Vermont man who flattened police cruisers with tractor is folk hero to some
The Republican ^

He fought the law, and the law got crushed.

The man who drove a tractor over several police vehicles in northern Vermont last week is on the verge of becoming a modern-day folk hero to some, with various online sites cropping up to canonize and defend the "simple farmer" from Newport, Vt.

Roger Pion, 34, was so angry about his arrest last month on marijuana and other charges, he took the law into his own hands, so to speak, and flattened 6 police cruisers and a van from the ">Orleans County Sheriff's Department.

The Aug. 2 incident got Pion arrested. But it also got the farmer some big-time media exposure as his story went national, sparking everything from T-shirts to ballads to Internet sites dedicated to "freeing" him. Since the episode, various websites have declared Pion a patriot and a saint — even a sainted patriot. A Facebook page, "Roger Pion, the magnificent," describes him as a hardworking farmer and father from a "down-to-earth family" that now needs help footing his legal bill.

Friends and family claim Pion has been subjected to abuse and harassment from law enforcement officials, while law enforcement officials claim Pion has a documented history of being "uncooperative and aggressive" during past police encounters, the Burlington Free Press reports.

“I don’t know what you are looking at but this researcher shows a huge increase in bipolar disorder.”

And this one says: “The number of American children and adolescents treated for bipolar disorder increased 40-fold from 1994 to 2003”. If you truly believe that is objective, I got a bridge to sell you. Also, cannabis use decreased during those years.

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/09/03/world/americas/03iht-health.4.7366376.html

Psychiatric evidence is very subjective. I don’t like to use it but prohibitionists like to flaunt it now because it has been established there is absolutely no evidence of proven physical damage. There has never been a SINGLE autopsy that proves any damage from cannabis. All while such damage occurs from alcohol every single day.

I of course normally defer to your expertise but I thought the Bummer first claimed that all GM warranties would be honored but once the “new” GM emerged they were denying coverage on any pre-BK warranties?

Of course it could have been just a bad dream where non-union pension accounts and bondholders were wiped out while preserving the unions and making them owners of the company ... along with Uncle Sam but I was wrong once before.

That was the time I thought I was wrong but it turns out I was right. ;-)

Yet they grew the same plant on their property that was found growing on this man’s property. We know *they* grew it; they even wrote about the plant; this man has been *accused* of growing it.

The growing of a plant is not analogous to slavery. The point is that the mere presence of the plant would have justified their arrest in the eyes of some Freepers here.

How do you suppose George Washington or Thomas Jefferson would have reacted were they arrested for the possession of hemp or “resisting arrest”?

The U.S. Government in the past decade has totally flooded the U.S. with millions of foreigners, Muslims, and illegal aliens, all of whom vote.

You can be confident our electoral process has been totally undermined and compromised.

There is very little proof that many illegal aliens vote

They've created an epic industry of fraud, from fraudulent drivers licenses to social security ID, and other forms of ID. In fact, they obtain jobs, drive, obtain homes, rent, have addresses, checking accounts and in fact many have multiple forms of ID, have been found working in the White House, on our military bases etc.

In fact it was discovered people who entered the country illegally were found wandering around the inside of Bush's Homeland Security Chief, Chertoff's private residence. During war time no less.

And you think few of these millions vote?

Come on Pollyanna.

good thing there is no bayonet lug on the front of that think or it would really be a dangerous weapon.

I did notice a noise suppressor, though.

LOL,

I thought GM has a program going now where they will take back any car, (and give you another??). If that is true, then the taxpayer will continue being bilked for a long time.

There was an article on FR the other day, that said the Bummer would be giving $$$$$ to cities to buy new patrol cars, guess which car he will stipulate they buy?

I am always wrong. lol

"I haven't seen anyone say it's the same (related, yes)"

Bipolar disorder and schizophrenia: distinct illnesses or a continuum?

Schizophrenia is actually Bipolar Disorder?

Schizophrenia and bipolar may be the same disease

Schizoaffective disorder merges schizophrenia and bipolar disorders as one disease--there is no schizoaffective disorder.

Your argument is incoherent. It does not follow that because I don’t like certain laws and/or think they’re unconstitutional, I get to destroy hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of public property.

Now I've seen it. The fact remains that schizophrenia rates have been flat over the decades when marijuana use skyrocketed.

I'm with you on this one. Regardless of whether this was the best course of action or not, if everyone in this country had the same balls as this guy, we wouldn't all be on FreeRepublic crying about how our country is being taken over by communists and other assorted bad guys. We'd be happily living in a free country.

LOL

It’s a joke about what’s the worst thing someone on MJ is gonna do.

Drunks will cause an accident or worse, while someone on marijuana will only miss their exit.

Not if I'm on the jury.
