Huckabee, McCain, Condi to headline GOP convention
American Thinker ^ | 08/06/2012 | Rick Moran

It appears that the GOP convention will feature a lot of Republican governors as speakers. This is in keeping with Romney's campaign which is selling the candidate as a competent, experienced leader willing to deal with the other side to solve our problems.

But I will guarantee you it won't sell with a lot of the conservative base.

Tampa Bay Times:

_________________________

Florida Gov. Rick Scott, Sen. John McCain and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice are among seven headline speakers announced today for the Republican National Convention in Tampa.

The first look at featured speakers also includes South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Ohio Gov. John Kasich and New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez.

The keynote speaker and others will be named closer to the Aug. 27-30 event, Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus said in announcing the headliners, whom he called "some of our party's brightest stars, who have governed and led effectively and admirably in their respective roles."

"Ours will be a world-class convention, worthy of the next president of the United States, and these speakers -- and those that will be announced later -- will help make it a truly memorable and momentous event," Priebus said.

The RNC did not say what day or time any of the headliners would appear at the Forum, where former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney will officially become the 2012 Republican presidential nominee.

Romney has not named his vice presidential running mate, though that person will get a prime-time speaking slot. Noticeably absent from the headliner list are several VP contenders: former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, Ohio Sen. Rob Portman, Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, New Hampshire Sen. Kelly Ayotte, Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal.

What a bunch of completely crappy nonsense. You have allowed RINO creep to distort your writing to total nonsense. I doubt if you could identify such a RINO as you have described if you met face to face on the street.

The Republican Party is composed of Republicans!

What, you’re saying Mittens isn’t a RINO and you’re voting for him?

Today’s Republican Party is as close to Ronald Reagan as today’s Democrat Party is to Henry “Scoop” Jackson.

The RINOs DO own the GOP. You’re voting for Mittens, right?

No. I support Obama, just like you.

I don’t think the 3 of them together could keep awake an insomniac.

Romney will lose in November if this is the best the Pubs have to offer.

What I’m saying is that you don’t know what a RINO is.

Romney is or will be the nominee of the Republican party and is therefore unquestionably a Republican.

Yes, I will vote for him. He is first and foremost the only alternative to Obama. He won the Republican Primaries. All others besides Romney and Obama are merely pretend candidates.

The battle for the nominee is over. To exert Conservative influence and pressure, rather than bitch n moan about principle and purity of thought, effort should be to search and find candidates like Ted Cruz and work and contribute towards their election.

Neither Romney nor Obama is a conservative, since both are left of center agenda-wise. I ask myself which of those two can be steered toward the center ... and conclude it certainly is not the little barry bastard commie/fascist. Romney on the other hand can be pushed toward the center because he has a 'legacy' to construct.

As the first Mormon president, he would be sensitive to things which will write a positive legacy in History. He is a family oriented man, not a druggie like barry, not given to sexual degeneracy as little barry, and is business focused. He will be 'pushable' because he has a legacy to build oriented toward Mormon values of family and self-sufficiency. Will he ever be a right of center politician? Very unlikely, but he is not going to be a destroyer of the Republic like the sonofabitch now soiling the presidency and working overtime (when the lazy shiftless degenerate actually gets off the golf course or back from a vacation) to end the Republic and remake America in the European Socialist model now failing before our eyes!

But FR is not the place to raise reasonable points regarding how Romney can be steered toward the center. The spittlegeist appears to be punish the GOPe, even if that means the end of the Republic. You cannot reason with such an agenda. It reject conscious recognition of anything that doesn't feed the twisted meme.

Hey the coveted Independents finally get a convention!!!! The GOP-e has always been the mushy moderate, ‘high minded’, middle of the road liberals. There is very little except their political positions they won't sell out to stay popular!!!!! High school 101!!!!

Col Allen West, Sarah Demint, Michelle Bachmann, no we have social liberal condi, yawn, McCain the loser who wants to offer his hand for peace and Huckabee.

All we need now is the boring old elitist white guy Rino, who will give us a snooze fest, speeches wiht no emotions, no attacks, nothing at all and one who cannot even understand the meia is liberal and hates them for VP.

the repblcian party stuck on stupid and always counting on their R for their votes.

Maybe Allen West, Sarah , etc all need to set up a new party instead of the old elitist guard socially liberal crap we have now.

The RNC convention is now 100% skipable.

There is no compelling reason to watch any night other than the VP and nominee speech.

I hope romney has people supervising in the control room to prevent McCain style stupidity (green screen) fiascos.

Moderates are the linguine spine personalities that really really watch the poll numbers and pawn off to underlings to do the homework they then pontificate themselves as representing.

Moderates are play actors that think that everything is all about them. There is not a moderate walking this earth that would NOT in a heartbeat rip the life from any who gets in the way of their bank account. BUT will shout from the highest mountain top of all their self perceived good deeds. They are NOT somebody one desires to have in the ‘foxhole’ when the shooting begins. Self preservation is their ‘god’!!!!!
