Taken to task for their tape delay, talking over the opening ceremonies and a garden variety of other missteps so far during their broadcast of the 2012 Olympics, they now have to deal with this: After Bob Costas paid tribute to Gabby Douglas's gold-medal glory, saying, "But there's some young African-American girls out there who tonight are saying to themselves, 'I’d like to try that too,'" they immediately went to an ad featuring a monkey doing gymnastics.

Saw that ad and believe me, NBC has sunk to new lows.

I LOL’d at the absurdity of these PC punks making such an obvious gaff.

But in reality, if the “Race” of olympians were as irrelevant as they are claimed to be, there would be no reason to laugh or sigh and no gaff would be apparent.

I watched it live and immediately knew it was going to be a scandal. But here's the thing. The commercial is completely acceptable and fine. It was the sanctimonious, condescending descent into ugly political correctness that was the racist element in this gaffe. Costas bringing this beautiful and inspiring gymnast's race into the discussion was beneath contempt.

This illustrates the fallacy of Political Correctness. There’s no way to avoid violating the rules. Everyone is guilty, even the super-politically correct NBC. The whole concept is to make everyone feel guilty about their “inner feelings,” which are hidden so deep within each of us that we ourselves are unaware of them.

We are all supposed to be like people who have second-degree burns, sensitive to the slightest touch. Always offending; always easily offended.
