Obama Say Win in Virginia Equivalent to Winning Election [ Virgil Goode mentioned ]

President Obama is of the view that he knows the key factor for the re-election, and it is very close to the White House. Last night at a high school in Leesburg in Virginia, Obama told supporters that if we win Virginia, we will win this election. Obama became the first presidential candidate four years ago to win in Virginia, since President Lyndon Johnson in 1964. He was also winner in the neighboring North Carolina, the first Democrat to do so since Jimmy Carter in 1976.

The race this year in Virginia also features a wild card, the possibility of independent candidacy by former American Congressman Virgil Goode, a resident of Virginia. Goode, is a former Democrat-turned-Republican, a conservative and could take a significant number of votes from the Republican candidate Mitt Romney.

Virginia was made corner stone of a solid GOP South in the presidential elections, from Ronald Reagan to George W Bush. Cracking of the South by Obama virtually guaranteed his win over John McCain, and would probably do that again, against Mitt Romney.

How is he going to win the entire Presidency by running in only one state?

You are so out of touch and uneducated. It is a damn pity. I pray you don’t have children because if you spout out stupid things that are not true then you will have huge problems.

He will be on a four state bus tour which I believe begins on August 10th.

What are your thoughts on the negative Virginia track record?

In 2008, McCain beat Romney. Obama beat McCain by 10 million votes.

The election is Obama's to lose ~ takes an awful lot of work for a Republican to make up that 10 million starting point vote deficit.

Fur Shur each and every serious Republican candidate should have made sure during the primaries that he or his running dog lackeys (let's call them that for laughs eh) did not needlessly irritate or anger the voters in any particular state, particularly a SWING STATE.

That sort of thing comes back to haunt you in the regular campaign.

Romney forgot that the Republican base in Virginia is remarkably Conservative ~ and irrespective of the lies McDonnell and Bolling were telling him, he, Romney, would have to work hard to earn their support.

In the end Romney let his running dog lackeys ruin the primary and a pitiful remnant bothered to even show up.

The consequence is that Romney probably can't get a majority of voters anyway, so folks voting for Goode are simply putting voice to their angst over their betrayal by the GOP-e.

Following that we expect the remainder of the Virginia GOP-e to get flushed down history's toilet in next summer's Republican Convention ('cause we ain't doin' a primary again until it's fraud proof).

Romney is remarkably out of touch with much of what goes on in most states. It's like he's off living in a different country or something.

He made some deals with people who misrepresented themselves ~ much as he misrepresents himself. It's beyond normal politics.

That fool Goode. If he selfishly pulls a Perot that costs us Virginia, he will deserve a kick in the @$$.

The entire Republican Party deserves one for nominating a loser and then standing by him while he drives his own base away.

Yeah, I saw that, I guess republican candidates don’t count. Freudian slip.

Screw Romney and the GOP-E he rode in on! Goode is entitled to run for President on the Constitution Party ticket, whether you like it or not. So tough!!!

Living in the western suburbs of Richmond, I have heard absolutely no buzz about Virgil Goode’s candidacy. Have the sense that folks will do anything to see Obama gone despite the past reservations over Romney.

Heh...spoken like someone who has no principles whatsoever.

Romney and the GOP-E have not earned my vote, and in fact stand for everything that Conservatives abhor. You can go ahead and continue to be their sheep, but I won't.

This article needed an editor to check the facts:

Obama became the first presidential candidate four years ago to win in Virginia, since President Lyndon Johnson in 1964. He was also winner in the neighboring North Carolina, the first Democrat to do so since Jimmy Carter in 1976.

If this is "fact" then it would be better not to win Virginia since as written, presidential candidates don't win Virginia.

He is no longer a Republican. He wouldn't be on the ballot if he'd been in the GOP primary. David Duke is another Democrat politician turned Republican candidate turned Independent candidate. There is no screening process just give yourself party affiliation.

I say I hope he wins the entire Presidency.

Even if I hoped it, it will never happen without being on ballots in every state.

I’m near Mary Munford and talk politics all the time with people who keep well abreast of the upcoming election.

I have yet to hear a single mention of Virgil Goode.

Treason has a death penalty. What you are saying is that Goode should be taken out and shot.

Not the thing to say about anybody running for President ~ they are protected by the law from solicitations to murder.

All you do is unnecessarily attract the SS to this site. And maybe your home.

Your ego is controlling you, not your conscience.

You know, you GOP-E folks have it all backwards.

It is not the responsibility of conservatives to fall into line and support whatever candidate the Republican Party decides to nominate.

It IS the responsibility of the Republican Party to nominate at least a decently conservative candidate, if they want our votes.

At this point, I'm not all that concerned who wins the Presidency because we're up a creek either way. Neither Obama nor Romney will do a blasted thing to really take care of the problems that government itself has created.

I doubt this is what LS intended. Like a lot of other Romney supporters, he's just hyperventilating about the possibility that the RINO candidate might have a rough time of it because of the extremely poor decision on the part of the GOP-E to engineer Romney into the nomination. As a result, his fingers are typing before his brain can engage. They all seem to think that we have a constitutional duty to vote for whatever drek the GOP digs out of the garbage can.
