David Plouffe: Dems have momentum going into recess (the smell of Lefty fear)
Politico ^ | 8/5/12 | Allen

David Plouffe, White House senior adviser, sent a fiery memo to House and Senate Democrats late Friday, urging them to use the August recess to echo President Barack Obama’s message to middle-class families that “he is on their side by fighting for legislation that grows the economy from the middle out, not the top down.”

“The president and Democrats in Congress move into the August recess with clear momentum on the question of who to trust on taxes and, more broadly, whose economic agenda will benefit the middle class,” Plouffe wrote in the memo obtained by POLITICO. “Over the coming weeks, there is an opportunity to build on this momentum and shape the legislative agenda this fall by highlighting the choice Congress faces at this make-or-break moment for the middle class.”

Pointing to the “sequester” reductions to domestic and defense programs which will kick in next year unless the parties agree on a deficit-reduction plan, Plouffe warned: “[M]ore jobs could be lost — from military contractors to teachers — due to automatic spending cuts at the end of this year if Congressional Republicans continue to refuse to ask the wealthy to pay a little more in taxes.”

...Plouffe wrote: “On the issue of taxes, it is clear that Congressional Republicans who opposed the President’s middle class tax cut should be on the defensive in their districts for the next few weeks. They are all that stands between middle class families and lower taxes.”

“The choice is clear. The stakes are high,” Plouffe concluded. “And the message is simple and effective. The President will continue to make sure middle class families know he is on their side by fighting for legislation that grows the economy from the middle out, not the top down. We hope you will echo that..."

I live in the Peoples Democratic Republic of Massachusetts. I cannot find five people who say they will vote for Obama. Yes, Boston, Lowell, and Springfield will go 85-15 for Obama, and Obama will carry the state. But his complete lack of support outside these deep blue cesspool cities indicates to me what most other Americans are thinking.

>>he is on their side by fighting for legislation that grows the economy from the middle out, not the top down.”<<

That doesn’t even make sense. How does one do that? Pass laws forcing employers to hire and middle class people to spend money?

When one drives over a cliff, momentum usually becomes a major part of the process.

Contrary to what Plouffe says Obama is NOT trusted more on taxes or the economy then Romney in fact he trails badly according to both Gallup and Rasmussen polling from late July, the latest available.

“I live in the Peoples Democratic Republic of Massachusetts. I cannot find five people who say they will vote for Obama.”

Make that two. Romney won't win here, but, if can keep Soetoro’s MA margin of victory below, say 12% (which I think he will), it's going to be a very early night for the Rats nationwide.

Side note: How many million$ of taxpayer dollar$ have been poured into the cesspool cities of Lowell and Springfield and they NEVER, EVER improve?

Obomacare is still here, and will remain as long as Oboma keeps the office.
Election over.

The economic message is powerful, but Obomacare is even more powerful. The democrats have gotten the Republicans off message.
The economy can be debated forever (and blamed on ....whatever) - Obomacare is a slam dunk!

We need to keep Obocare and it's consequences in the forefront. This issue harms the middle class of all political stripes and all incomes more than anything else.

I don't care if the states decide they want it. States are sovereign. When the feds try to push it on everyone - like homo marriage - I have a big problem with that. Most states - and the people in them - would, too.

Obomacare oppresses all parties, races, genders, and all incomes. Obomcare is a universal nightmare. We can't let this issue die.

Yep, you have all the momentum going downhill, recklessly into a brick wall....

I’d call 911 but you probably won’t survive the crash.

Good post!

The only momentum I’m seeing from the statist Dems, is in getting their arses kicked!

Obama’s advisers set groundwork for raising taxes on the middle class.

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204313604574328552267381152.html

Few of President Obama’s 2008 campaign pledges were more definitive than his vow that anyone making less than $250,000 a year “will not see their taxes increase by a single dime” if he was elected. And he was right, very strictly speaking: It’s going to be many, many, many billions of dimes.

Asked about raising taxes on the middle class on Sunday on CBS’s “Face the Nation,” White House economist Larry Summers wouldn’t repeat Mr. Obama’s pre-election promise. “It is never a good idea to absolutely rule things out no matter what,” Mr. Summers said—except, apparently, when his boss is running for office. Meanwhile, on ABC’s “This Week,” Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner also slid around Mr. Obama’s vow and said, “We have to bring these deficits down very dramatically. And that’s going to require some very hard choices.”

These aren’t even nondenial denials. The Obama advisers are laying the groundwork for taxing the middle class while claiming the deficit made them do it.

The liberal establishment is even further along in finally admitting that Mr. Obama wasn’t, er, telling the truth. A piece in the New York Times over the weekend declared in a headline that “the Rich Can’t Pay for Everything, Analysts Say.” And it quoted Leonard Burman, a veteran of the Clinton Treasury who now runs the Brookings Tax Policy Center, as saying that “This idea that everything new that government provides ought to be paid for by the top 5%, that’s a basically unstable way of governing.” They’re right, but where were they during the campaign?

So much momentum, I bet even the most die hard libs won’t be holding any well-publicized townhall meetings to meet with their constituents of varying opinions.

One election cry should be “Eight Hours!” For if the top 1% of earners were taxed 100%, all their money would run the federal government for eight hours.

Caveat: until Romney gets off his ass and his nice-nice campaign, Obama is headed for a win.

Ever notice the article headlines on RCP? From conservative magazines: "How we should restructure the debt" and "Polls indicate a tightening race" and "Will Aurora shooting result in new gun laws?" OTOH, listed next to these are articles from Liberal mags with these titles: "Bain employee: 'Romney has sex with corpses'" and "Killing black babies -- the GOP's new plan" and "Why gun owners should be thrown in prison." I mean, the Libs have a rabid mean streak going and the conservatives counter this with Ryan's budget proposal.

I live in the Peoples Democratic Republic of Massachusetts. I cannot find five people who say they will vote for Obama.

Unfortunately, I can. Anywhere inside of Rte 495, a GOP sticker will get your car keyed (and around Springfield and Amherst/Northampton). Anywhere else, people are more sane. But, Obama will carry the heavily populated welfare pits and the deluded college areas by the 85-15 you project.

I sometimes ownder if it is something about population density that predisposes people to liberal pathologies. Years ago, some population density studies were done on rats, with very disturbing results. Once a certain density was reached, homosexual activity increased dramatically, and rats started eating their young. Ohhh... but that was just rats... could it possibly apply to 'rats?
