereotypical womans group — not PC to mention online) who entered the voting booth with the handicapped individual. Many of these individuals looked dazed and bewildered and some looked scared, not knowing what in the world was going on. A woman was drooling in a wheelchair nearly comatose ... her chaperone voted for her as well. Meanwhile, my daughter and son-in-law did not have their mail-in votes counted. The mailed-in votes mysteriously got lost. The voter rolls have not been updated for years. No telling how many dead people are voting as well as people voting who have long since moved to Maryland or the District. Voter fraud is alive and well in Fairfax County. There are so many marxist New Yorkers and Chicagoans who moved into my neighborhood, its frightening.
Obama will thank you for your efforts.
Goode is loose cannon, a nut, and an egomaniac.
He has no chance of winning even one State.
The former Democrat, Goode, is in this to help Obama and hurt Romney.
How is he going to win the entire Presidency by running in only one state? How is voting for Goode going to change the plight of millions of American citizens looking for work and watching there savings dwindle down to nothing in the next for years? It’s not and you have the nerve to call us communists? You are out of your freeking mind.
The Romney campaign is more organized now in Virginia, before he has been officially nominated and elected the Republican Presidential candidate, than McCain ever was (not saying it’s much to compare against - although Sarah did a good job). He’ll be here again next week.
Mitt only has so much money to spend. Give him time and he will be in Virginia.
And I hope Salma Hayek dumps her billionaire husband and calls me for a date.
“Obama became the first presidential candidate four years ago to win in Virginia, ...”
Huh?
DemonCRAP candidate to win?
Nothing says “Dem win” like a Clintonian plurality.....
Forget the mail in and absentee voting...
go down yourself and vote...
make your vote count...
That way also you can find out if someone has already used your name to vote...
if you mail it in they will probable just dump it if its a “duplicate” vote...
Also a month before the election in Nov go down to your Election Commision ad make sure you are still on their rolls and everything is correct...
He's got a very negative track record here.
When lib-dem shitholes like Philly & Pitt can control PA, and a murderland hellhole like Chicago can control IL, etc etc, America is truly gone, no matter if Romney somehow wins amidst all the voter corruption, crime and fraud.
Growing-up in the NW Suburbs of Chicago, I saw first-hand how Cook Cty controlled IL, and now that crime-riddled sewer has spread outward, as have all lib-dem-run/ruined cities.
How is he going to win the entire Presidency by running in only one state?
You are so out of touch and uneducated. It is a damn pity. I pray you don’t have children because if you spout out stupid things that are not true then you will have huge problems.
What are your thoughts on the negative Virginia track record?
Obama will thank you for your efforts.
Whatever. Give me a conservative to vote for next time you Romney lover.
The election is Obama's to lose ~ takes an awful lot of work for a Republican to make up that 10 million starting point vote deficit.
Fur Shur each and every serious Republican candidate should have made sure during the primaries that he or his running dog lackeys (let's call them that for laughs eh) did not needlessly irritate or anger the voters in any particular state, particularly a SWING STATE.
That sort of thing comes back to haunt you in the regular campaign.
Romney forgot that the Republican base in Virginia is remarkably Conservative ~ and irrespective of the lies McDonnell and Bolling were telling him, he, Romney, would have to work hard to earn their support.
In the end Romney let his running dog lackeys ruin the primary and a pitiful remnant bothered to even show up.
The consequence is that Romney probably can't get a majority of voters anyway, so folks voting for Goode are simply putting voice to their angst over their betrayal by the GOP-e.
Following that we expect the remainder of the Virginia GOP-e to get flushed down history's toilet in next summer's Republican Convention ('cause we ain't doin' a primary again until it's fraud proof).
He made some deals with people who misrepresented themselves ~ much as he misrepresents himself. It's beyond normal politics.
The entire Republican Party deserves one for nominating a loser and then standing by him while he drives his own base away.
Yeah, I saw that, I guess republican candidates don’t count. Freudian slip.
Screw Romney and the GOP-E he rode in on! Goode is entitled to run for President on the Constitution Party ticket, whether you like it or not. So tough!!!
Your ego is controlling you, not your conscience.
Lousy writing/editing.
Living in the western suburbs of Richmond, I have heard absolutely no buzz about Virgil Goode’s candidacy. Have the sense that folks will do anything to see Obama gone despite the past reservations over Romney.
