Starbucks appreciation: Will retort to Chick-fil-A day succeed?
LA Times ^ | Aug 7 2012 | Tiffany Hsu

Gay marriage activists had a vision: Tuesday would be their clarion call for consumers to reject Chick-fil-A ... crowding into Starbucks and other more sympathetic companies.

Though its still early in the day, National Marriage Equality Day...seems to be getting a mostly mild start.

A Facebook profile created for the event by Equally Wed, a lesbian and gay wedding magazine, shows more than 34,000 people signed up to attend. But a photo page populated by submissions from supportive consumers had fewer than 20 images just before noon on the East Coast.

...

“Let's show the right that the left can spend money on demand too,” wrote one Twitter user...

Big crowds, however, weren’t on the menu.

Compare that with Chick-fil-A Appreciation Day last week... The event, inspired by comments from Chick-fil-A President Dan Cathy backing the “biblical definition of the family unit," created traffic jams, out-the-door lines and record sales for the chicken chain. More than 670,000 people signed up on Facebook to attend.

Starbucks has well over 12,000 stores in the Americas; Chick-fil-A has slightly more than 1,600. ...

Initially, the event was focused on Starbucks, which recently threw its support behind legislation in Washington that would make gay marriage legal in the state.

But the coffee giant’s corporate office had no part in planning, instead reiterating the same statement it has used for months.

“We deeply respect the views of our customers and our employees and recognize that there’s genuine passion surrounding the topic. We have many constituents and from time to time will make statements that are consistent with our values and heritage even if they may be inconsistent with the views of a particular group.”

The company declined to comment about a potential sales boost from Tuesday’s event.

Of course, lots of people go to Starbucks ANYWAY. Makes it all that much easier to claim “success”.

You don’t go to starbucks for that. you go to DC. The left is the cheapest bunch of SOB’s out there.

They spend other peoples money like water. They don’t spend theirs.

Yep. And a lot of them are staying away today.

If nothing else, being served by people in latex gloves can be a bit unnerving. At least, on homosexual day I ASSUME they are using latex gloves.

I appreciate the homosexual groups identifying the anti-Christian and anti-traditional marriage companies out there.

I did not know Starbucks and the other companies oppose traditional marriage. Now that I do I will never spend money at any of these companies ever again.

I actually think many conservatives will stay away today, and it may well be noticed...they’re (rainbow crowd) not doing great already.

How about permanently? I won’t do business there, nor at Kohl’s and now JC Penneys. Haven’t attended a Hollyweird movie in years and don’t miss it, it’s crap anyway and the actors are easily to personally dislike. Who needs ‘em?

Starbucks (aka, fourbucks for a cup of coffee) is a far left corporation. I stopped going there a while back when they were printing leftist slogans on their cups. Made me gag!

Fortunately for me I never liked the taste of Starbucks coffee, I thought McDonalds was much sweeter, better tasting, and I drink Coffee black so I can tell. And I thought it was ripoff as with their high sugar drinks.

I always saw Star-bucks as a ‘So, I am a success because I can waste my money on this crap” status symbol, which apparently is for social liberals.

What part of less than 2% of the population being Homosexual do they not understand? While the leftists scream about right wingers to try and pretend that they speak for the majority, only 1/5 of the population are dyed in the wool liberals in polls.

While the minority is very loud, very hateful and very destructive, they are still the minority. Leftism and LBGT perversion is simply not that prevalent in society.

It however is profitable for the corrupt politicians to pander to the evil few, they may a good smoke screen for "political correctness" a word invented to call evil good and good evil. Hard to steal if you are correct, easy if your "politically correct". So we are stuck with them, the Media and the Politician's play to the band that covers their looting the treasury, and the band marches on.

And on...

And on...

As we are forced to pander to the desperate few.

Homosexuality is a genetic/psychological flaw. We don’t see articles of this sort covering bestiality or other sexual maladies, so why even bother giving these types of stories print?

I still have one of two gift cards I received at Christmas. I gave the other away.
