Cheney walks back remark about Palin pick being ‘a mistake'
Washington Post ^ | August 6, 2012

Former vice president Dick Cheney on Monday backed off his comment that it was “a mistake” for the GOP to pick Sarah Palin as its vice presidential nominee, suggesting the comment was more about the VP process than about Palin herself.

“It wasn’t aimed so much at governor Palin as it was against the basic process that (John) McCain used, “ Cheney told Fox News’s Sean Hannity in an interview airing Monday night. “My point basically dealt with the process in terms of that basic requirement: Is this person prepared to step in to be President of the United States when they’re picked? And it was my judgment — I was asked if I thought the McCain process in ‘08 had been well done or was it a mistake, and I said I thought it was a mistake.”

An even bigger mistake was for the GOP to nominate a clown like McCain in 2008.

Nominating clowns seems to be all the rage with the GOP these days.

I’m disappointed. I see no reason for Cheney to have said anything about 2008, particularly anything negative about Palin, regardless of what he may believe.

&&&
Exactly, especially this close to an election with a dirty team of Rats ready to pounce on anything they can for a sound bite.

Funny he didn’t comment on what a mistake it was for the GOP to run McAmnesty and what a mistake his entire noncampaign was.

One of the few things McCain did do right was to select Palin. So many of us voted for him only because of her.

Visiting foreign countries and voting present is not foreign policy experience.

As for the current Veep, in one of my professions we have an expression “One year of experience 30 times”. Nuff said.

Cheney is/was the best and I'm pissed Freepers are piling on. As even you, microgood, acknowledge, many R's were concerned about Sarah's experience (ie: readiness). And--in the end-- they lost. So one could make the case that McCain didn't do it right.

We know for a fact he didn't handle Sarah right. And save it... we know the real mistake was McCain.

If I had a dream team, it would be Cheney / Palin. Get off Cheney's back. Who in the world would have the courage and straight-forwardness to recommend himself for VP. If you want BS, don't go with Cheney.

In the words of Johnny Carson, “I did not know that.”

Very interesting side bit. Thank you!

So many of us voted for him only because of her.

Exactly right! They all saw our reaction to us FINALLY hearing a conservative voice - she was one of us!

I see no reason for Cheney to have said anything about 2008, particularly anything negative about Palin,

The reason is for Mitt - as mitt hasn't finished his trashing of her BECAUSE he has not been nominated and he has no idea what CAN happen at the convention.

But the coward mitt has his GOP/old boys do his dirty work. Cheney really should be ashamed of himself. He came down notches and now is on the bottom - and that is what I will remember him for, anything he did good is down the drain with his willingness to be 'used' by a Liberal scum bucket!

Palin is THE TOP POLITICIAN AROUND - Hands down! And, yet, she's just a private citizen! And these little faggot men will trash her whenever it suits them. Newt is the REAL man in the midst of these low life's. He doesn't feel threatened by her because he IS his own man like Todd is.

Newt is like Sarah - CHEERFUL! And would have made a GREAT TEAM! The others wallow in their hate of anything good - and good for America!

"Newt is like Sarah - CHEERFUL!"

Yep. Here's Newt manning a Chick-fil-A drive through window six months before it was cool.

Romney will never go after Obama as aggressively as he attacked Newt Gingrich. Rachel the Chick-fil-A drive girl responded well but I'd love to have heard Newt's response to Adam Smith. Imagine something like his encounter with the MSNBC reporter.

What might Slick Willard have said to him? He probably would have agreed with Smith. Mitt: Chick-fil-A: "Not part of my campaign".

What a Dick Cheney.

Well, he did pick up the nickname, during the 2004 campaign, "Big".

Not sooo much, but just a teensy weensy bit?

It was an idiotic and callous remark for such a brilliant man.

Where did you get that pix of him? Cool!

Newt Gingrich is asked by MSNBC about Palin’s experience. Newt responds. Reporter almost cries, then sends it back to Olbermann who tries to recover. It doesn’t go well.

Romney will never go after Obama

NEVER!! Romney wants the win handed to him by people's votes. That's it! HE will NOT WORK for it! He stole the primary from NEWT with his 24/7 LIES and Bloody Thursday with the help of Drudge! He DIDN'T earn it! The maggot is as low as they come!

The politico site is where Romney filtered his trash about Sarah through. I don’t read their stuff any longer.

Look at the pictures. Notice how they took a picture of romney talking to reporters and notice the picture they chose for NEWT. They/politico uses propaganda tactics - like I said, this is a romney filtering plant! Anyone will do anything for a buck. Nothing is honest anymore - it’s all to DECEIVE voters and that right up romney’s alley. He is all about deception!!

“Walk back” my big ol’ butt!!! The mendacious mean-spirited SOB just wanted to attack Sarah some more and Hannity was a gulible tool to give him a stage.

His raw hate for the lovely Gov is obvious and disgusting!

Lost even more respect for him damn little left.