Heh...spoken like someone who has no principles whatsoever.
Romney and the GOP-E have not earned my vote, and in fact stand for everything that Conservatives abhor. You can go ahead and continue to be their sheep, but I won't.
Obama became the first presidential candidate four years ago to win in Virginia, since President Lyndon Johnson in 1964. He was also winner in the neighboring North Carolina, the first Democrat to do so since Jimmy Carter in 1976.
If this is "fact" then it would be better not to win Virginia since as written, presidential candidates don't win Virginia.
He is no longer a Republican. He wouldn't be on the ballot if he'd been in the GOP primary. David Duke is another Democrat politician turned Republican candidate turned Independent candidate. There is no screening process just give yourself party affiliation.
Even if I hoped it, it will never happen without being on ballots in every state.
I agree. If Goode helps put ZEro back in, he is no more than a traitor.
Obama's Secret Plan To Win Virginia
I’m near Mary Munford and talk politics all the time with people who keep well abreast of the upcoming election.
I have yet to hear a single mention of Virgil Goode.
Not the thing to say about anybody running for President ~ they are protected by the law from solicitations to murder.
All you do is unnecessarily attract the SS to this site. And maybe your home.
You know, you GOP-E folks have it all backwards.
It is not the responsibility of conservatives to fall into line and support whatever candidate the Republican Party decides to nominate.
It IS the responsibility of the Republican Party to nominate at least a decently conservative candidate, if they want our votes.
At this point, I'm not all that concerned who wins the Presidency because we're up a creek either way. Neither Obama nor Romney will do a blasted thing to really take care of the problems that government itself has created.
I doubt this is what LS intended. Like a lot of other Romney supporters, he's just hyperventilating about the possibility that the RINO candidate might have a rough time of it because of the extremely poor decision on the part of the GOP-E to engineer Romney into the nomination. As a result, his fingers are typing before his brain can engage. They all seem to think that we have a constitutional duty to vote for whatever drek the GOP digs out of the garbage can.
I have a different perspective of the recent Virginia history. McCain did not run a campaign in Virginia. I know that for a fact. I had to hold my nose and even personally purchase the signs for my region of the Commonwealth. I've seen Romney now more times here than McCain ever was. And the organization that Ive seen so far is outstanding. Once he is nominated and elected as the Republican Presidential nominee, watch what happens. Since hes not elected, there are McCain-Feingold rules that have to be complied with right now since it is a federal election.
Don't get me wrong though, Romney was not my first or even third choice for the nomination, but neither was George Allen (Jamie, Bishop Jackson, Delegate Marshall), but Romney and George won the primaries. I don't want Barry or Tim in the WH and Senate and I've been working for years now on the local and Commonwealth level with the Tea Party and Republicans to ensure that this doesn't occur. I sure as hell dont agree with George, but I want him voting for a new Senate leader that is Republican who will be surrounded by one of the most conservative group of Republican Senators in recent history. This will change who is appointed to replace Ruth and potentially others. I shiver at the 5 to 4 votes that they have done both ways that affect our freedoms (Kelso, Heller, ACA, etc.).
At this point in time, the RPV and of all of the campaigns are more organized, focused, and conservative than I've ever seen (Im a comehere but been here a time). And this comes as a continuation of the historic 2009 election, changing our representation in the House in 2010, taking control of the Senate and local offices in 2011. The RPV State Central Committee is now comprised of more conservatives than RINOs and the vote to make next year's mechanism for choosing the top three positions a convention proves that. Hopefully that will ensure that our AG becomes our next Governor - but I get ahead of myself.
The predicament that were in now didnt happen overnight and were not going to get out of it overnight. Once any of these people get elected, we need to hold them accountable and continue to vet conservative candidates to replace in the future as part of the growth system. The Dims in Virginia are truly hurting because they lost their farm team and will be running McAuliffe next year. How sad is that?
I ask again how has Romney needlessly irritated or angered the voters in Virginia? If you are referring to the Republican primary, he didnt cause the problems that occurred. What is your basis for that, if thats what you mean? I worked on getting signatures for several of the candidates, not including Romney, and the primary problems were not caused by his campaign or by Ron Pauls campaign (who as you know also satisfied the SBE requirements).
