BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — A federal judge advised jurors Tuesday to remain objective as they hear evidence in a criminal case stemming from a Vermont child-custody dispute that touches on issues of religion and gay rights.

Eleven women and three men were impaneled to hear the case against Mennonite Pastor Kenneth Miller, accused of helping a woman flee the United States with her daughter rather than share custody of the child with her former lesbian partner.

Miller, 46, of Stuarts Draft, Va., is charged with aiding in international kidnapping. A conviction carries a maximum prison term of three years. The jury was selected Tuesday and court will resume with opening statements Wednesday.

Lisa Miller, no relation to the defendant, and Janet Jenkins of Fair Haven entered a civil union in Vermont in 2000. Lisa Miller gave birth to her daughter, Isabella, in 2002. The couple later broke up, and Lisa Miller returned to her native Virginia.

Kenneth Miller is accused of helping Lisa Miller and her daughter travel from Virginia to Canada, then to Nicaragua in September 2009 where they lived among Mennonites. The current whereabouts of the mother and her now-10-year-old child are unknown.

Obama administration makes new indictment in hunt for girl claimed by lesbian

(LifeSiteNews.com) - The Obama administration has indicted a second individual suspected of helping a nine-year-old girl escape a custody claim by an unrelated lesbian, who is seeking to take custody of her from her natural mother.

According to the Associated Press, 46-year old Kenneth L. Miller of Stuarts Draft, Virginia, appeared in federal court on Tuesday to face charges of “international parental kidnapping” for helping Lisa Miller (42) and her daughter Isabella (9) to travel to Canada and ultimately Nicaragua.

The Virginia resident reportedly contacted associates in Nicaragua and Canada to request their support for Lisa Miller as she fled the United States in 2009, and instructed individuals to purchase plane tickets for Lisa and Isabella.

A Mennonite pastor, Timothy “Timo” Miller, had previously been indicted for his alleged role in helping Lisa Miller and her daughter to leave the country.

The pair had fled the United States to protect Isabella from a court-ordered custody transfer to Janet Jenkins, an unrelated lesbian with whom Miller was joined several years in a Vermont “civil union.”

According to reports Pastor Timothy Miller has cut a deal with prosecutors to cooperate in the case. The AP reports that the affidavit against Kenneth Miller indicates that Timothy Miller was a source of information about the former’s alleged involvement.

None of the Millers in the case are related, reports the AP.

Although Jenkins is unrelated to Isabella and never adopted her, Vermont judge Richard Cohen granted Jenkins “parental” rights and ordered regular, unsupervised visits. The order was made despite sworn testimony from mental health professionals and her mother’s statements suggesting that Isabella was suffering serious emotional trauma from the visits.

Isabella Miller-Jenkins was born to Lisa Miller following artificial insemination while Miller was living with Jenkins in the civil union. Miller soon left the relationship, claiming psychological and physical abuse, returned to her childhood faith in Christ, and renounced lesbianism.

After Miller fought the court-ordered visits for several years, and failed to deliver her daughter to Jenkins for further visits, Judge Cohen ordered that Isabella be forced into the custody of Jenkins in 2009. However, Miller and her daughter had already disappeared.

The Minister evidently thinks that 3 years is a small price to pay for a child’s life. Good for him.

A federal judge advised jurors Tuesday to remain objective...

Remain objective about what? The lezbo is neither the mother or father of the child. Not guilty. Case dismissed.

Potential jurors were asked about their beliefs regarding same-sex relations, the role of religion and strongly held beliefs in society, and whether they could judge the case solely on the law and the evidence. Some in the jury pool were dismissed because they had expressed strong opinions about same-sex relationships and child custody disputes. The judge said jurors will have to set aside their opinions and deal with the facts and the law in the case.

In view that the law and society are not settled on issues of same-sex marriage, this is a set-up to compel the jury to do what the judge wants done. It throws into question the jurors' First Amendment rights to decide the case based on their individual consciences.

The court that awarded visitation and custody to a lesbian lover with no biological relation to the girl erred.

Vermont erred in issuing a civil union in the first place.

This case was ongoing while I was a student at Liberty University law school, my family law professor was handling the case. Very sad, but not surprising development, that mother and daughter should be chased out of the country by such corrupt jurisprudence. But if I learned anything during that period, it was that Lisa Miller was commited to obeying God, no matter what. As Augustine once said, an unjust law is no law at all.

God bless you and keep you, Lisa and Isabella, wherever you may be. May evil be thwarted and goodness rewarded, and may we find our way back to being a country that is safe for godly living.

Interesting that the courts are indicting someone for denying a woman access to a child to which she has absolutely no relation, at the same time that courts routinely deny almost all contact between biological fathers and their children, and almost always without any legal cause whatsoever.

A VT jury, what a scary thought today in the land that was once Ethan Allen’s.

Yep. Ms. Miller poked the liberals in both eyes. Renounced lasbianism and became a born-again Christian. Aaah, I love the smell of liberal outrage in the morning.
