RNC Chair to Reid: Dirty Liar
Townhall.com ^ | August 5, 2012 | Elisabeth Meinecke

Posted on 08/05/2012 2:11:24 PM PDT by Kaslin

Looks like the GOP isn't standing for Sen. Harry Reid's bullying tactics. Reid recently suggested--without a shred of evidence he can share, apparently--that Mitt Romney hadn't paid taxes for quite awhile. Reports the AP:

Top Republicans on Sunday accused Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid of lying by passing along an anonymous claim that GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney hasn't paid taxes for 10 years. Republican Party chairman Reince Priebus called Reid a "dirty liar." Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said, "I think he's lying about his statement of knowing something about Romney" and he contended Reid was "making things up to divert the campaign away from the real issues." Reid's spokesman, Adam Jentleson, contended that Republicans were trying to cover up for Romney and the aide repeated the Nevada senator's claims that the source about Romney's taxes is "credible." Other Democrats said Romney could clear up any confusion about his taxes by disclosing them to the public, and the issue was a main talking point on the Sunday news shows.

UPDATE (Guy) - Here's video of Priebus' exchange on This Week.  The best part is when George Stephanopoulos seems taken aback by the term "dirty liar" and asks if the RNC Chairman will "stand by" that characterization.  Priebus' reply?  "I just said it."

Additional props to Priebus starting his answer with a series of slams on the economy, which is the issue Reid is trying to distract from with his pathetic stunt.

“Yall notice how the rnc has a backbone when it comes to defending a fellow rino/liberal.How quaint.”

I fully agree with you. The RNC (part of the GOPe) only backs its RINO candidates like slick williard. Reid is no doubt a scumbag and liar....however...so it Mittens.

I would like to see Romney’s income returns for the last 20 years (I suspect he is hiding something). However, I would also like to see Obama release his college and law school records....and to tell Hawaii to let investigators see any and all original documents they possess concerning his birth.(I KNOW he is hiding stuff).

We have all kinds of liars and persons hiding unsavory or embarassing details about their pasts running for office. Unfortunately, some have an (R) behind their name.

He is indeed and I am afraid if he is reelected and doesn't achieve what he claims he wants he will make an EO and run for a third term

I mean who would trust him not to do that?

This why we must not only take the People's House back, but also the Senate SuperMajority (not just the majority) Plus we must increase our seats in the House

No, you did not.

There is a time and a place for everything.

But, with less than 100 days before the election, now is *not* the time and place to shoot *our* own guys in the back while they are on the front line of the battle to retake the White House, the Senate, and increase our hold of the House.

It would be *much* more productive to aim your vitriol at the *real* enemy.

I must ask you why do you think romney will be any better? I have read his record as governor and it is appalling from a conservative standpoint and I dont trust a northeast rino,or any rino for that matter,as far as I can throw them.I think you may be sorely disappointed in him.Do you really think he would work to repeal obamacare?I dont.

“*our* own guys in the back while they are on the front line of the battle to retake the White House, “

What you fail to understand is that they are NOT “our own guys”. They are liberal republicans. The republican party has decided to write off the conservatives.

Free Republic is for CONSERVATIVES.

Liberals in Republican clothing are not “our guys”.

Yes, these are sad times. So many folks here on FR are so afraid of an Obama 2nd term (which any wise person would be), which is a valid fear. However, they are willing to accept Romney as an alternative to Obama (not a wise viewpoint). That is a no win scenario. Romney is not the answer to Obama. That is like trying to put out a house fire with a flame thrower - using the wrong implement for the job!

The more I see of, and hear of, Reince Priebus, the more I like the guy. He helped orchestrates Scott Walker’s victory. I think the guy has ba**s.