Im not sure I understand what you are looking for, your insight, or what you are doing about removing Barry from the WH and stopping Tim from entering the Senate.
Ill be at next summers Republican Convention to support and vote for Cuccinelli. Will I see you there? In the meantime Ill be working my a@@ off the next 94 or so days to get Romney and George elected. I will crawl across broken, heated glass with people on my back, holding my nose to vote to remove Barry and stop Tim.
Wasting an opportunity to fire up the base is beyond stupid ~ it is criminal and you know it. The state committee certainly understands the consequences of that.
I don't see Romney overcoming the 10 million voter deficit. He's losing anyway and has not acted like a winner ~ not ever. If his campaign team is well organized and efficient, that doesn't matter unless they can do something about firing up the base to vote for a loser.
“You are so out of touch and uneducated”
You are to late. I have two grown children out on their own and doing quite well thank you. I have only heard of Goode running in Virginia and not on the ballot elsewhere. Hey clue me in if I am wrong. It is quite possible Obama has slipped him enough funding to be on the ballot elsewhere. I live here in California so I am not 100% up to speed as to what is happening on the East coast.
By the way this is twice now you have got into name calling. The first one was calling me and others a Communist. Those tactics are just what the liberals use. It kind of makes me wonder.
“That fool Goode. If he selfishly pulls a Perot that costs us Virginia, he will deserve a kick in the @$$.”
Yeah, thanks RINOs for screwing us over with Romney in the first place.
Gay State > Conservative.
Hey, I’m going to vote for the only prolifer on the ballot after you RINOs screwed us over.
“By the way this is twice now you have got into name calling. The first one was calling me and others a Communist. Those tactics are just what the liberals use. It kind of makes me wonder.”
Telling people to vote for your candidate even though he sucks over a stronger candidate isn’t communist to you? I thought this was a free country where we could vote for the candidate closest to us.
The primary problem came about because of the lawsuit filed by independent candidate for the legislature, Michael Osborne, who sued the RPV because it did not check petitions for its own members after they submitted primary petitions. Osborne had no trouble getting the needed 125 valid signatures for his own independent candidacy, but he charged that his Republican opponents primary petition had never been checked, and that if it had been, that opponent would not have qualified. The lawsuit, Osborne v Boyles, cl 11-520-00, was filed in Bristol County Circuit Court. It was filed too late to be heard before the election. The effect of the lawsuit was to persuade the Republican Party to start checking petitions instead of just notifying the SBE that the filing by each candidate was in accordance with the Code of Virginia.
I agree that the more, the merrier in a primary. But based on the lawsuit, the Code of Virginia, and the lack of action by the campaigns, that didnt happen. As an example, I worked with Newts effort (and somewhat with Perry), but we couldnt pull it off. McDonnell was even assisting Newt, I was there.
In Virginia in 2008, Barry and Joe got 1,959,532 votes (52.62%) to McCain/Palin 1,725,005 votes (46.22%) for a 234,527 difference. I easily see Romney making up that difference and beating Barry in the Commonwealth. Just in blue, blue Fairfax County, there are 35,000 fewer registered voters than in 2008. The youth and even the black vote (I attend local NAACP meetings) are not even close to being energized. On the other side, people are flooding the call centers and volunteering like Ive never seen. New PACs like We r Virginia have formed (and are well funded) just for this federal election. We even had 120 people show up in Henrico County in the pouring rain just for a four second pass of Barrys motorcade in route to a campaign stop. . Romney is winning. The Rassmussen poll of likely voters shows Romney is beating Barry. The Citizens of the Commonwealth and our great nation have donated more money to Romney than Barry during the last two monthly reporting periods. I dont know what you are looking at. But Barrys numbers are terrible. The economy sucks, his negatives are horrendous, and people flock to Chic-fil-A (not to mention the formation of the Tea Party and all the other elections since 2008).
This isnt 2008.
“He wouldn’t be on the ballot if he’d been in the GOP primary.”
And what did you RINOs do to us in the primary? You destroyed every single conservative candidate and shovelled Romney down our throats.
Goode- like Reagan was a democrat but the party left him. He is pro life and pro traditional marriage, unlike Romney. This is why I’m cheering FOR him rather than AGAINST Obama.
My conscience will be clear.
We haven't heard anything from Michael in a long time, and I hope he's out of state by now.
